I have one small Persian carpet from Iran, which I cherish. I meditate upon it everyday. The colours and pattern are so beautiful. As it was 60 years old when I got it, the dear weavers have probably passed on by now. Their craft and dignity live on in my home.
I've witnessed this many times during our visits and stays among Ashayer and villages on the outskirts ofShiraz. The ones I enjoyed the most where of young girls weaving their own rugs to add to their dowry and the pattern was embedded in their memory and so was the song, smiling while weaving their hopes and dreams in their rug. Thank you for making a film on this very beautiful art.
This is amazing. a while back I bought a rug for $6000. Now I think I got a huge bargain knowing how its done. Kudos to all people trying to preserve their cultures and ways of life
What a touching tradition, still alive while so many other songs of working have vanished. I think the work of creating so lovely pieces of craftmanship while singing is just so incredibly beautiful. I hope this lovely tradition doesn't vanish!
We humans often forget that for every hand wovern carpet we buy is result of hard artistic labor that goes into creating that carpet. I salute to all those still in this business of hand wovern precision. Their legacy lives on in the carpet that they created
Wow , how beautiful , Thanks for sharing such lovely history . It reminded of my mother doing exactly same , singing whilst making beautiful Persian rugs
I just read today for the first time, in Janice Summers's book, about weavers' chanting. This documentary is a wonderful TH-cam find, wonderful to have it available and to be so clear in its details.
Refig! This is beyond profound! The vibration of the love coming from within the weavers directly weaves in the structure of the rugs itself. The completed rug resonates throughout creation and carries the songs, love, and harmony into the lives of all, through its intelligent design and poetic structure. Harmonizing choas into beautiful, benevolent order. The work you are doing is beyond important and necessary. My heart wells up with Divine benevolent bliss. Your PhD will be groundbreaking and revolutionary! You are shedding light on the dark perspectives, narrow mind and closed hearts. Your future and all of Huemanities is bright and prosperous! You are changing lives for the better! Your role in this World is grandiose! Merci Koka. Merci to All who are on this journey with you. To you and all of the co creators that took part in this project, I say to you, from my entire heart. Thank you!
These weavers are wonderful talented people who deserve top money for their talent. I hope one day their gift will enable them to demonstrate their skills to the highest level.
This is Beauty. It made me happy just to watched them and listened to them singing and doing the carpets. Keeping their tradition alive. Now I can also see the work, it’s not only a carpet, there’s so much more in it. It’s the love, the music, keeping the oral tradition... Well done to the people who showed this to the world and thank you.
I talk my knitting patterns when I work. It is soothing and helps me keep my stitches straight. It makes perfect sense to hear them singing as they work.
wow, WOW --- SO INCREDIBLY FASCINATING !!!!!! I weave...... learning about this .....deeply moved ..... as human beings we must not lose this knowledge
This art and heritage is so beautiful. I also like to watch Mr. Carpet a rug cleaning channel. I see some incredible rugs trashed with so much dirt that it breaks my heart 😢. If I ever have the privilege to own one, it will be loved and respected.
Such a fascinating and beautiful tradition ! I hope it gains recognition and efforts are made to document, protec and transmit it further so that it doesn't get lost.
Oh wow this is so fascinating and indeed a beautiful culture! Thanks for making this document and I really hope this invaluable tradition keeps go on for long long time and gets preserved!
Thank you for this. These folks are beyond amazing. It’s not easy working like that - small detailed areas - but they enjoy it which is why their work is so phenomenal. God Bless them.
So good to see this in action. It is so calming to see the weavers in sync and in some way I think these very sound vibrations get imbibed in the carpet which then radiates that in the place it inhabits. What a tradition and kudos to the team that is bringing this to light.

I have woven a carpet. 2 years on a single carpet. A frustrating but memorable and mind shaping experience!

Synesthesia as a practice, as an art form. May Mehdi's efforts be blessed.

Too bad the sales aren't direct to the weavers without all the greedy middlemen . the weavers deserve the highest percentage of the sale .
Thank you!
