    Great lesson video!
Really good explanation of the string letters and fret numbers, the way the tabs would be written out.

The best music lesson video ever not limited to rock but all genre! I like your English accent and delivery too. Must be a good business person or researcher as well.

Just watching this. The track must be coming up to 40 years old and guitarists are still trying to learn how to play it! YJM was big in the 80's but I wouldn't listen to this kind of guitaring now, never mind play it.

I'd always heard that it was an odd hybrid of ultra lights on the top and heavier on the lows - like 8s on the top and 47s down low. I thought that lighter strings were nice for legato stuff but 10s for arpeggios seem way, way easier to me. You can lower your action down a few more 64ths and the strings seem to behave a little better.

When your audience learning to play yngwie they don't have to be told how many times you pick each notes

I saw other lessons video. It’s different. But the notes is same. Different position

  • @Foghornish

Some instruction of picking direction would be helpful. Descending picking runs three notes per string without economy picking? Also helpful would be how to angle the pick. I love Andy's vids usually and have many lick library DVD's, the man's a legend and a beast of a player. However I find whenever he covers Yngwie he brushes over many of his techniques which are crucial to achieving his sound. He doesn't even mention that he's using the neck pickup.

he plays it wrong, yngwie was a downward pickslanter and this guy plays upward

It's strange how he uses his first 3 fingers for a lot of 3 note per string patterns, using his 3rd finger instead of the 4th (pinky). Is there a reason for this? I noticed on some of the 4 note per string patterns his shifting position, so it doesn't seem like he's using his first 3 fingers out of habit with 4 note per string patterns.

+Joe Green , I notice the same thing. I think it is his habit and he plays in this way in many other videos. In my opinion, the ring finger is always stronger than the pinky, which makes playing fast easier.

    • @llwayneio
      @llwayneio 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

+Jeff Green I spoke to him years ago about this and he told me that he has a double jointed pinky that doesn't cooperate well when using 1,3,4 finger combinations so he prefers to use his first 3 fingers.

he seems to make it work for him, which i suppose is all that matters. ideally i'd do the same but I have small hands so theres a little too much movement going to play the 1st and 2nd string notes accurately.

Is he tuned down a half step or is it just me

    •  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes he is ... Yngwie does the same thing. My guitar is in standard 440 , so it,s making it harder for me to learn ... that and the fact that it,s an Yngwie tune.

Just tune the guitar down.....if you can’t tune down half a step I think this may be a bit advanced for you 😆

you're listening to the wrong recording.
though be should have mentioned the d# standard tuning instead of diving straight into the lesson
