7:00 just to answer your question sub zero comes from a race called Cryomancers and their history originates from the Realm of Edenia the cryomancers were exiled by Queen Sindel (katana’s mother btw) by the order of Shao Khan to earth realm because they were a threat to his rule. Also there are actually two subzeros Bi Han (which is the one believed to be the one who killed scorpion’s family) and his little brother Kuai LIang (who was named tundra before taking the name sub zero after his brother) Also which makes matters worse the shirai ryu (scorpion’s clan ) is a defect branch of rebels (that called themselves ninja to mock Lin kuei) broke away to Japan the lin kuei (Who are from China) do not call themselves ninja at all and consideres the word an insult I Know this is a lot but Hope this helps XD

Really fun movie. I wish it was a bit longer so the pacing was a bit better but it was still not slow by any means. Just wishing some fights were longer like Liu Kang vs Kabal and such. But great overall! My favorite characters in the movie: Sub zero, Scorpion and Kano.

It's mortal kombat. Some of the heroes need to die to be more faithful to the game storylines, and it's kinda lame if the good guys all win. I wanna see fatalities from the villains too lol
Honestly, it was pretty good, like it was about them coming together before the tournament which I thought was cool, I really didn't mind that some of the characters died cause a, they can easily come back. Like Mileena is a clone so she can come back. And b, we can see newer villains and ninjas in the mortal kombat lore

The first act i fully get the plot but when it got to the part kano betrayed them the story plot plummeted with you can tell thats ob purpose with the combat becoming fan service which i dont hate. If scoring here... Tl/dr: overall its 6.5 out of 10 imo or in “how many times i would fully rewatch it” count maybe 1-2 more times and thats it. Effects: 8 out of 10. I could see some eh parts but overall its good especially the finisher/signature moves. Set (background and costumes) 6.5 out of 10. Ngl some parts were eh. Imo like kabals look which you can tell his costume is cheap cheap. They put in more effort for sub-zero and scorpion which i get but for sure kabal was kinda last throught of (since ppl didn’t know he was in it till few months back compare to others.) hence quality for him is lacking. Characters: 7 out of 10 and this base on presence too. Again kabal felt like he was thought of way later in set shooting. Wtf is nitara in here since if i remember right last time ppl saw her was avg 14 years ago in the mk games. Reptile they double down on looking like an actual lizard which is eh to me. Kung lao died which bugged me a bit. Yeah odds is he becomes a revenant maybe but still. Cole ngl is okay but he doesnt really have much of a uniqueness to him besides (cough) literal plot armor. Raiden varies. I fully get and accept he is japanese but he is missing that personality fans know from the old film and games. Mileena idk whats her involvement truly. Rest pf characters are okay. But best of course is scorpion and sub zero with kano imo i liked but sad he got killed off. Story: 6 out of 10. First act i followed well then got to next and beyond it dropped. References/cameos: 8.5 out of 10. The lines like fatality, kano wins, finish him i like. Plus known moves and fatality finishers are great in this film. Overall if rhey make a sequel pray it gets better or worst case follow the curse like what annihilation became. If picking favored films imo i say scorpions revenge is up there, then 90s mk film, this and annihilation.

They should have spaced the fights out more. Their weren’t many standouts between the first and last. They basically gave Cole Tanyas powers. She appeared in Mk4 for the first time, shes an Edenian like Kitana and Jade, she’s a pyromancer (uses fire and has glowing tattoos much like Coles armor when he gets hit) , wields Tonfas (the weapon Cole uses) and is the exact same color scheme as Coles armor.
So in this movie the person who's Sub-Zero is actually Noob Saibot aka the evil Sub-Zero while the good one that most people know is the younger brother to the evil one
Scorpion always loses at first, he's killed, then comes back after escaping hell as a vengeful specter seeking revenge against Subzero. Also this is the first Subzero the bad one from the first two games, who is killed, the good Subzero is the younger brother who comes in later. Around the third game I believe.
Imma bet Kung Lao will return as a Revenant. Like Quan Chi will surely show in the sequel and Sub Zero will turn as noob saibot and Scorpio will feel that presence that he needs to fight him off again, that is where Quan Chi will show up and have a deal with Scorpio to return and fight for the tournament against Noob Saibot as well as turning Kung Lao as a revenant by Quan Chi. Then Liu Kang would fight off Kung Lao to redeem his soul or something.
If they follow the games' stories, Sub-Zero coming back as a pitch black Noob Saibot would be kinda poetic since he got turned to ash by Scorpion's hell fire And if the second Sub-Zero is in this movie universe, I hope they follow the games' in that case too, cuz he joins the heroes to fight for Earthrealm, and even tho Scorpion starts out trying to hunt him down, he learns that this new zero is a good dude and becomes his ally/protector
Cole is a Descendant of Scorpion..Raiden saved that baby centuries ago so Hanzo(Scorpion) bloodline will continue and produce a chosen warrior when he will be ready. I love this movie..PERFECT!
Jax finally got given a power. He’s a technopath. He manipulates technology at will. Means he can now customize his arms for whatever purpose he needs. Also Sub-Zero is still alive. We’re just going to see him as Noob Saibot next time. We all knew he would die in this movie, we need to see the good Sub-Zero to avenge his brother.

Jax finally got given a power. He’s a technopath. He manipulates technology at will. Means he can now customize his arms for whatever purpose he needs.
Also Sub-Zero is still alive. We’re just going to see him as Noob Saibot next time. We all knew he would die in this movie, we need to see the good Sub-Zero to avenge his brother.
