I met Cy Grant many times as a child in the 1970s when he came to stay in our house, Cy was a close friend of my father.
The last time I saw him was in 1997 when he made a speech at my fathers funeral.

I remember Cy Grant and his appearances on BBC TV, This video has just informed me of things that I never knew about him, On tv he always appeared as a very down to earth easy going person I used to look forward to his appearances on the telly, I often wondered what had happened to him, it's nice to hear that he lead a fruitful life after the war, R.I.P Cy.

As a little boy in the late 1950's I absolutely adored Cy Grant for his brief slots in the Today programme; a small english boy in a Lancashire mining village 50 years ago. In those days there were so few TV programmes that the regular personalities became like aunties and uncles, part of the family. I have never forgotten his warm personality and for some reason had to look him up on here.....
What a wonderful resource TH-cam is ! I never heard about his wartime experiences before.

Just watched his daughter on antiques Road show (Feb23) explaining the escape map that he had lost, it was miraculously returned to him like 50/60 years later by a finder that tracked it back to him. He was a true hero. God bless him & his service.

I just thought Cy Grant was awesome as Ra in "At the Earth's Core". I had no idea the real man was such a treasure. Soldier, musician, singer, actor, philosopher... Cy Grant continues to entertain and inspire even after his passing.

I remember seeing him in Hampstead in the Tonight years, and being surprised that he was so tall. RIP Cy.

Great man! I have met Him on Ananda Marga Yoga festival in Poland in90's. We did a performance: He spoke a verses of Tao The King and I sang overtones. He was very interested in Taoism and did everyday TaiChi. God bless you!

Does anyone have articles/books on Cy Grant or are you willing to share memories? I would love to put together something for posterity at a library on folk music and have him represented.
