Hey Goldfish, Id like for you to make a video on the POT main developer and his history with the Isle. Not sure if you have knowledge on the history but the main developer was an Isle developer who ran off with the code of legacy.
True they shouldn’t have gassed it up and made it locked behind a paywall but sending death threats for a $7 dino is insane and detestable EDIT: I’m glad they heard our feedback and changed it, but recently Matt commented on Pesky’s reaction to this situation and it seems like there will be dinos locked behind a paywall once the full game releases
@@theashura4122people were upset about the fact that they had to buy another dino to play instead of getting all the Dino’s they payed for. The all Dino’s bundle was supposed to be “all playable dinosaurs”
The audacity of backers being promised _FULL ACCESS_ to the game (which should logically include literally everything in it, even unreleased official dinosaurs..) And the devs trying to act like us all thinking that was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication just _baffles_ me. I described this thing as a pay-to-win dinosaur, and I thought perhaps at first I may have been exaggerating, but it _really_ is just that. Players were already proving how strong it was at _adolescent_ growth stage in official servers. Imagine being an official player and being unable to combat or match these damn Tyrannotitans because you don't have and can't afford to buy it. It's not fair.
It certainly sets the precedent that these devs can no longer be trusted from this point forward, and that the game will likely become more and more of a cashgrab as the months go by. Then again, their whole crypto pay fiasco sort of exposed that a few years back, but this situation outright confirms it. Seems like the only semi-trustworthy devs in the dino sim genre are the Beasts of Bermuda devs at this point in time.
im a backer. never had to pay for it. they said we would never have to pay for it. but the game is trying to become free to play and solely sustained on cosmetic purchases.
I never realized how aggressive the situation got, but to me it seems like everyone is angry for the wrong reasons. A paywall for playables, regardless of the price, would be so much easier to understand if and ONLY if the game was already finished. But releasing a pay to play dinosaur BEFORE the full release is like selling new tires for a car that doesn’t have an engine in it. In my eyes, that sort of transaction is unbelievably sketchy. Why is the world would I pay for something in-game when I haven’t even recieved the full game I paid for in the first place?
@@zadas1132it's not the price tag that matters. This game has been in development for ages. Most of us bought the game already supporting the game, an they feel the need to ask for more support before the game has been released. I'd rather the game I paid for become fully developed and ready instead of releasing dinos for us to buy.
The worst part is that Matt had talked sh!t about other games and micro transactions exactly the same as Tyrannotitans. I’ve talked to jiggy semi-personally before and them and all the other devs all seem to be very genuinely nice people, im genuinely flabbergasted.
The main about putting tyranotitan behind a paywall is that it contradicts what they previously said about not having to pay for anything else once you purchased the whole game. They could of at least warn us and explain why they were doing this instead of just releasing it and hope we don't care. Still death threats are not a valid response to a pay to play dlc. Its a video game, anyone losing sleep over this and cant maturely voice their complaints should probably step away from the game and find something else to do.
Matt has said that tyrannotitan was not the mystery dino. It was a post release playable that’s been dropped earlier than expected, so we still have the mystery dino being a mystery
0:50 I believe what they mean is that they are charging for tyrannotitan because it wasn't supposed to be added until the full release of the game, so they felt it would be ok to charge money for it.
@WinterroSP Good point, forgot to mention that it was still pay to win since it's an apex with 1100 HP I think. That's more than spinosaurus, and Rex. Not to mention, the bleed is insane. Now it's free though, so it's just an overpowered playable. The biggest problem here is the death threats sent to the devs, and we don't truly know if they will or won't do this again.
It's the opposite. They're saying that because it's a pre-release dinosaur, their decision to make it paid was unfair. In other words, once we've gotten full release, the dinosaurs we get are going to be paid. At the very least some of them, but I think more likely it will be at LEAST half of them, if not most or all of them.
@@catpoke9557 it was unfair. They lied to us, twice. They said they wouldn't implement predatory micro transactions, and they said when you buy the full game you get the full game. They showed us that isn't completely true.
The teasing before Christmas without warning that this will be paid content, was a very poor decision making on their part. With that said, I don't mind paying for optional dinosaurs that aren't part of the planned main roster. Development and keeping the server infrastructure costs A LOT of money. Everyone who has actual experience with 3D knows how much work such a dino model is. Modeling/sculpting, textures, rigging and animating takes a lot of time.
If you had enough money to but the game and the device you play the game on and you're complaining about 7 fucking us dolalrs then you shouldn't have any of those privilages.
Glad the devs listened and made it free, but I hope after post lunch they’ll consider doing another crowdfunding to help fund servers if they’re struggling with that, since a lot of the roster dinos are already paid for, especially Micro, leed, and tylo. Locking things behind a paywall is never a good idea, especially this early in development.
This would be a great idea now that we know how many people didn’t mind paying for it and sucked up to the dev team. I feel that most people that were worshipping the dev team and bashing others calling them broke don’t understand how these type of decisions could kill POT’s player base meaning less money instead of more.
@@WogenTreadusIt's also hilarious how bad they are at math, or understanding other people's situations. For one, if they kept Tyranno paid and added just 4 more paid creatures, we'd then be paying $35. Not $7. It adds up. And it isn't cheap. For two, there are people who spent months saving up for the game and managed to barely get enough to afford it. Maybe it's children, maybe it's people in a bad financial situation. Either way they paid for FULL ACCESS to the game, which promised they would get all future dinosaur releases for free, and they were lied to. Some of them are also kids who asked an adult to buy the game for them. An adult who will most likely not want to buy DLCs for them because adults recognize what a scam they usually are (unless the adult is a PoT fanboy, of course.) There are lots of situations why someone actually could not buy a DLC for a game. I'm IN one of those situations. I bought the game with allowance. I don't get an allowance on a regular basis, I'm given one randomly every several years. I only have less than $100. I have like $40 or so if I recall. I managed to get PoT, I am not going to pay the price of the game again to be able to play the entire game which I already paid for full access to. Now I probably will be getting a job soon but in a way that makes it even worse because I should be saving up instead of buying DLCs. For a game that promised it wouldn't make me need to buy DLCs...
if they where struggling then they should say so and make a poll asking the community if they would support more supporter packs that are skin based the moment they try to sell dinos that have skills and stats your starting to enter pay to win area
With death threats? Yeah that's definitely the best way to show you don't want to spend puny 7 bucks for a game that gave you a massive amount of content throughout the year for free
What action? You guys are complaining towards a situation non-essential to our daily lives. Why uproar an assumption that because one dinosaur is marketed for purchase means the PoT devs will be more demeaning?
I agree fully they're gonna try to sweep this under the rug, give this a half years time where they'll believe people have forgotten and they'll have their fanboys to defend them. Remember this people, and be vigilant if they want to pull this stunt again. Matt said somewhere in the official discord they have 100k daily players and 300 official servers, they are doing completely fine and this move was made out of pure greed.
Their fanboys are already love bombing them over the death threats and pretending the death threats represent the average mentality of the people who were upset. Meanwhile it was probably like 2 people doing it.
It’s so annoying that some people keep goading others over this shit. No it is not “just seven dollars”. We payed 30 dollars for full access plus if they charged for the new Dino 37. Let’s say once the game is out they release 20 more Dino’s that’s 140 on top of the 30 already spent man. Some people can’t think for more than ten seconds. They just want to act high and mighty lol. Not to mention pot was dishonest doing this shit.
I had no idea tyrannotitan was originally paywalled. I just loaded up the game a day ago and saw it was added. Their skins are quite expensive and I admit I buy them now and then. But I don't quite have a problem with that since skins are just cosmetic. I always rationalized it thinking "I like this game. I like what they're doing and they don't paywall playables/maps/etc. I actually want to give you more money for cosmetics because I want this project to do well." I'm really disappointed by this, and am definitely going to start pulling away from supporting this game. Every dollar you add to a game is a dollar you lose. Most people get this basic principle and I'm insulted for sure with the implication that this could continue.
And that's why we always speak up if they veer off again. And we need to keep on them for this. It's not the end of the world, just.. insulting really.
Considering you can only have 50 character slots now cause of an update a couple days ago, my predictions are that there will be a “pay for character slots” next
To be fair, they have listened and made the dinosaur for free and it’s not forget the people that work in Path of Titans got death threats and that’s not cool
Nope they didn't listen, they pretended to listen to trick people. They're going to release paid creatures after the beta ends. And these death threats everyone is talking about were clearly a handful of individuals if not one individual because almost nobody has ever even seen these fabled death threats. The developers getting any number of death threats doesn't excuse their actions but it especially doesn't excuse it if 2 ten year olds went in chat and threatened them.
I wanna share my view from this and... Yeah. It was devastating for me. Like as if paying 30 dollars (30 dollars is 1050 TL in my country) wasn't enough, i had to pay 7 dollars (which is 175 TL) more was VERY devastating like i said. Rare L from Alderon. And no, this DEFINITELY isn't only my issue since.. Path Of titans has players worldwide. Glad they made it free now, though.
This is but a little slip compared to all the "The Isle" dramas. I don't play either game, but it's obvious which one of the two seems more reliable. To everyone in the comments: people keep changing within gaming companies, so never trust one completely.
This made my trust very shaky. If they plan on making the players pay money on every dino that comes out after release im just not going to play anymore. By all means, make skins to sell for money, but dont you dare put gameplay behind a paywall. It will turn into stellaris or a warhammer game with such a mass amount of dlc that people just wont bother.
Honestly, I reacted almost EXACTLY like you when I saw the trailer.... like, bro - they are making new dinosaurs (that are also a cheap attention grab because "LoOK iT'S a BIg, sCArY CaRNivOre DInOsAUr", which appeals mostly to cringy JP kids that like big dino battles), when they have a half of the creatures to redo. Not to mention that after they backtracked from the Tyrannotitan paywall, they threw some edgy DLC skin bundle, only - it was for that new dino.....Sad
Personally I would have been sort of fine with them locking something tiny like microraptor behind a paywall because unlike a freaking apex, it wouldn’t have the chance of completely destroying the game’s balance.
thank you for talking about this. I was honestly so disappointed by Alderon's actions. I mean I'm glad they made it "free" (or rather just not locked behind the paywall) but I REALLY wish they hadn't done this in the first place, cause now the trust is broken. I don't care if a playable costs 7 dollars, or 20, or just 1, the very principle of locking one behind a paywall, in a game like this, is just scummy. Even more so if it's an apex tier... I'm also disappointed in the people who act like "oh it's only 7 dollars tho, what are you, poor?" and especially those who sent death threats or otherwise behaved like rabid apes. It's important to point out such blatant BS but it's also important to do so in a civilized, constructive manner. Happy Holidays, I guess.
Not only is it pay too play but I would argue it's pay too win. The stat line of Tyrano is pretty crazy it's mobility is on par with if not better than sucho and it has an ability that gives it a self heal and it has the same health pool and combat weight as Eo with more stam than sucho and a faster trot than sucho. Also the speed stat for it is 925. for reference bars is 850 and sucho is 950 and allo is 1000. So if you are something like a sucho or amarga or alberta you are not getting away without a large headstart.
It's pretty much better than everything else in every way. I'm sure this is a "coincidence" that the most busted creature was intended to be a paid DLC...
Sad that there’s this much drama around one dino I am happy that it was added as it’s my absolute favorite dinosaur & I was happy that it made it due to how few games he’s in but here we are unfortunately 💔 (still going to get him as I’ve been dying to get him)
One of the mods in the official discord said something along the lines of "The dinosaurs that arent part of the original planned dinosaurs are not guaranteed to be free." SO that sucks. This probably wont be the last time this happens.
They have been treating the players great overall, i don't see the harm in making money bc video games are crazy expensive to make. My main issue though is its an apex, a powerful dino. Now a microtransaction for a microraptor id careless bc its weak and small. It still wasn't a great idea though.
If they're going to make a second wave of dinos that would be pay to play, I hope they at least set up a single price where you can get all of them and not individually. Hmmm where have I heard of that before 🤔
I feel like this is partially a matter of miscommunication, idk if the community would have been as mad if the devs had told us from the beginning that it would cost money and why it would.
I'm very glad you made this video. I want to preface that sending death threats is NOT okay. I hope the people that did so are banned. Putting a playable behind a paywall for a game you've paid in full, is horrible. The full backer skin pack is very expensive and it didn't even contain the titan backer skin at first. It scares me to see how many people are fine with it. It makes no sense if they want to make more money, because the skin packs cost just as much as the tyrannotitan pack but are certainly cheaper to make. They are pretty successful, being on just about every platform, they do not need to and shouldn't be doing this. As a backer from the very, very start, I'm unbelievably disappointed. If I knew they would've done this, I would not have backed it. If they went ahead and kept putting playables behind a paywall, even after this, I would stop playing. I don't think theres any way I could get all my money back, either.
As screwed up as it is, I would much rather have spent money on this instead of two certain other games that are on their last legs. At least this game’s future is more certain.
I'm really sad to see that they backtracked and made it free after people sending literal death threats. This essentially has told the community "we can threatened you to an unacceptable level and you will do whatever we want". It doesn't matter if the DLC was $100 or a million dollars there is no world where that is justifiable.
How many people actually made death threats? I saw not one death threat while the chat imploded. It was probably 1 or 2 people. 99% of the people complaining are doing so responsibly and yes, they SHOULD listen to backlash from their community.
Holy Hell this was stupid on their part. Like maybe most people wouldn't mind paying for a playable but maybe finish the damn game first like wtf. Like I dont understand how this sub-brick IQ decision was made as the Christmas update. I get Micro is probably 6 months away at best but maybe just give a free skin pack the entire countdown was returning old packs so it would have fit or maybe like a few TLCs of fan favorites or just fixing Rex with its TLC as a Christmas update.... Like anything could have been better.
Just wanted to state that it wasn’t the developers decision! Alderon games the company chose to make tyrannotitan pay to play, the devs wouldn’t have done that
Good video, I think you addressed that quite well, one thing is that I think you might have misunderstood what they meant with taking about it releasing after full release. My understanding was that the plan was to have it release as dlc after launch but they moved it forward and kept it as dlc then changed that due to the backlash. As far as I can tell there’s no plan to make it paid after full release, they just said they realised that having it paid before release was wrong. I would be very surprised if it went from free to paid later.
They don’t make a lot of money off their skins…and nobody should be going broke off of 7$, but they made it right. Which a lot of other devs wouldn’t do. Or it’d take them a lot longer to do so. This video is blown out of proportion…
3:59 I agree with everything in this video but unfortunately I still think people would stick around even if they made more shitty decisions like this one. I mean just look at the state of the isle and how diehard fans still stick with the game even after Dondi makes his 50th shitty take/balance patch of the week, granted, it could be different since this situation actually involves paying money for more content (that we were promised would be free from the get-go just by buying the game), but personally I wouldn’t bet on it. Dinosaur survival game fans don’t have a lot of games to work with, and the ones that we do have to work with come with their own problems that are either unique to each one or overlap with one another.
I don’t think adding a dinosaur for 7 dollars is a problem at all, if someone can’t afford it or doesn’t want to buy it, then they don’t need to. I think everything is heavily blown out of the water with the insane reactions. 3:10 really? Left kidney? It’s 7 dollars.
It's an extremely unhealthy practice to put content behind a paywall for a game you've paid in full for. It should not be normalized. This is not the only game people play and it's not the only game people are going to spend their money on. If it turns out OP, it's pay to win. If it turns out weak, it's a waste of your money because who knows when they'll fix it. It's a double edged sword. Even if it, theoretically, released perfectly balanced, the principle of the matter would still be there.
True it would of been only 7 bucks but that’s besides the point even the thought of locking content behind a paywall is never the way to go if they start locking some content now behind a paywall think about all the future content that’s going to be locked behind it to especially if the Dino is overpowered then the game becomes pay to win which no one wants
It was the same exact price as the skin bundles so clearly they were already making that type of money to continue working on the game ever since they first started releasing them. I think if they are still going to release DLC’s even after the feedback they should at least focus on delivering what they promised first with the game modes, foliage, microraptor and overall balancing. Although I would like to buy any future DLC’s the game is barley interactive outside of combat. So the fact that they are working on new payable’s instead of in game mechanics makes me wonder if I really want to keep supporting it or not. Death threats surprised a lot of us and has taken the spotlight away from the actual criticism but what I found surprising was just how many people were bootlicking the devs decision here almost like they couldn’t comprehend why this was a bad decision and instead tried reasoning with it.
I think they did that since every dino is in a bundle of 4 dinos, and since the current unfinished bundle has microraptor left, and making a new bundle while old is unfinished would be bad.But 7 dollar paywall with 3 skins was still not the answer
I playPpath and I am completely appalled at the community. I go get the frustration of it being "pay to win" and "locked behind a paywall" (and the fact that it wasn't announced to have a price to it), but t isn't so serious that people have to make death threats towards the developers. I do get why it is "behind a pay wall", because it isn't the mystery dinosaur, and was meant to come out after the game was complete. However It was a pretty good deal to be fair, an awesome new playable with 3 beautiful looking skins. But I do think that it was a little pricey at £7 or about $7.50 ish, I think it should have been like a solid $1 or something. But it is just a game at the end of the day.
It's actually an abysmal deal. I paid for full access which states I will get ALL future dinosaur releases for free. Their "deal" wasn't giving me a dinosaur plus multiple skins for the cheap price of $7. Their deal was making me pay for a creature I already paid for access to. Imagine this scenario. You buy a pizza from Pizza Hut. It says that it's on sale and you can buy it for $1. It's an EXCELLENT deal, so you pay for it and it arrives at your house. When it arrives, the person delivering it says "Great news! We have a new deal. We will give you this pizza for $5, which is significantly less than the regular price of a pizza. Or you can not give us $5 and not get the pizza at all. But it's such a good deal!" No, it is NOT a good deal. I already paid for the pizza. I was told I was going to get the pizza. The price they're making me pay is cheap but you know what was even cheaper? $1. Now I have to pay $6 instead because of their sudden change in the "deal." And then they return to your house later and try to sell you 10 $5 pizzas, which quickly adds up to more than the price of a regular pizza. But it's so cheap! ...which is what will happen when the game leaves beta and the developers continue to release $7 creatures. It's not going to stay a "good deal" when we have 5 paid creatures and have to pay more than the price of the game to play all of them.
This whole situation makes me kinda sad because they usually put out good updates, which made me trust them to make a good game... I dont know if I can trust them as much after this
@@FieryRed_BE the dinos have skills and stats when you give them free it makes an even playing field the moment you sell them your adding pay to win into an already buy to play game
Not the mystery it not a base game dino / backer dino ( what you paid for ) only issue was it was released before the base game Dino’s dlcs arnt a problem most games have DLCs
Too be honest I was mad at first but I don’t mind spending 7 bucks here and there for some Dino’s. It’s not like they pushing out Dino’s every month so it’s not really adding up on my bill plate. But that’s just me
the problem is that $7 later will become $20 then $50 and so on and so on the moment you give them an inch they take a mile skins sure fine but dinos that have legit skills/stats no thats heading into pay to win
@ I don’t think that would happen. If it does nobody in their right mind would buy a Dino for 50 bucks. I can see it going up to 15 at max but still too much
The only thing I have a problem with is them releasing this before finishing the backer roster and releasing it as a paid DLC as a Christmas gift. Other than that, I really don’t think having to pay for other dinos is that big of a deal.
I can already feel how Path of Titans will start to crumble when The Isle brings out Rex and Allo and when (if) they add it to console. Many people that play POT play it simply because they can’t play The Isle on console.
Honestly, seeing the quality of the mods (specially comparing gameplay features AND sound design, as, again, another carnivore with the same sounds a little edited), no reason to pay for it if they actually put it on pay4play
i honestly don't like the idea of payed dinosaurs until they somehow fix regional pricing, because the 7$ price tag would have been around 60$ for me, wich is alot of money for a single dino and some skins. this whole situation overall was just poorly miscommunicated, alot of people thought the tyrannotitan was the mystery dinosaur, and teasing it as a christmas present just to make you pay for it was an weird move. i think people had the right to be mad and complain, because, making payed DLC's this early when the game isn't even finished and receiving no backlash could mean they'd focus on making more DLC's instead of finishing the game, because it gives more money, but then again, as disappointed and frustated as i was, theres no damn excuse for death threats and im honestly ashamed that this community would even do that.
Everybody is angry about everything because everything is getting worse, we need to acknowledge that to understand why a $7 wallet grab equals death threats, people are tired of being robbed, and dissrespected, and having no other options
Hi pc AND mobile/console player here no, not really any more than they are on pc. the game costs the same, and you get the same access to everything on both versions. there is however a free version on mobile, that gives you access to 4 dinos. so if buying the game to get access to the game is dinos being behind a paywall, then both versions are equally ‘behind a paywall’
It was literally changed within an hour. If you want to find a game to shit on that had a ‘crazy situation’ go find a game like The Isle, Roblox, etc that have **actual** issues that haven’t been resolved yet. We do not need video essays on a situation that has already been resolved, and was resolved within an hour.
Bro must have no concept of the future. If they did it once, they might do it again. The point is that they did something like this in the first place.
Man is it just me or does its lower jaw look floppy and rubbery? Also lol they should definitely change the model of the cheat chunk for that one ability, I'm pretty sure if you ripped a meat chunk -that contains a bone- out of a still alive creature's leg or side it would cease to be still alive after very long
Yea this is one of the many reasons why I uninstalled PoT. The microtransactions killed the game for me. That and when they took 2 months to reallow my server to be up after shutting it down without talking to me first. Now I play BoB the most when I wanna play a dino game.
Didn't know this, just started again getting used to being deaf is hard. Charging for this isn't good but sending D threats is worse! I thought I was the biggest Alderon hater to exist, but this player beat me hands down.
I wouldn’t mind if they charged extra for ai creatures to be playable since it gives no one any advantage over others and people who buy it are just simply wanting to play as them, but keeping potentially the strongest creature in the game behind a pay wall is absurd
Well, it’s completely out of desperation mainly because they’ve only released three dinosaurs in how long of time a year? And the final one, the micro raptor was promised to be a “game changing dinosaur to the survival aspect of the game” and it’s literally the modded re-skin of the giga so I’m pretty sure prime tire is gonna be going after all around for this shit
They probably just need more money for development. Nothing is bad about it, as you have an entire roster and the ability to mod. Get over $7. Go mow a lawn or work for an hour anywhere and you can buy it.
Mfs acting like usd is the only currency in the world. My friend would need to pay over 200 for a single dino and many other players had the same issue with some having to pay waaay more. And this is just 1 dino, if they release 6 dinos each for $7 that would be $42
yeah Alderon reallly messed up with this one but the community messed up even more. sending death threats over 7$ is unbelivabley stupid, childish and makes Alderons decisions seem more logical(im not saying they did nothing wrong there just as much in this) and Tyrannotitan isnt even that busted tbh so you dont HAVE to buy just like th skins. you can if want and have funds for it but not forced and thats something ppl really overlook when crying over it.
Obviously I hate the fact it was death threated into being free, but I'm fine with having to pay for it. They got it done MONTHS in advance, and gave it to us that early?? It was meant to release with the full game, not before its even completed yet they gave it to us regardless. It being released so early makes me fine with paying for it cause they're doing a damn fine job then. They shouldnt of had it be bought given they mostly established thst envery playable for those who own the full game, would be given for free, however Alderon is a company, the devs are people, and employees, the game has servers to uphold. All three requires money and if they worked so hard to get something done, and did it well enough to release early they deserve money and an apology from the community. No Alderon apology is required for me, and somewhat was sad they made it free as theyre work shouldnt go unnoticed and unappreciated
I didn't quite understand what was said in the video, even with subtitles, I'm Brazilian, and the situation in Brazil is not at its best. This game is amazing! However, It's inevitable that this game is expensive... Especially in Brazil (I know that in other places it can be more expensive), This reminds me of when Gondwa arrived... You would have to PAY for everything that came to Gondwa, it was like a "reset" this was unacceptable and it was changed on the same day... If someone could explain to me exactly what is being said in the video, I would appreciate it...
Eles reverteram as mudanças. I hope this helps! Not a language I speak, but I appreciate the watch!
As a well-known path of titans enjoyer this shit made me so disappointed love this game and to see it fumble the bag so incredibly hard just breaks my heart no shade to the Alderaan team but whoever they let cook with this needs to be taken away from the kitchen permanently I hope if they never do anything like this ever again I love this game I don't want to ever go down the path of the, day of dragons :C
I've been eyeing the game for a little bit, but this definitely is putting me off on buying it. The one thing I'm very curious about is the whole "death threats" thing since I've been browsing the comments and _nobody_ that actually talks about seeing chat saw a single threat, and nobody has mentioned any actual proof. I'm wondering if it's a "oh, poor us!" deflection.
Here is my opinion. While I understand it can feel like bullshit to have to pay money after spending money on the game (I play the original Jurassic World: Evolution, and yeah its ass to deal with) and I completely agree with shitting on ANYTHING pay to win, I do not agree that devs that already made their game cost money can't also slap in a DLC or two. To me, as long as its fair, worth the price, and genuienly fits the game, I see no issue. any dinosaur survival game getting say, a 20$ DLC including 3 playables that are fun to use, to me seems perfectly okay. As long as it doesn't fuck with everything, and maybe you could do a small playtest with them to see if you would enjoy them to see if you would like to spend the money. I understand why people don't like it, but this whole situation is a complete over reaction to something so small.
IMO in a game like this all dinos should be free since all dinos arent the same they all have their own skills/stats and should never be behind a paywall that could end up being pay to win
You see that's why I'm not understanding if people are buying skins why are they complaining about a Dino (I personally believe buying a dinosaur is much more valuable but then again I never wasted any of my coins on skin as well)
I think them reverting it and LISTENING to the community matters a lot more than what they did. They most likely won't do it again because they listen to the community. You are making it seem like Alderon has gone corprate evil and listens to no one, stop villanizing the dev team for something they thought might have been a good idea.

The audacity of backers being promised _FULL ACCESS_ to the game (which should logically include literally everything in it, even unreleased official dinosaurs..)
And the devs trying to act like us all thinking that was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication just _baffles_ me.
The Titan sucks.
im a backer. never had to pay for it. they said we would never have to pay for it. but the game is trying to become free to play and solely sustained on cosmetic purchases.

No, it's unfair either way. I paid for full access which clearly states I get access to ALL future dinosaur releases for free. They downright lied.

It would be fine if this was a niche dinosaur, but tyranotitan, is an apex.
This changes it.
@WinterroSP Yes, your right actually. Because titan is pretty good, good bleed, good health, good speed.
As I said in the discord before the change happened: if I payed for every playable in a game I BETTER GET EVERY PLAYABLE IN THAT GAME.
literally, but if they tried once, they will do it again, I already had a bad image about the game and its community, now of the devs
An adult who will most likely not want to buy DLCs for them because adults recognize what a scam they usually are (unless the adult is a PoT fanboy, of course.)
There are lots of situations why someone actually could not buy a DLC for a game.

Not surprised of the situation this happened before with mobile players like me that every dinosaur is pay to play
And that's why we always speak up if they veer off again. And we need to keep on them for this. It's not the end of the world, just.. insulting really.
Considering you can only have 50 character slots now cause of an update a couple days ago, my predictions are that there will be a “pay for character slots” next
Actually it happened on the same day tyranno release if I remember correctly
No, they wont do that, the character slots HAVE affected servers, PTR was hit hard, youd be sitting at ripple beach for 20 minutes,
they did that because servers would set character limit to massive limits causing lag and problems with joining-
@ ptrs limit is currently like, 30, and we still got issues, 2-5 minutes at ripple with even that.
There are only 36 playables in the game. Why do you need more than 50
To be fair, they have listened and made the dinosaur for free and it’s not forget the people that work in Path of Titans got death threats and that’s not cool
Nope they didn't listen, they pretended to listen to trick people. They're going to release paid creatures after the beta ends. And these death threats everyone is talking about were clearly a handful of individuals if not one individual because almost nobody has ever even seen these fabled death threats. The developers getting any number of death threats doesn't excuse their actions but it especially doesn't excuse it if 2 ten year olds went in chat and threatened them.
they only listened due to backlash and whale those who sent death threats should be banned both partys are in the wrong
@ I absolutely agree
I bought the original founders pack b4 mobile even came out. It promised to include every playable dino on official servers, so thats what i expect.
It's been a day, I'm surprised how quickly this all blew over
Sure the dinosaur is free now, but it doesn't feel like a win. The way the community reacted to it was disgusting.
thank you for talking about this.
@@catpoke9557 Watch them rush out nerfs now that it's Free, can you imagine? Lmao

Dinosaur survival game fans don’t have a lot of games to work with, and the ones that we do have to work with come with their own problems that are either unique to each one or overlap with one another.
they would indeed stay, happens with every game, thing is people just care if a game is fun, they dont care how shitty the devs are
I don’t think adding a dinosaur for 7 dollars is a problem at all, if someone can’t afford it or doesn’t want to buy it, then they don’t need to.
Even if it, theoretically, released perfectly balanced, the principle of the matter would still be there.
it's obviously humor. But 7 dollars isn't nothing to most people
True it would of been only 7 bucks but that’s besides the point even the thought of locking content behind a paywall is never the way to go if they start locking some content now behind a paywall think about all the future content that’s going to be locked behind it to especially if the Dino is overpowered then the game becomes pay to win which no one wants
But it is just a game at the end of the day.
you can say death threats all you want, doesnt take away they being greedy ass devs
But it's such a good deal!"
No, it is NOT a good deal. I already paid for the pizza. I was told I was going to get the pizza. The price they're making me pay is cheap but you know what was even cheaper? $1. Now I have to pay $6 instead because of their sudden change in the "deal."
And then they return to your house later and try to sell you 10 $5 pizzas, which quickly adds up to more than the price of a regular pizza. But it's so cheap! ...which is what will happen when the game leaves beta and the developers continue to release $7 creatures. It's not going to stay a "good deal" when we have 5 paid creatures and have to pay more than the price of the game to play all of them.
This game does NOT have enough content or a big enougj community to warrant them even deserving to CONSIDER releasing playables with a price tag
This whole situation makes me kinda sad because they usually put out good updates, which made me trust them to make a good game... I dont know if I can trust them as much after this
Dude, they gave us 5 playables in under a year. They gave us LOTS of tlc.
@@FieryRed_BEand they ruined that streak of reliability
@@FieryRed_BE the dinos have skills and stats when you give them free it makes an even playing field the moment you sell them your adding pay to win into an already buy to play game
Is this the dino teased all the way back in the stretch goal days as the mystery dino? If so thats a shame- i was wnating a suaropod
i don't believe it is the mystery dino. just a separate surprise release
Not the mystery it not a base game dino / backer dino ( what you paid for ) only issue was it was released before the base game Dino’s dlcs arnt a problem most games have DLCs
i bought this game years ago but i forgot it exists and im happy i did
Until the community send death threats to Matt. Wow.
I just want more rosters that's all.
I am pretty sure every single Xbox player was just given the dinosaur
Many people that play POT play it simply because they can’t play The Isle on console.
kinda sounded like Alan from Smiling Friends at the very beginning
Everybody is angry about everything because everything is getting worse, we need to acknowledge that to understand why a $7 wallet grab equals death threats, people are tired of being robbed, and dissrespected, and having no other options
pretty sure its ether on Console or Mobile that alot of the dinos are actually locked behind a paywall.
Hi pc AND mobile/console player here
no, not really any more than they are on pc. the game costs the same, and you get the same access to everything on both versions.
there is however a free version on mobile, that gives you access to 4 dinos.
so if buying the game to get access to the game is dinos being behind a paywall, then both versions are equally ‘behind a paywall’
The point is that they did something like this in the first place.
at least the isle isnt trying to nickle and dime its players
Why does zawg treat like POT is perfect? NO GAME IS PERFECT 😭😭, all games have their issues
since they released that monster i just cant play alone, there are 347263642 squads of tyranos everywhere, i bet 90% of servers dinos are tyranos
I genuinely don’t understand what other reaction they expected? Like yes, sending death threats is insane…but so is pulling what they did.
This is why i play BoB
Fr
It really is the best of the bunch... Shame the dated graphics and toxic community seriously hold it back though.
Anyway besides the whole microtransaction situation, how do you feel about Tyrannotitan?
And this is just 1 dino, if they release 6 dinos each for $7 that would be $42
@@bokadam2851hes a kid, what you expected from a player of dinosaur game. Stay silent while being exploited haha
Look, death threats, not good, booooo, BUT, the outcry was 10000% deserved. And I hope it continues,
yeah Alderon reallly messed up with this one but the community messed up even more. sending death threats over 7$ is unbelivabley stupid, childish and makes Alderons decisions seem more logical(im not saying they did nothing wrong there just as much in this) and Tyrannotitan isnt even that busted tbh so you dont HAVE to buy just like th skins. you can if want and have funds for it but not forced and thats something ppl really overlook when crying over it.
you can say death threats all you want, doesnt take away they being greedy ass devs
Why do you think many of he skin bundles are back? They just be struggling financially
Food and water depletion , is wild ☠️
3:48 i doubt alderon in their big fancy buisness suits is threatened by a green cartoonish dinosaur 😔
and just FYI so everyone knows IF YOU HAVE A PLAYSTATION YOU NEED PLAYSTATION PLUS IN ORDER TO PLAY POT NOW
Always have been like that.
@@M-rex123 only since the ps4
As a well-known path of titans enjoyer this shit made me so disappointed love this game and to see it fumble the bag so incredibly hard just breaks my heart no shade to the Alderaan team but whoever they let cook with this needs to be taken away from the kitchen permanently I hope if they never do anything like this ever again I love this game I don't want to ever go down the path of the, day of dragons :C
It's the only thing the isle would never do
I've been eyeing the game for a little bit, but this definitely is putting me off on buying it. The one thing I'm very curious about is the whole "death threats" thing since I've been browsing the comments and _nobody_ that actually talks about seeing chat saw a single threat, and nobody has mentioned any actual proof. I'm wondering if it's a "oh, poor us!" deflection.
@@thatrandom_canadian it's a horrible thing to do, but everyone ever has gotten death threats. At some point it simply doesn't hold any weight
I hope this doesn’t happen again… Cosmetics should be the only mtx in the game imo.
You see that's why I'm not understanding if people are buying skins why are they complaining about a Dino (I personally believe buying a dinosaur is much more valuable but then again I never wasted any of my coins on skin as well)
You know, the isles staff now don’t seem so bad after all. (Current obviously)
I think them reverting it and LISTENING to the community matters a lot more than what they did. They most likely won't do it again because they listen to the community. You are making it seem like Alderon has gone corprate evil and listens to no one, stop villanizing the dev team for something they thought might have been a good idea.
Microraptor will be a $40 dlc 🥲
