I was so bummed when Barbossa died and felt like cheering when he returned. I didn't see it in the theaters, but I wonder if there were any cheering events for him when he was revealed at the end of the previous movie.
Also elizbeth is just plain a pirate nerd from the start. If you pay close attention in the first movie, she knows weird ship maneuvers, pirate codes and the exploits of obscure pirates like Jack Sparrow despite being the pampered daughter of a british noble. She knows stuff that definitely wasn't part of her general curriculum to become a trophy wife. In the first movie Will is the son of a pirate but Liz is the girl that actually knows stuff about pirates.
@@anissamedina24 they were crafted with love and backed up by a ton of money from Disney. It's what happens when talented and passionate people are given the opportunity to do what they love best. This trilogy is amazing.
I think you may have misunderstood Elizabeth's intentions with her kissing Jack. Its not quite a love triangle situation. She was using her femininity to her advantage to see if Jack was truly a good man in the second movie, and when he pulled away from the first attempt at a kiss she thought that he was pulling away because he was a good man deep down when really it was because the mark reappeared. But when she actually kissed him in finale of the second movie, it was simply to trick him to save Will, herself, and the others, showing herself to truly be a pirate deep down inside instead. She used her feminity and Jack's attraction against him. But you can see from her facial expressions that she feels immensely guilty for being responsible for Jack's death. In this third movie, you can still see how guilty she feels for killing Jack, and her guilt causes her to hyperfocus on saving him to alleviate said guilt. This of course causes tension between her and Will because he witnessed the kiss without her knowing, but missed the fact that she locked Jack. He assumed Jack died honorably and that she kissed him goodbye, and is hyperfocused on saving him because shes in love. This of course, from Elizabeth's perspective, is not true.
But if you are looking at it from a woman’s perspective, Jack is temptation and curiosity. Her love for pirates was clear from the beginning. Someone, especially someone so young, can love one (and I do think she truly ever loved Will) and still think „what if?“.
I did comment that on previous videos when they came out and saw a couple other people commenting that too, but I guess he might not have read those comments.
here's a major detail that got cut from the final editing Lord Beckett and Sparrow have a past "each lived a mark on each other" Beckett got to mark Jack as a pirate, because jack didn't keep his part of the deal what was cut is a scene between Jack and Beckett meeting again, Jack says "people aren't cargo mate" Jack freed 100 slaves he was supposed to deliver to Beckett way back when so Beckett burns his ship down and Jack runs to Davy Jones, in order to make a deal to bring it back as she was resurrected the Black pearl, Jack Sparrow would captain her for 10 years and then join Davy Jones's crew to serve before the mast that was the deal, but jack got mutinied, and only "technically captained for 2 years" of course none of that matters to Jones, but the whole deal with the slaves is all Jones says he's worth 100 souls that's why Jack became a pirate for freeing slaves that were "cargo" for Beckett
Just in case you missed it. The sword Jones used to stab Will was the same sword Will forged for Commodore Norington’s promotion gift in the first movie. As far as why Jones was all tentacles. He performed his job of ferrying souls lost at sea for the first 10 years. When he got his chance to step foot on land Calypso was nowhere to be found. In his anger he stopped performing his duty and was slowly cursed for his actions. Thus the tentacles and why the Flying Dutchman and the crew are covered in barnacles and crap. He also betrayed Calypso to the brethren court in retaliation. After Will stabs the heart he enters the same contract as Jones. So he starts fresh and so he isn’t “tentacle-y” and the Dutchman and crew lose all the signs of the curse that Jones caused. Will won’t become deformed as long as maintains his duty to ferry souls lost at sea to the other side.
Captain Teague was played by Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones. He's one of the people Johnny Depp took inspiration from when portraying Jack. The other inspirations for Jack were a bunch of comedians and cartoon characters, like Bugs Bunny.
One of the symbols for the goddess Calypso is a crab 🦀 She's essentially goddess of the ocean who was bound in human form by the Bretherine Court to make the seas safe for Man. (Or something like that) Also, if I'm not mistaken. The other members of the Bretherine Court are based off of real life pirates from that era. Or at least their "Jolly Rogers"(flags) are based on real pirates.
37:42 everyone seems to forget that Jack is actually a captain of a ship, or supposed to be and as such he knows how a ship works and how its build with all rigging and sails, so when he grabs a rig, he knows where its sail will eventually bring him (speaking of working with his environment) The charakter of Captain Jack Sparrow lives on the ship for his whole life, thats why his walk on the land is all wanky, he knows how to handle a ship really good
Oh yeah! I heard if you're on sea for so long you get used to the rocking, so it's super disorientating on a steady surface. Like when astronauts get so used to space their bodies lag and forget that things don't float.
Although the first three movies are the really good ones, there ARE two more. And I would still love to see your reaction to them (unpopular opinion but I really like them too in their own way).
This it´s a phenomenal movie, with a total rollercoaster at the end. Some facts: - I think that Norrington it´s a very underrated character. In his best or his fallen, his behaviour was always like a real MAN. That final redemption, leaving Elizabeth and the rest the chance to escape, honors him. And of course he loved her in all moment, and deserved that final kiss. - Jack´s father it´s Keith Richards, the guitarist of the legendary Rolling Stones.
Davey Jones and Calypso's scene together is one of my favourite scenes of all time. to seeing Davey so vulnerable and Calypso also showing that she does have feelings for him even though shes been cruel to him. its such a tragic but beautiful story between a man and a "Godess"
Dude I love you reaction! Not everyone picks up on Jones‘ heart making him emotional in proximity. You seem to have the same love for this series that I do. It’s truly the perfect trilogy. If you continue with the other 2 films I‘ll tell you this. The 4th is a fun film as like a side story but its not truly the same greatness. They focused too much on jack which as much as we love him he‘s the comic relief side character not the main protagonist. It threw off the whole feel of the plot and it felt more like a cool DnD session. And the last one I wouldn’t even consider as a part of the franchise. They tried the formula that worked in the first place but failed in the execution because the main couple didn’t have any chemistry and the plot was weak. They did do Barbosa proper though. The Gore Verbinski trilogy is just impossible to top.
This is a brilliant movie. Very talented people crafted it with care and passion backed up by a lot of money. Phenomenal acting, outsanding visuals, superb soundtrack, really entertaining characters. I could hardly name a more entertaining adventure movie than this one. It's so good. Lot's of callbacks to the previous movies, ( sea turtles, the dog, Elizabeth giving away her love for Will the same way the pirates gave away how much the wanted that medal, etc... ) expanding on the familiar characters but keeping them faithful to their own lore, etc. The sword's journey is amazing. Will made that sword for Cmdr. Norrington loved that sword and he told Will that he expects care and devotion from him ( talking about Elizabeth ) after he pardon's him at the end of the first episode. He then in turn gets stabbed with the same sword for deciding to help Elizabeth ( showing care and devotion ) by no other than Will's dad whose son is on a mission of care and devotion to free his father. Then Will gets killed by the very same sword he made himself and in turn he stabs the heart of Davy Jones with his father's knife that he carries himself as a reminder/token of his care and devotion. :) IDK I just love the clever use of items in these movies. Like the talismans the pirate lords had. You would think they were some magical objects and all looked the same or at least part of the same thing but they were just junk they had in their pockets when they bound Calypso. Also Johnny Depp said he used Keith Richards ( Rolling Stones ) as an inspiration when he "created" Jack Sparrow and 2 movies later here is Keith Richards playing Jack's dad. It must have been really cool. :) There is one thing I have not seen anyone mention is that his daughter who was 7 years old at that time was very ill and her kidney was failing so he basically lived in a hospital and obviously seen a lot of very sick kids. Shortly after he started doing these hospital visits dressed up as Capt. Jack Sparrow to bring some joy and happiness for those kids. No press, no photoshoots, etc it wasnt for him, it was for the kids. There are a few videos about some of these visits but afaik they were all filmed by parents and the hospital staff. I have always found this very touching and it speaks volumes of his character. I believe they awarded him for his support for these kids battling cancer.
😂😂 "Cut the cheese". I think you meant "cut to the chase" unless you want people to just start passing gas and watching the reaction. lol Regardless, I'm sure this will be a fabulous reaction as always. Let's go!
Behind the scenes content is surprisingly good for this trilogy. I recommend checking them out if you want to see how much fun they had filming these :D
Because the trilogy is amazing the fis after this are not. He probably heard all the nagtive stuff about them. The 4th one is ok, it has its moments bjt its not great. And the 5th one is just an abomination that should never be mentioned again.
💯 the performances are amazing, especially Geoffrey Rush 😭 I’d like to join the Barbossa fan club as well 🙏🏻 watching these with you has been such a pleasure!! And in case no one has said, yes, Jones changing into a monster was because he was not doing his duty to the souls!
My favourite of them all! Bro this was such a great reaction! You also have to see the deleted scene between Jack and Beckett, as to why they had their disagreements! It's so. Damn. Good.
Elizabeth swan: from a rich noble women to queen of the pirates😂😂😂 well she always liked the pirates. And the funny part is that it was never showed another election so unless some kind of rule she still is the queen 😂
I feel like you missed the parallels with Elizabeth/Will and Calypso/Davy Jones. Also, Elizabeth has been a pirate from the start. She knew so much about Pirates and I have a theory that if the series had continued with the actress, it would have been about her ultimately becoming a pirate and choosing Jack. It's one of the reasons she's attracted to him. Will was never really cut out to be a pirate and Elizabeth longs for the sea. That's why the compass points toward Jack when she's holding it in the second movie.
Jack represents the freedom Elizabeth always longed for, but it’s nothing romantic, ever since they were kids she’s had eyes for will, and for the compass thing, when they were on the ship after she found jack in tortuga, norington was asking liz if she wants to know how will ended up on the flying dutchman in the first place, and then she looks at the compass because that’s what she wants, to know, and the compass points to jack, meaning the answer is with jack, and that’s why she closes it looking pissed, i agree on how she’s always been a pirate at heart, and so by choosing will she already chose freedom, will made treated her right, he taught her how to fight and be stronger, with will she can always be herself, and that’s why she was so ‘ready’ to get married.
It looks like you missed some details/information. Elisabeth never had a thing for Jack, she only kissed him at the end of the last movie to distract him while she was chaining him to the ship. But she does feel guilty for basically sacrificing him, that's why she wants to find him in this one. Also because they literally need him at the Brethren Court. Also, YOU NEED TO WATCH POST CREDIT SCENES 😭 They're so important man, you'd know what happened to Elisabeth and in general those post credit scenes give you info/set up future movies.
..and here ends the Great Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy. These three movies are one of the G.O.A.T.s of Hollywood. The fourth one is still fun to watch. It's like the Hobbit was to LotR. The fifth one however, is like Rings of Power was to LotR.

I personally prefer pirates 4 to pirates 3, that makes you understand how good this series is (except for the 5th where Disney was already the garbage it is today and treating Depp badly as was Amber heard)

when they came out i thought the same. but after years and rewatching them , theyre still good movies as just movies. if we dont compare them to the first three..
If there’s a Barbosa fan club out there can I get the invite?
There is, you join it by watching the rest of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies 😆👍
I also absolutely love Geoffrey Rushs performance as Barbossa. He elevates every scene he's in.
We can make our own😂

here's a major detail that got cut from the final editing
Lord Beckett and Sparrow have a past
"each lived a mark on each other"
Beckett got to mark Jack as a pirate, because jack didn't keep his part of the deal
what was cut is a scene between Jack and Beckett meeting again, Jack says "people aren't cargo mate"
Jack freed 100 slaves he was supposed to deliver to Beckett way back when
so Beckett burns his ship down
and Jack runs to Davy Jones, in order to make a deal to bring it back
as she was resurrected the Black pearl, Jack Sparrow would captain her for 10 years
and then join Davy Jones's crew to serve before the mast
that was the deal,
but jack got mutinied, and only "technically captained for 2 years"
of course none of that matters to Jones,
but the whole deal with the slaves is all Jones says he's worth 100 souls
that's why Jack became a pirate
for freeing slaves that were "cargo" for Beckett
Davy Jones was in love with the sea (Calypso), for how chaotic, beautiful, and unpredictable she was. It's a tragic but beautiful story.
