I have the chills. Seeing this band live is mandatory.
I saw them live at the Embarcadero in S.F. front row next to their tent. Different band members tho. This particular set has no harmony at all!!
one of the best bands of all times good music excellent
this song brings back memories of the past. i'm 53 but this song STILL rings a bell to my ears. GREAT!
Incredible song by one of the greatest groups ever, with a long and colorful history.
Super great music of all times! One of the BEST! The lyrics even had stories to tell for the young guys to pursue the good life. Good leaders, best bands are in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
I still get tears 40 years after hearing this for the FIRST time at Frenchie's!!!
my father and uncles favorite. now i also love this band.... so relaxing to listen too. (manila)
One of my favorite songs EVER!
I tuned in to hear this great classic by "Tower of Power"..... Great song! December 2nd, 2014
Thanks for this, bringin tears to my eyes and remembering singing this song with my best friends older bro's band, I was in high school and had my health, great times.
I love love this song. Great memories ..living in the bay area ..what a wonderful life .
I sang this song for my girlfriend right before I asked her to marry me.
I love her so much, and I can't thank Tower of Power enough for being there for me in the moments of trouble. They showed me the funk, and the groove, the subtlety of music, and they showed me love, just like my girl Jove. Keep doing what you guys do TOP, there is no one greater you.
those horns still sound awesome. my fav by the group. would like to see lenny reunite with the guys for a concert.
My boys! Can't wait to see them again!
When I was young and they were young, we were.
Not anymore...
All bout the Brass…Lov'n it!
someone, show me a modern group that has this much passion and respect.
I dedicated this song to my husband back in the day, cause he is 6 1/2 years younger than I, but am glad he didn't listen to me, cause he is the best man on this earth. Been married 25 years and counting. Love Tower of Power especially this song.
Feel so good to hear a man's soul (love) cry for a woman like this, via song and perfectly delivered with an incredible band, or should I say Orchestra! Thank you!
TOP is a dynasty they have added and changed members but they still have the same great sound.
BTW...thanks for the excellent post...whoever you are...thank you.
There was once a guy in my life that I accused of being too young and sent him on his way! Over time I discovered he should have never let him go. He was wonderful to me and really loved me...Time has given a chance to see that he turned out just fine!
he don't just sing it.... he's feelin' it. look like he's livin' this song. great performance. awesome song. love that scat too. wow.
Now that's what I'm talking about!! Totally smooth. They are tight at every position in the band. This tune definitely makes you wanna be holding someone.
This singer is the hardest working man in show-business. Hands down.
Oh yeah!!!!! I'm feeling really feeling this. Love you Tower of Power!!!!!
The man can sing, OH HELL YEAH ! What a great band, always amazing.
This band never, ever ceases to amaze me!!! 40 years and still makin' it happen. With a little more practice, these guys just might kick ass, someday (LOL!). Great post krzycho13...thanx for sharing!

Excellent and extremely fine
TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
I WISH I WAS THERE THAT NIGHT.
When he goes up two octaves to sing 'lady, please' near the end and cuts it off, as if he's been shot through the heart, it went all through me!
One of the most overlooked band of all time,,they ddnt kiss ass to be popular,,sell out,,keep up with manufactured music,, their style is theirs,, not band compares,, may they always want to still funk it up for us !!!!
And that my friend is how its done.... :) Awesome

Still on in the groove - I never - I mean never - get tired of this song - original studio version - live with alternate substitutes singing lead - as long as it's Tower of Power - it's my sho nuf jam.

power of the horns hit ya right in chest
Those HORNS are off the hook ... good old music. ;-)
I used to drive this black guy friend of mine home from work all the time in the 70's. The first thing I'd do is put on this song for him for the drive. I'll bet we played it over and over again until I pulled into his driveway! Even then, he didn't want to get out of the car...
Solid!!!
my favorite
Phenomenal
Voz belíssima
3:02 Emilio's face looks like he's sincerely telling a kid "Don't waste your time".
This is so nice to listen to i fall in love with the song when i listen to it :-)
Wow!!!! F'n Wow!!!! Dayuummm!
YES ! YES !
To have been at this concert . . . They'll just have to travel a little closer !!!
My dad is phil w that was his dedication
the best
Love TOP sound. I saw Mic Gilette once live and he was unbelievably talented even on his own with local talent. Would love to see the band.
There is a band here in San Jose called Tortilla Soup - started by a Sam Jose police officer who plays trumpet and Mic was his teacher. Early on Mic was playing with them as was Skip Mesquite, and his son was one of the singers. There bass and keyboard players and another singer had [played with Malo. They played some bars and Downtown Sunnyvale music series. Not your typical cover band - and personally any band that play You're Still a Young Man and Suavecito is OK by me - add in original players - yes they were awesome. Was shocked one time I saw them at a restaurant/bar on the Milpitas/San Jose border and there was hardly anyone there.
TALK about GREAT SINGERS!!!!
wow just like the record

Good Ass Music. Simple and pure....
@belmontmike : Michael Bogart in Trumpet, him & his wife Jeannie, is a good friend of mine. We were in Japan together in the late 90's when he was in the US NAVY BAND, THEN HE GOT OUT, join the Lynard Skynnard band & eventually with the TOP. He left the group & went back to Naval Academy in Annapolis to join back the US naval band. Seen them here in Las Vegas w/ TOP during thier gigs here in Orleans Casino. Good horn player. Way to go Mike.
THIS IS A BAD ASS SONG TO LISTEN TO WHEN YOUR OUT CRUSIN IN 64 IMPALA. ...LOL...
2021 who here listening.
2023
What you don't know what you're talking about! Amazing. Yes the original is awesome but Larry Brags kills it. My parents went to school with TOP
Seen TOP live a couple dozen times through the years and this song always moves me. Larry Braggs was the BEST lead singer they ever had besides Lenny WIlliams. Just saw the temptations last year and THERE HE WAS!!!!! Wanna check out Tower's new singer marcus scott this summer. Also if you didn;t know Dave Garibaldi got in a serious accident along with their guitarist marc Van Waningnegen (sp?) in Oaklnd a few months ago. Best Wishes for them DG is supposed to come back to the band by the end of this year. THE BEST BAND IN CONCERT EVER!
listen well kids. This is the real thing. When they're gone, baby, it is over!
Oh Yes !!!!!!!!!!!!1
power is right!
Yeah, Lenny Williams..........love his voice
Not Lenny. That's Larry Braggs. He left to join the Temptations but has since moved on.
