The Momotaro family were all born and raised in Japan!
Momotaro (father) was born on Jul 3, 2000
He came to the Kyoto City Zoo in 2010.
Genki (mother) was born on June 24, 1986.
I was born in Kyoto and came back to Kyoto.

Again and again, Gentaro needs to leave (not that I want him to) into a Bachelor group or get his own mate. I know they are working on something, but it won't be for several years. He can't wait that long. The zoos should have had this in mind all along. I'm sure some of you watch Gravelove Animals. There is a 9-year-old gorilla named Denny who is at the SD zoo in California. They placed him in with his older half-brothers last summer. He fits so perfect in with them. Yes, Denny is a half-brother to the 3 older bachelors, but he's adjusted, and he is doing great. He's in with 18, 21, and 28 silverbacks.😄
I saw that, I seen Denny as a "toddler". He's doing well with the big boys!
I agree with you and let's not forget about Lope being moved to a bachelor group as well. Gentaro needs to be moved for a more healthy development.

I think their enclosure is too small and Momotaro should have more than one female. If he did, the kids would have a playmate their own age.

Why is it that the Mom eats all the time? As if she is staveing?
Her teeth are bad. I think she only has front ones. I know we have to break up, chew, our food enough that you obtain the nutrients from it before it travels through the intestines. I would say she doesn't get enough nutrients from it because of the bad state of her teeth. I would guess it takes eating twice as much as is necessary simply because of her teeth.
