    That Roman dagger is incredible. It’s amazing how a thick layer of rust actually preserves the metal underneath- but only if the metal is good enough quality to start with.

    kudos to the conservator who successfully restored this Pugio and its sheath !
    the corrosion of the blade must have broken the thin silver sheets of the sheath on several points for otherwise it wouldn't have been that rusty and crusty.- curators down in Bavaria do quite a good job if they want to !
    ........ 10:20 maybe the English should just call some Bavarians next time ......
