    Fiskars is a surprisingly good company, it is known mostly for sewing supplies, but Fiskars also makes a wide variety of Outdoor gardening tools. Plus Fiskars has been around for 300 years and has a real good business model. It almost makes me want to take a Finnish Woman to wife and then tell everyone that my search for a good woman is Finnished.😉😊

    This series is more of a wilderness survival, could you do another one for urban survival?

    • @willb3018
      @willb3018 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The way things are going you may not want to survive in an urban area. 😉 But yes, your suggestion is a good one if we can't afford gas to get out of the urban areas.

      All of those tools can be used in an Urban Environment so you are already getting a twofer.

    • @cfus8987
      @cfus8987 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. More urban survival items would be much more practical. But this is NOT to take away from the importance of the tools being discussed.

      URBAN SURVIVAL:
      1-Have enough food AND WATER on your premises to not have to leave your property.
      2-Have enough guns, ammo, and shooters (relatives, friends, etc) on your premises to keep others off your premises.
      3-Stay on your premises until the number of survivors in surrounding urban area is excessively low, then escape to rural area.

      All of the above tools can be used in an Urban environment example: the pry bar it can be used to pry open a door and seek shelter also could be used as a weapon if needed

    I have discovered that home depot carries a lot of great gear at decent prices for the normal working man. I love the idea of carrying a pail with you. We have a 1gal pail in our car for campfire use, just in case our kid has a upset stomach, and as a carrying tool.

    Nice video! I’d add to this lift from home depot:
    1. Med Sized shovel: defense, building, demo
    2. Gorilla tape: obvious survival reasons
    3. Wasp spray: defense for bugs, animals & crazy people
    4. Tarps, 6 mil drop cloth, bungee cords: shelter
    5. Micro butane torch: fire starting
    6. I want that multi tool!

    Hi Tim,
    The only things I can think of the top of my head to add would be some kind of covering like a tarp if it is raining or to make some kind of tent for coverage or carry water, tools, etc or drag something or someone injured or materials, blanket if they have the survival kind, a firestarter of some kind, twine or paracord something you could tie stuff with or use for fishing would be very helpful! I might change the flashlight to a solar powered flashlight if it is for survival because the batteries might not last long enough if you are keeping them stored for long periods of time and maybe some kind of thing to cook food on even if you switch to a smaller bucket or pale/pot with a lid and use the lid if you have to I am not sure what sizes they might have or pan but getting and cooking food is a priority for survival!
    I really like the bucket idea because a simple thing has so many purposes that you can use it for!
    I am not sure what I would give up or change to get some of the things that I mentioned! Most likely it would be something awkward or heavy tool that is similar to one of the smaller tool's that could do a similar job like one of the cutting tools!
    I WANT THAT MULTI TOOL!
    Like you I always try to be prepared for all emergencies! You can try to be ready for anything, but just do the best with what you've got!
    Stay Safe, George

    I want that multitool! Very good stuff. Never thought of a pry bar, need to throw one in my truck. I use buckets for a lot of stuff. I made back pack straps out of duct tape on one, loaded a small tent, some cooking items, some paracord, and a 5x8 tarp in one and camped on a river island across from my house when I was a teen. Got out of school Friday, grabbed my bucket, and rafted out. Miss those days.

    Fiskars and Estwing are both quality tools. The longer hatchets, 16-18 ", are popular for camp chores. Coast knives not so much but their flashlights are ok. A crowbar can be used to dig with, maybe a cat hole or something.

  • @mannihh5274
    @mannihh5274 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Fiskars tools are great, I own a whole lot.
    #4: a splitting axe is a special tool, it's not great for anything else. For felliing trees you're better off with a felling axe like the Fiskars-A18. You can split wood too, as well as slicing veggies or meat as a knife-substitute.
    Quite a decent set of 10 items, but I miss cordage of some kind.

    • @johnjones5511
      @johnjones5511 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a person who has cut a lot of wood I agree that a splitting maul used to cut a tree down is a joke the person that suggest using it has not chopped down any real trees.

    I have a stack of Home Depot buckets and lids. Prices sure went up.
    In the Paint Department, they sell a cushion seat lid that swivels that fits the bucket. It's great.
    Also, Walmart has a toilet seat that fits on the bucket in the Camping Department.
    Cabela's has a nicer toilet seat called the Luggable Loo.
    Get lots of buckets!!!!

    So the bucket is an interesting concept. But I’d probably go smaller form. Like a coffee can filled with survival items. You can use the coffee can to boil water in, to carry living food, carry a smoldering ember, etc. Learned that from Les Stroud.

    Great selection of tools. I know not everyone will see it that way, but to each his own. I have a few Fiskar tools myself, and I'm quite happy with the quality of them. I have never had a bad one, and a couple of the ones that you mentioned are ones I don't have just yet. I had recently looked at one of the Estwing hatchets, but the one I was looking at was one of the original ones with the leather disk handles. I have one of the hammers like that, and I bought it when I was 17. It's my very first hammer I bought, and I'm still using it at age 63. So, the quality is there for sure.

    What I liked about the video was that it was a different take on items than can be used for survival. They common sense to things like a crowbar/prybar very much a multi-use item same as the bucket! Dave Canterbury has mentioned that a bucket, pack basket or even a trashbin on a packframe the possibilities of a piece of kit like that are endless.

    I'm gonna stop into Home Depot the next time I'm in their neighborhood. I need to buy some lumber there anyway. The Fiskars equipment looks great, and I know from experience that their tools are commendable and get the work done. The long axe is on my list of things to get for my SUV, along with the hand saw.
    And yeah, I'd love to have the Gerber multitool. I have some Gerber things here at my house in Davisville, West Virginia, and it does get used!
    Have a fantastic week, Sir.

    I think ur on the right track looking for tools/stuff for “survival/shtf” at home depot. Not many are aware HD has stuff that fall into the category. I also need a multitool for the truck so. I WANT THAT MULTITOOL!

    Good ideas. Most people have a home depot near them. Good for starting to get prepared because who knows what is going to happen next?!
    I want that multitool!
    Thanks for the giveaway.

    Was just at HD today. That ax is nice. We did get a bucket as my wife likes to use it for the clippings when she prunes the orchard
    I want that knife 🤠
    Good list thank you

    I like the idea of the bucket for sure. Been thinking of adding one in the mix. Of course I would mind having the multitool but I would give to buddy of mine who recently lost his..Awesome video. Thanks for the insight.

    Great perspective on normal items we see, use or walk by everyday that we can use for multi purpose things and survival! I want that multi tool!

    The saws and Axes. And definitely the flashlight and bucket
    However I don't want the Gerber multi tool. I have leathermans and you are right leathermans are the king of multi tools. Great video lots of good information.

    Wow this is probably one of the most thoughtful, creative, survival videos ever produced and posted on a social media platform 😃👍👌.
    Great and thoughtful content man 💡🎓👍👌. I have a fiskars ax too, but mine isn't like that model you bought.
    I might look into picking up some of these items from my local home depot too 😊. Great video again 👍.

    A useful and well-presented video. While I was watching, I was clicking the links below and tossing items into an online HD shopping cart! Oh, yeah: I want that multitool! Thanks.

    Your video was very helpful for people who aren’t already prepared saws are always good to have. Big pry bars like those big rock pry bars would be a good thing to have in your house to maybe go a little more in depth next time but I really liked you I really like your videos. I want that multitool!

    Good video. I think folks sometimes overlook obvious places like big box stores when they're looking for these kinds of items. Or you have people who think they have to spend a ton on stuff like that to get good items. I WANT THAT MULTI-TOOL!

    I always thought that a road flare might be a good thing to have in Bear county. Bear spray works okay, most of the time. But I think fire would be a better deterrent.
    At the very least, it’s a good signaling or emergency fire tool.
    Home Depot sells them.
