This video is absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing your journey through China and the culture of rural China. Happy New Year from Fargo, North Dakota, USA
That has been an exceptional vlog , so beautiful to see the villages through your eyes and the magnificent scenery. They have such a peaceful way of life I hope it is never disturbed. Thank you both. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏🏻
You are very lucky to have met the real grassroots workers in China. Their mission is to help economically backward areas get rid of poverty and make the lives of ordinary people better. Some of them have a good educational background, but choose to stay away from the city and come to the countryside to do the most difficult but greatest work. And the best wishes for 2025!
They don't have such mission, they just lived there where their parents lived, and they just do work their parents do to survive.. So weird you talk like this.

The Dong Chorus that you experienced are very unique in the region and also very beautiful. In most of the villages in Dong region they sing it at the drum tower every day. A team of them from the region even performed it many years ago in Paris right after China started opening. A cultural heritage.
Today’s technology makes traveling so much easier. Imagine doing this without your phone, with the maps, translation apps……… What an amazing adventure you are on 🧡
Hi. I rarely do the wow thing to adults as I get my wows from nature, but here you managed it, truly fantastic what you've recorded and experienced. You managed to capture what is rarely seen by Europeans and shown that we aren't so different from each other, just some have lost that simplistic but incredible feeling of together that modernity loses. The same....vikings hadlkng houses as did anglo saxons where you'd have a huge fire, where you'd have meals, sing and spend time together. And yes to fix issues together. Houses not so long ago in Scandinavia were also built of wood on stone support just like the Dong. The point of course is we as humans are not so different ,the singing showed this, I experienced the same but by men as only they could sing these songs due to them being about love for a woman. Your title is perfect as you ARE so lucky as are we to share it, you holiday like myself but do it on a larger map scale and lighter :) I cannot believe so few follow your exploits of which on a personal note I wish your viewer ship can grow so you can experience more and others can see that we are not so different like media depicts. So thank you and Good travels of joy. Oh and never thanked someone for content shown. 谢谢
This was the most enjoyable episode! What an amazing experience you had in that village. It was so beautiful. If I was younger that's exactly how I'd love to travel. Your translate app made all the difference to be able to communicate. Thank you for sharing. I absolutely loved it. Indigo dying!!! That's one of the world's most expensive and beautiful fabrics. How amazing. Amazing.
For your hoarse voice or sore throat due to the cold dry air, if you told the village ladies, I’m sure they would have some local herbal remedies for it, using some plants and herbs or even “weeds” that could be found easily. That’s what happened when I was in a village in Fuzhou! :)
In Christmas time watch this beautiful vedio, I will give you guys thumb up. The vlog is raw and adventurious, but in a good way, making my mind so peaceful. Looking forward to seeing next one.👍Wish you "Happy New Year" in advance.
China invests heavily in "rural revitalization." The villages you visit had no roads or electricity for a long time. If you enter the city, it takes 2-3 days. For foreign tourists, China's first guarantee is human safety.
Excellent video. I appreciate the opportunity to experience the culture and the peoples of China. Places I will never be able travel myself. Thank you.
16:35 The old lady was actually saying “I can’t/don’t know how to (use that)” but the translator app took it (out of context) as “I won’t” instead. LOL
22:03 The Dong ethnic group's grand song brought tears to my eyes. This human cultural heritage is so stunning. But unfortunately, as a Chinese I have never heard it live.
Every week I wait for your new video to appear just to know that you are safe and sound. I liked you so much and we have so much in common that I started to worry about you. I worry that everything will be ok and as soon as I see that it really is ok, I feel great relief. Hugs from Poland ❤
I hope you have watched the entire vlog. The ancient Chinese ethos: "四海借兄" ie. "Brother from all over the world" towards strangers is still highly valued. Please sit back and appreciate their unique adventure. PEACE.
Aww thank you! I’m happy to see you here in the comments as I also look for and keep up with our regular online friends. And yes, we’re doing great ♥️ Thank you again for being here!
In order to cope with the cold weather in southern China, I think you can buy an electric hot water bag (very cheap and practical, also not more than 10 dollars, usually in the roadside grocery stores can be seen, you can ask, when you go out can be warm, you can also put on the bed when you sleep), and warm clothing is very necessary (roadside clothing stores can also be easily purchased, usually not more than 10 U.S. dollars a piece, wear). You can easily buy them at roadside clothing stores for less than $10 a piece, and they will keep you very warm.) I highly recommend thermals, and if you are going to buy them, make sure you choose the ones with a fleece lining, not the regular cotton ones (they are very thin and don't keep you warm)
Even as a Chinese, I rarely have the opportunity to go to such a remote village to experience their life.. 21:08 The atmosphere here is really great. Even though many people in southwest China don't speak Mandarin very well and it's hard to translate (they may prefer to communicate in local dialects in their daily lives), But it doesn't affect the warm atmosphere.
Dat is manier van reizen wat jullie lief is en ik snap heel goed waarom . Wat een geweldige ervaringen , om zo in een gemeenschap opgenomen te worden . Hoop dat jullie nog veel meer van dit soort ervaringen mogen meemaken .
If you are a vegetarian, try eating some tofu, which is good for protein intake. The variety of tofu in China is very rich, and every town and village is different.
What an amazing video, you guys went for it and you were rewarded big time. I absolutely loved the village where you stayed overnight and the people. As for the singing, you don't have to understand the language to enjoy it, it must've been mesmerising to be there and enjoy it. I was smiling all the way through this one, I think that the landscape of the area you are traveling through is something else, it looks Chinese lol. I mean it's what I thought it would look like, even more beautiful though. Looking forward to the next video. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas 🎄 and that you have a Happy New Year's Eve. ❤️
It was so mesmerising! We’re glad we got a 20min recording to re-listen to once in a while 😊 Thank you for your support always. Hope the big life transition is going smoothly ♥️
Very peaceful and beautiful little village. Since you were in province Guizhou, highly recommend you go to the neighbour province Yunnan, where in the south part of it, you would not feel that cold, yet you'll get to expirance much more natural beauties and divorsity of cultral because in that one province there are 26 minorities living. Believe me you'll definately fall in love with Yunnan.
Of course the tomatoes growing by the roadside can be picked and eaten a bit. If the owner is around, they will hospitably invite you to have a taste. Don't be too nervous.
There are very many ethnic minorities in southwest China, as well as Tibet, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, each of which has completely different and diverse customs, It's not easy to fully explore them
16:33 when you took out the phone, sounds like the old the lady said ‘are you going to take a photo of me’ and when you show her the phone, she said ‘I don’t know how to do it’
I think tofu is the best source of protein for vegetarians. Protein supplements can make you look healthier. In China, you can find tofu in all kinds of ways.
Sometimes when you say hello (nihao) to someone and don't get a response, it's because there's something wrong with your pronunciation and they don't understand. There are four tones in Chinese, but your nihao doesn't have any tones.
I'm curious. While you were sitting at the pit, does the translation app? If you trans app is tuned to english-mandarin translation, and if those women were speaking a Dong language or very heavily accented Mandarin, the app might not be translating right I guess?
I know some French friends who live in China who do not like modern cities and choose to live in the old yurts of traditional herdsmen on the grasslands, and go out with their families. The Chinese don't understand.
I know you are vegetarians, and I have good news for you. China produces about 60% of the world's vegetables and more than 40% of its fruits.😀 But at the same time, China also produces more than 60 percent of the world's pork and about 90 percent of the world's production from artificial aquaculture fisheries.🤣
It's interesting how we don't see anyone interested in seeing the poorest regions of other countries. What would the poorest region of other countries be like? We must remember that China is a developing country, with a GDP 6 times smaller than the USA.
For us the “wealth” of a place does not define the beauty or interest it holds. We like traveling because we get exposed to different ways of living, and this is the case whether we’re in Spain or China (in fact I would totally recommend going to my family’s village in Spain for the same reasons, but some may consider it a “poor” area). For us this village was especial because we were treated with so much kindness and we were welcomed in a way that usually doesn’t happen in a city. That doesn’t have to be what interests others, but that’s the beauty of different people sharing their experiences: you can always find a channel that shares your interests. 🙂
The old lady who tried to talk to you, l am sure that she is saying "l can't speak foreign language". She said "wuer bu hui". "Hui" in Chinese means either l will not or l am not able to.
