      +EeeZee Films Haha thanks glad you enjoy them. If you are in a position to do it you should definitely go for it! It's definitely scary and we are still scared and nervous about the path we are pursuing pretty much everyday but in the end we are both super happy and would rather be doing this than working at a 9-5 we aren't passionate about.

      +Spinkicker That's one of the worst feelings. I also always stress out that they are going to make me leave my camera equipment at the security check or make me check it in. And I don't trust the handlers at the airport with our equipment they don't care about your belongings.

    Orale!! Japan, nice!! Whenever it comes to air travel I always try to look on the bright side of it. We've only had the ability the fly in planes for a little over a 100 years compared to the thousands that we have been around. but yeah leg room is what always gets me. Then again I haven't been on a plane in about 10 years. 😱
    either way cool to see these types of vlogs. hope to see more.

    I would like to start learning Chinese so that one day I can visit Taiwan and China and perhaps move to either country to teach English, how would you guys suggest I go about learning the language as thoroughly as possible and which dialect would be best? I'm glad you guys had a good trip, I'm sure the videos you're putting together will be awesome!

    • @KumaKumaTime
      @KumaKumaTime  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +The Essence Awesome, coming to Taiwan and teaching English was one of the best experiences we ever had. I feel Chinese is a pretty tough language especially learning on your own. Don't get me wrong it's definitely possible however when I started learning chinese I took classes in college and had tutors. Also grew up listening to it growing up so had a bit of a head start over most people. Finding a good book would definitely help but learning and understanding the basic grammar and stuff only from a book can sometimes be a bit difficult with out someone to help. You could always try Rosetta Stone I've heard the program is pretty good but I've never used it personally so I can't say for sure. If you can somehow find a class or possibly a tutor, someone who can help you understand the basics, help with your pronunciation, tones, grammar, and writing is extremely helpful to getting you started on the right track with no bad habits then learning on your own using different books after you understand the basics of the language shouldn't be a problem. I would recommend learning Mandarin it's more universal and most schools and universities teach Mainland Chinese Mandarin which is simplified characters and then the Beijing accent is what most people consider the "standard" accent for Mandarin Chinese. Hope that helps a bit sorry for the novel. :)

    • @phrozenover781
      @phrozenover781 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kuma Time Wow thanks for the great response! I never knew you taught in Taiwan, that's awesome. I was also planning on taking classes once I start college this fall. Thank you for all of the great advice, you're really awesome and I love that you spend your time answering comments :) thanks so much :D It's refreshing to see such down to earth and great people. You two really are an inspiration

    • @KumaKumaTime
      @KumaKumaTime  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +The Essence Anytime! It's because of you guys that we are able to do what we are doing. We also enjoy getting comments and interacting with you guys, it's fun! Teaching in Taiwan is actually the reason we ended up doing TH-cam. We originally came here to teach and was filming stuff for fun on our days off. Then the videos we were uploading started doing pretty well online and we were starting to get different opportunities to to do various freelance film jobs and eventually was able to quit teaching to try and pursue film full time.

    • @phrozenover781
      @phrozenover781 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kuma Time Wow that's really great, hopefully my teaching will take me somewhere like it did for you guys! I have another question about Chinese, how long have you studied it and how fluent would you consider yourselves? There is of course always room for improvement in anything but I'm curious how comfortable you are with the language :)

    • @KumaKumaTime
      @KumaKumaTime  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brayden Couch We studied it in College, we actually majored in it. Our mom is Taiwanese so we grew up listening to it. When we were little she would speak to us in Chinese but we didn't really like Chinese growing up so we'd always use English to respond. So we can understand it pretty well but we don't can't speak as well. We also don't read and write as good as we should. I would say we are pretty fluent in term of speaking and listening. We can get around and have a daily conversation fine but once you get to certain topics and we don't understand a thing. Then our reading and writing not so fluent anymore. If you don't practice and keep with it you lose it fast. However given our circumstances (having a Chinese mom, being Chinese majors, and me having a wife from Taiwan) we should be way more fluent then we are.

    ...Was it Lunar New Year when you were at the airport? Mayybe that was why it was so busy? And Grace! Why couldn't they find your tickets?!?! XD

    • @KumaKumaTime
      @KumaKumaTime  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Paula Choi I think so. It was crazy busy we'd never seen it like that! The reason they couldn't find our tickets was because we had booked with ANA but the first flight was going through EVA airlines so they were looking under the wrong airline.

      +Cookie Eater Gaming It's really common here in Taiwan and in Asia I think. They usually wear them for a number of reasons, sometimes it's because of pollution but I think it's usually to avoid getting sick or as a courtesy to prevent getting other people sick.
