I've always been fascinated by how Japanese people live, my close friend I went to school with is Japanese (well half) and her mother is full Japanese so going over to her house was real interesting since they have futons instead of beds and we sit on the floor to eat on a small table so it's like a mini Japan at her house here in the US.

And I do like traditional Japanese housing to like in Kyoto which will be my first place to head and also learn kendo and swords, also I’m willing to sacrifice everything I got, my family, my game systems which idk if I can bring it? Can I bring it? Then my passport but only if I became a Japanese citizen but not person and all the documentation and how to know where to apply for a permanent residency visa

yes, i agree this would be super helpful. in the meantime, i recommend checking out subreddits like r/japanlife and r/movingtojapan. there are also several facebook groups you can join; either for general japan living or more specific regions and areas. there are tons of knowledgeable people out there eager to answer questions, so i’m sure you’ll find someone. hope this helps, and best of luck to you; stay safe!

I have a friend that worked in real estate for a few years, and his advice was to price match in offices with similar properties you can find in the sites I mentioned. In the meantime I will probably use minpaku until I can solidify a home, but thanks for the suggestions!

I mean, their price do seem slightly higher, but the no extra-cost (no 礼金 etc... except for contract money), no dealing with refusal only because you are a foreigner, and the easy move-in, move-out policy might seem pretty interesting for short term stays of up to a year. But I only discovered them recently, so I have only a handful of info. Minpaku look like you'd be coughing up quite a lot of money while searching for a new home.

Cathy Cat I am a butcher at the largest Grocery store in US, and have been interested in working in Japan, I also airbnb a large property that requires constant maintenance, which keeps me from being able to stay in Japan for too too long, but I want to make it work!!
I think I'd definitely would want to try a Shared House to share experiences with people from all over and to get out of my comfort zone! Ideally I would stay there for atleast a month but for now I have to save up $$$ and make my dream a reality on day!!! 🥰😇🙏🙌💜

yes, university tends to be 4 years whereas junior college is only 2 years, for both you can start at 18. Apart from college of technology which you attend from 16-20

so am I right to understand that you would need a stable constant paid job to be able to rent an apartment for yourself or could you have a job that wouldn't pay a constant each month and it would just not make you as reliable.
My sensei once told us a story about her staying in a host family. The biggest problem was Japanese stereotypes about Russians. According to sensei members of her host family, every day drank Vodka. Like: "Hey, you in Russia constantly drink vodka, don't you? Go and drink with us". *Attention! Shock content*, we don't drink so much alcohol, and drinking every day is not an option for most people. Tea is more preferable. So Japanese stereotypes of your country might be an issue.
@@nyleen Japanese properties tend to be smaller than in western countries. This is specially true in Tokyo, so don't be too surprised by that. Also, it can be a bit tricky to find properties with more than 3 bedrooms.

@マナンナンアナメ to obtain a long term visa to Japan, not the usual 90 day max stay, you need to deposit in yen cash equivalents near 300k in a Japan bank. People can have work visas but I’m talking retiring to Japan. (Called General visa exemption agreement for the wealthy)
@@MrDboydeluxe The government needs to know you won't be a burden on their system, pay taxes and medical and that you have enough money to do it. So open a bank account and deposit the money. You will probably at first get a 1 or 3 year Visa and when you want to renew, they will want to see that you have maintained your finances before giving you another extension.

I work in the I.T. field and wanted to work and live in Japan for a year or two, I guess I need to find a job there first.
the temp agencies don't pay well but they will get you a visa. You need a college degree or like 10 years experience tho
I see mostly 2 yr. contracts. Are there places (regular apartments) that have shorter contracts like one year?
