Wonderful, I've never heard of this work before. France of course had already a long tradition of comedy in the theatre with Moliere for instance, so a fertile ground for opera buffa I can imagine and I wonder if there have been more French composers in this vein in this period ( besides JJ Rousseau with Le devin du village)? Interestingly enough, both Serva Padrona and this touch upon matters which are already a bit critical of feudal society, later more pronounced in the (theatre) works of de Beaumarchais ( Le marriage de Figaro, more than 20 years later than the opera uploaded here). Anyway, thanks for sharing.
The lyrics are cringe worthy although quite typical for a work of the period: demeaning towards women and joking about denying them consent. Simple, entertaining music that I wish I did not understand 😅
