When I started Fencing fifty years ago the sentiment was: Never do as much as possible, rather, do as little as necessary. Now, it seems be: Always do as much as possible to conceal how little is actually necessary. Similar results, different strategy?
It's sad to see that top level olympic play involves whipping the sword like a car antenna. The weapons are originally representing thrusting weapons. over the shoulder whip attacks mean nothing.
Matthew Pham I’m subscribed to him? Don’t know his name. Maybe subscribed long time ago, but my comment stems from my 15 years studying traditional fencing with maestro Nick Evangelista.
That's like saying "imagine if soccer was with a stone, what a silly sport!" No shit that's why the sport is the way it is and not whatever you imagined it to be lmao
4:05 is -- without question -- the most frightening thing I've ever seen in the sport....damn near had another Smirnov.
Ikr how the hell was she just ok after that
Holy fack
@@mlevin7 Seems she has an FIE face.
I suppose the adrenaline after seeing her teammate won kicked in. But yeah, holy shit someone just about lost an eye there.
@@samsignorelli lol
Respect to Miles for actually caring that he hurt his opponent. After all, this is a gentleman's game
Sometimes if you don’t you get a black card
@@jibbylibby9889 Not caring about your opponent is not a black card offense.
@@samsignorelli not shaking hands after a bout can be
@@jibbylibby9889 True...except during the pandemic, which caused a change. but that's still not the same as plowing over someone and not caring.
@@samsignorelli I agree with that.
1:42 love to see Kim Junghwan got so friendly with Dershwitz after their match. And also love to see Kim sharing his happiness with the cable boy
It's really nice to see those kinds of details in a fencer. Very down to earth :)
@@FencingInsider yeah. Kim Junghwan is one of my favorite fencers, even though I like foil more
4:05 attack off target 😭
Only because it was foil.
2:25 Is the best
Miles’ best quote: oh shit, oh shit.
To this day, Montano is still running.
4:05 the moment
I wouldn't exactly call it funny, that shits scary af

2:31, the Hong Kong foil fencer: pertaining to be sabre fencer
Agree! But why say so?
The cable boy ese the best but you missed him at the end of the foil team final(Italy-USA). It was awesome, he really wanted to get the cable
The first one is me trying to kill a roach
Man....Race just got flattened in that one clip.
0:02 when I try to hit someone when they get in my face
I'm not surprised most of this was foil
4:09 she's good?
Yep, she's fine. Although nearly lost an eye in that moment.

Where did you find the last video 😂😂
It's from Alex Massialas' Instagram 😂 instagram.com/p/Bhsah6xFycj/
1:59 who got the point ?

Leonardo Rossi I think it was the Italians parry riposte but im not sure
Kasra Ehteshami Yeah parry riposte
it was counter parry from Aldo Montano
3:26ไปโกรษอะไรกันมาวะเข้าโคตรเเรง
3:34 Wait what Massialas is FRENCH!!!!
Ikr? 😂
And left-handed. And Nick Choi is left-handed (should be righty)
No they didn’t change the fencers names for this bout, look at the screen
Needs more epee clips
i don't get most of these
いやサムネ剣ぶっ刺さってる
かさね 日本人おった
Why so much foil #hailthesabreandepees
I'm glad to see there was respect when the american guy hurt someone on accident because he cared and not mean to hurt someone intentianally .
😍😍😍😍
