Caballe has the most exquisite voice, it's hard to believe. Carreras' tender voice and handsome stage presence make a good match, and together they create a warm, soaring beauty.
This is so crushing; moving, especially the last act, devastating in its white hot passion. Caballe and Carreras truly deliver great pathos as well as gorgeous singing.
Holy sht! How did I ever hold that (monster) camera so still. I had to manually turn the lens to zoom in and out. Was not easy especially when you expected to be 'ushered out' any minute. But, look at the gems I was able to capture. It was worth it.
This is at the Met? I attended one of those performances! I closed my eyes at one point and said to myself, you will never hear a more beautiful sound than Caballe's pianissimo. I went backstage and got Carreras and Quilico's autograph. And then the great Caballe gave me an autographed picture of herself....holding the head of John the Baptist! I never figured out what that meant!!
You mean papa Louis Quilico? He was Scarpia in Pittsburgh 1969 to Crespin's Tosca. I was just a squirt backstage in awe of all these big people with huge voices singing this glorious music! And I wanted to be one too.
