  • You can't thrive when you're always 'on'... so take an intentional hiatus from the world based on your own boundaries so you can power up, do some groundwork, and reemerge bright and lighter on the other side.

    Been taking time away from others to lose weight and actually making progress and now spending time watching positive content like this and developing my spiritual beliefs and study and make myself better for myself and give myself time to heal and recharge. Thank you for this video. Opened my eyes to lot of stuff in my life I need get away from for a season.

    I've been in a hiatus/sabbatical for 6 months already and I gave myself another 6...I'm definitely a different person much more calm, creative, loving. Even though sometimes I feel fomo I take time (like watching this video) to reconnect with my purpose.
    Great and very much needed video!

    Just took a break from Instagram and it was wild to realize just how much it was effecting, not just what I did but, how I perceived and structured my life. Now there's a healthier balance. Taking a break or hiatus is definitely a need in this age of always being available to others.

    As a fellow creator (and mother) I definitely understand the tension between wanting to enjoy life and also wanting to capture every moment. A question that helps me: "Is this for others or is this a moment that's just for me?" It helps me realise and appreciate the times that are to be cherished.

    Omg!! I just decided today that I need a total break from everything- not going on IG/tik tok or posting anything, taking a few weeks off from work, less texting but I will call and check on my fam/close friends etc. I just need withdraw completely. I feel like I haven't gotten closer to my top goal I made for this year and I realized there are limiting beliefs and feelings I need to work through but the news, social media, negative people influence me so much. This vid is so synchronistic! Thanks for this coffee talk, much needed 💕

    Prompts:
    1. 2:13 When was the last time you truly disconnected from the world to recharge and how did it feel?
    2. 6:13 How do you feel after long periods of socializing, indulging, or being constantly connected?
    3. 8:40 what activities or commitments would be the hardest for you to take a break from?
    4. 11:15 If you were to retreat from the world, what would be your reason why and what would you focus on? How long do u want and how long do u need to be in a hiatus? What wisdom, growth or persobal progress might you gain from taking this step back to retreat and recharge?

    I just came back from an epic trip in Europe and got engaged. That trip really sparked something in me when I returned home how I didn’t want to waste so much time on social media like how I did prior to the trip but really build my business so that I can have more of those life experiences. Doing social media hiatus is really what I need to focus on my goals. Thanks Kalynn loved this talk

    I'm in my hiatus right now. I am just very very scared that when I'll be back I'll be only depressed to be back to my job and life, so all the positive energy that I am currently cultivating, all the rest, all the good intentions will be totally deleted by my inability of managing those things which I took a break from. Does someone have any suggestion?

      I know this feeling well. Best way I deal is a lot of what Can’t Hurt Me (by David Goggins) talks about in his book. I’m reading it now and it’s so helpful and not fluffy. I’ve been a bit too soft on myself and although I have been kind to myself it actually hasn’t really moved me forward.

      Accept that knowledge your own subconscious is bringing you. If you need a drastic life change, go get it. I lost track of the amount of jobs I quit when I returned from a holiday. If it's wrong, it's wrong. If your brain is screaming at you to get out of there, listen and act. I've never regretted it. I'm not saying bum around. Be proactive at changing your life for something more suitable. Draw up a budget, do two - one for ideal life eg the home you want, an annual holiday, the better car and food, then one for the minimum you need to survive. Cut those excesses from your life and find a job that covers the minimum. Don't look at what you can't do look at what you can do and don't attempt to mind read, the hirer can decide if you're right for the job or not, you don't have to decide you're not up to it before you've even applied, take a chance and see where it leads. You can be poor and happy, it's sure better than being rich and miserable. Then you rebuild, because having got rid of the physical and emotional drains, you now have the energy to do so. The life "they" try to sell us isn't necessarily what you need. Some people fit the mould, others aren't suited. Carve your own path. Here's the thing about reinvention - there are no limits on it. If something isn't working, don't despair, just do something to change it. Good luck 🍀

    LOVE this concept!
    Also I think most moms should hire a cleaner at least 1x/month - we have so many more things and so much less community that I think that alone would add so much quality time for moms to be present with themselves & family

    Kayln, this came at the exact time that I reached my burnout and decided to take a sabbatical and hiatus of my own. I felt a bit lost in it. Like I was waiting for a reset. Now I know I can be the reset. I can start and just step back even further. Time to focus on Faith, family, health and rest. My kids, husband and I deserve it. I deserve it. Blessings girl!❤

    I want to take a step back so bad, but living in small town USA, I can't. Our town only communicates with us via Facebook. If I wasn't scrolling Facebook constantly I wouldn't know our town is under a DO NOT USE water situation because a toxic chemical seeped into our main water system. Also my son starts school next week and we have to be connected to an app in case the teacher needs to contact us during the school day. I just want to turn off my phone, but everything important is on it. It's so frustrating.

    • @KalynsCoffeeTalk
      @KalynsCoffeeTalk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is very understandable and frustrating I imagine. Could you create perimeters around it? For instance, you check your phone/facebook/answer the app related to the teacher etc. for 30 mins once a day? Or something along those lines so you at least check each day but don't have it on or accessible all the time?

      What I do in this case is I leave unnecessary groups or if you don't want to leave, mute notifications from pages, groups, certain people.

    • @LittleKikuyu
      @LittleKikuyu 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, mute all notifications that aren’t absolutely vital on you phone and computer. That’s a great first step. Also there are apps that actually block out all feeds and such , certain elements os social media. You can use them to turn off commentaries, suggestions etc.
      Is there a way to contact your town and encourage change regarding very important public safety announcements? I honestly think they don’t belong (solely) on Facebook. What about really elderly citizens? Also would your neighbors or friends maybe inform you in serious cases once your on a hiatus? All the best for you!

    • @Rayowag
      @Rayowag ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You might want to start with digging yourself little self care moments into your routine. Even if that just means making your favorite drink everyday when you get home from work or building resilience through doing a 5min TH-cam workout that can be done in bed (those videos are a godsent). Building capacity. That might not solve the burnout, but it's babysteps that help.

      Glad someone said this. I feel this “hiatus” is really impossible for most people with a normal job. I’d love to know how people with this lifestyle are managing this! It’s something I’d like to try to do myself, but can’t fully for the same reason.

    • @dreamer6943
      @dreamer6943 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All of you here, start small. Use the time outside work for your hiatus. Instead of returning home, cracking open a beer and rotting your mind in front of the TV, come home and meditate for half hour. Take some time at the weekend to choose your outfits for all your working days, including underwear, lay them out in a chair or shelf in your bedroom or bathroom. Choose the bare minimum makeup and the simplest hairstyle. Use the time gained in the morning to take a short walk somewhere peaceful. Decide to not see friends or socialise for a week, have a social media break, only check your texts once daily and don't get into a conversation, instead schedule a meetup for after the hiatus is over. Take a novel to work, lunch away from your workstation and colleagues if they're annoying or would disturb you and spend your break reading, it's scientifically proven to relax the mind. Little things like that will open up the space and energy to think of the next phase - getting yourself into a position where you can afford a week off work so you can have a full on hiatus to really focus on changing your life. Maybe you need to change to a job with greater annual leave entitlement? Maybe you need to downsize your home so you needn't earn so much? Maybe you need to take an additional seasonal job at Christmas time so you can use those wages for time off from your main job next year? However you do it, there will be a way, you've just got to find it. It's not always easy. Sometimes all the choices are shit ones and the way to move forward in life is to pick the least shitty option. Good luck 🍀

      In my case during that phase, I remember reaching out to a cousin of mine and we went for coffee and catch up on life. We weren't close and even after that meet up, we didn't talk much, but it broke the ice for me. Next was my sister and her friends. I would tag along to events with her and make myself open to getting to know people. Fast forward a year later and i have made 1 good friend. We catch up every saturday over phone or in person.

      @@takingiteasydaisy that sounds like a wonderful idea. I think, for me I have some issue with living in a small coastal community where everyone knows just about everyone, but I’ve not lived here long and only met people through my husband or parents, and am trying to get my car license still so cut myself off bc I felt like I didn’t want to be that person having everyone come to me, so to speak- I’ve thrown myself into study to keep ‘occupied’ doing something I enjoy, but it would be nice to get out every now and then and be social. Thank you for your reply x
