Perfect! I like everything about this restoration. I especially like how you didn't flame boil the handle, but allowed it to change color on its own over time. That is how I like to see restorations on such tools. Thumbs Up!
Mi-a comandato cineva de pe amazon , super bluing e bun si el , dar costa mult si e putin . E ulei normal de motor , e ce mi-a ramas de la schimb si am pus intro sticla de ulei cu Bmw ca aia am gasit :))
@@GarageRestoration The Ship of Theseus is an artifact in a museum. Over time, its planks of wood rot, or break, and are replaced with new planks. When no original plank remains is it still the Ship of Theseus? If you apply the same idea to the axe - is it still the same axe?
Buy new ash handle at Ace Hardware for $17 complete with new wedge. Knock-out old handle with wood chisel. Install new handle with steel wedge. Sharpen Axe. Chop wood. One hour passed. I did this with my Paw-Paw's 90-odd-year-old double-bitted axe last year I got with his house when I bought it. I think it may have been HIS Daddy's axe down on the farm as he brought it from Arkansaw when they came to Tulsa in 1943-it's fine steel, so it may be ALOT older. I've replaced hoe and shovel and hammer handles too and didn't think it deserved a U-toob video-just thought it was common sense! Fixed Hand planes and hand saw handles too (made them in the shop on a scroll saw). I forget "Common sense" ain't no more.
@@GarageRestoration bluing solution is the easy way (and the least durable way), which is why it is cheating. Hot bluing is better. Even painting is more durable than cold bluing.
@@GarageRestoration Hot bluing is done by raising the temperature of the metal above the polymerization temperature of the oil it is dipped in. If you use boiled linseed oil you don't need to go over 200C (at most). And at 200C no steel will suffer. Just paint on the oil and stick it in the oven at 200C for a while. The method you used makes a very thin porous layer which will make the metal rust if the oil gets removed.
Your a genius. Fixed an axe with a broken handle? Who would have ever thought that was possible
and what I said is impossible for anyone else to do , or you're just a troll ?
Just messing with ya pal. Good job😁
Hi my Romanian friend. Picture quality of course, first class. Renovation of this old ax worked very well. Cool.
I also liked the video quality. I wonder what model of camcorder he has?

Are you familiar with the thought experiment 'The Ship of Theseus' ?
No

что за ? :))
I wish bluing was never invented
I'm wondering why ?
They
Wasting time to make a handle, go Home Depot buy a hardwood handle more practical.
They do not work because they are soft and do not fit at all
Bluing solution? Cheater.
what ?
@@GarageRestoration bluing solution is the easy way (and the least durable way), which is why it is cheating. Hot bluing is better. Even painting is more durable than cold bluing.
HOT bluing is ok , but ….It can damage the durability of the material, so I used this method 😇

I made HOT blue on the stilson key, it worked well ... I'll do it again in the future, thanks for the advice 😇🤝
