- More than 30 freight workings featuring Class 31s, 37s, 47s, and 56s captured during my various trips to Peterborough during 1989. There's Speedlink workings, oil trains, Flyash, and more to enjoy, along with locos transitioning from BR Blue, through Railfreight Red Stripe, and into the new Railfreight Sector liveries.

absolute magic. It's now 23.14 on this Tuesday 23rd June and I sit with a double scotch a bag of crisps and a half hour of nostalgia provided by Mr deltic15..It's not just seeing the trains of 31 years ago, it's everything else that was goung on. Driver on the track to do a crew change...tut tut..plus others with him..the platforms waiting to be extended, train spotters with no end of platforn fences, no yellow line to stand behind and o my golly just look at all those spare loco's sitting everywhere..and then something that still continues and always will.. the young lad trying to get a tone from a passing train, either that or he was practicing pulling the lavortory change at home... what a lovely half hour i've had. cheers Darren
Couldn't agree more Keith, the practices of the day makes for a really interesting video. It's also interesting to see just how grubby the loco's were compared to today.
So good Darren to see these old proper freight trains again, and mostly British made.

Thank you very much for posting this video. The Flyash train at 10.23 was going to Barford Power Station near St.Neots as at that time Flyash was being used there to make bricks for house building. This was the last use of the sidings there as the Power Station had been rebuilt to gas firing instead of coal a few years before.
Thank you for watching. The Flyash was always a good train to get in this era, with 47s, 56s, and 58s on it a various times during my visits over the years.
Those were good days, so much variety of traction. Not like today. Someone needs to revive the 56's and 58's, my favourite.
