Born and raised in LA, I went to NY with my wife in October and was able to go to Yankee Stadium. We went to a playoff game and bought a stadium tour package to gain early access. During batting practice I was able to get a HR ball, and as a 34yr old, I saw a kid (11-14yrs old). He looked at me, and I smiled and tossed him the ball. No more than 5mins later, little brat sold the ball to another older guy. And ran back to his parents to show the money he just made! That is the LAST time I toss a ball to a kid.
I never understood the argument that Brady Anderson juiced for one year, was wildly successful with it and then never juiced again. Why wouldn’t he have kept cheating? He juiced in 96, but not in 97 when he was entering free agency at the end of the season? Make it make sense. Other players have had crazy single seasons. Norm Cash hit .361 in his best season and never hit over .286 in any other season and was a .271 lifetime hitter. But he played before steroids so no one questions it.
It's tacky to immediately sell the jersey. Maybe they could sell it sometime in the future, but not right away. The only justification for selling it now is if the family thinks that the player did the public swap only for publicity. I could see turning around and selling it in that case
