congrats on finishing the stargate but saying IV-UHV tiers are the best section of the game is just crazy to me. its all just braindead multiblock spam. i wouldnt mind if the multiblocks were actually interesting and they would amount to more than just wallsharing them. doing magic becomes mandatory which is by far the most tedious part of gtnh. once you understand how ae2 works infra is fucking trivial and there is no challenge there as you can have infinite channels with some subnetting. the systems and processes later on in the game are completly devoid of reality and just feel cheap and unimaginative. ive played this modpack more than i care to admit, i liked it for most part but its just a power creep simulator that is more grind than actual challenge
I was torn between preferring early game (stone-EV) and midgame (IV-UHV), but I ended up picking midgame because I like the convenience of ae2 + new stuff you accumulate each tier to work on (like power generation/circuit lines), compared to how much manual setup/resource scrounging there is earlygame. I do enjoy the "grind" that comes with it as well though, it's just that it becomes easy to breeze through after a few runs. One point I agree with is how little real logistics the pack has when much of what you do is entirely ae2 based, but imo that issue is due to the pack itself/Minecraft not really being suited towards that kind of gameplay style. Hello, why did you use another jar of ae2stuff? What did it add to the game exactly? Is this the Advanced Wireless Setup Kit that you mention in the end of the video? What does it do? Thanks a lot!
It was a custom jar for the adv wireless setup kit since it wasn't included in the nightly version that I'd used (which was the last stable one at the time). Instead of having to bind wireless connector pairs one by one, it allows you to queue a bunch of connectors then switch to bind mode where you can connect them all in order. This was extremely useful when wiring AALs bc of how many connectors I had to fly back and forth to link.
Im just so enamoured by this modpack, despite the fact that i am constantly feeling as if i am doing nothing properly. Just barely gotten to hv and then quit for 6+ months... now im thinking of going back...
In real time, it took a few days over a year and about 1.5-2k hours actual playtime. It's harder to say in game days but judging from my playtime, it was ~36 years
seeing the platline and assembly line come after rockets is so weird for me, having only experienced this pack through watching someone play a variation of Garden of Grind (the skyblock no other dimensions (except a couple) version). Are you normally gated behind resources unavailable on earth (without that one blood magic meteor spell and maybe bees)?
It depends on what you need. Aluminum and titanium are much easier to get if you visit the moon compared to having to produce them through crops/bees/meteors, while some planets have benefits that you can't take advantage of (like mining planet rock for mysterious crystal dust or the energy multiplier for Dysons).
I know you can find a list of people who contributed to a stargate world by searching who has a role, but is there a reverse list of stargate worlds and how many players contributed to it?
Take your time and don't expect anything in your base to be permanent for a while. There are many things you'll have to get used to like the GT energy system, hunger/mobs being awful earlygame, and microcrafting, but once you get past HV you'll probably get the hang of it. Consistently keeping on top of basic materials and power is important, or else you'll be spending hours waiting on things that you wouldn't otherwise (like EBF ingots, plastics, crafting parts, etc). Additionally, discord.gg/gtnh is a good resource if you'd like more help on what to do next, as there's tons of helpful ppl/useful information there.
Me and my friend are doing a playthrough right now and we just broke into uv. I have to know if this amount of parallel is necessary because that seems absolutely awful to set up. Was it done just to save time or out of necessity?
It really depends on how long you want crafts to take as well as how much time you're willing to spend placing multis (which is pretty easy with ring of Loki). Like you could get by with 32-64 AALs per circuit or way fewer CALs, but I went overkill just to get gate in a reasonable amount of time
The easiest method is using the Ring of Loki from Botania with which you can place markers that copy the blocks placed near a set position. For large multiblocks, you can place the controllers/hatches by hand with Loki then use a multiblock projector to build the rest automatically. Showcase: th-cam.com/video/qu1pqfeu__k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vagjA6tGhyr2BLLa
Have no idea how do you play more than 1k hour. On like 200-300 hours game starts breaking itself. Items disappear when i put them from inventory to inventory, orefinder stops detecting veins etc.
wow this is insane... I would like to know something. I have only a little knowledge about some industry mods. I have time and patience, but I always get stuck in games about my knowledge. Does the quest book provide me with enough informations, or is there any source where I could learn it and know what to do/how to do some things? For example Im playing galactic science modpack rn and everything was fine until there was a quest to get a lot of naquadah which required insane amout of energy to make and it was pain to find out online what should I do.
I feel the quest book is pretty good until EV. By then, it becomes less specific and just tells you what you should aim to do next. discord.gg/gtnh and the wiki are pretty good sources of info, and there's almost always someone active willing to help you there.
This is incredible, waw, everything about this was great, GG. A few questions if you do not mind when you have time :D 1) Can you elaborate a bit on the workflow you used during the pack mainly? Did you you design systems to be balanced using spreadsheets, by drawing diagrams, by freestyling and eyeballing it as you go ingame or something completely different? Also, did you keep a To Do list or tree of sorts or just used the quest gui to guide you each time you logged on? I am super intrested to hear about that part of the playthrough as well if possible :D 2) I noticed you did not invest time in making builds more complex aesthetically than they need to be, a flat 2d center to outwards flat design mostly, was this done on purpose to cut on time (as I imagine that would have drastically increased the time to complete) or are there any other particular motivations of why it was done like this? Maybe a more basic and efficent design is just faster to work with and less distracting I guess? As an extra do you mind (if possible) sharing some links as well? 3) I have never looked into literal hardcore technic modpacks too much personally, would you say this is one of the hardest technical modpacks currently in existance? Are there worse ones? If so how recognized are them compared to GTNH? 4) Why solo and not with friends / others? Is there a particular reason? 5) Do you think GTNH will continue to grow and get updates in the future? Is it worth investing some time into as a fun milestone to reach and community to be in on your opinion? 6) When is the last time you touched grass? XD
1. I never really cared all that much about ratios or balancing machines; if one section of a line was bottlenecking, I'd just add more machines or increase power usage. For the most part, I either used a flowchart (most of them being made by C0bra or someone else on the nh discord) or winged it by seeing what kind of resources the system required, setting up ways to obtain them, and then linking everything together. For progression, the first thing I typically focused on is power, and then secondary stuff like production and upgrades unlocked in that tier. The questbook falls off hard after HV in describing your options imo 2. Yeah lawnbasing is pretty common in tech packs because it makes placing everything very easy and there aren't any builds to work around. I'm also inexperienced at building at large scales. About the links, I'm not sure what you mean but a comment I made has some which I can't pin due to a dumb youtube change. 3. I feel like GTNH isn't that "difficult", rather it's a time sink. Most extremely long chemical lines are just a ton of simple inputs/outputs or can be skipped entirely, like kevlar/bastline. Maybe something like Terrafirmagreg would be harder but I have no idea. This is definitely the longest one though. 4. I started this world right after a multiplayer run I joined died in IV (hosted by someone else), and I didn't do multiplayer since I had no idea how to host a server myself and I wasn't very integrated with the community. I wanted to learn about every aspect of the pack in this run just to experience everything, but somehow I ended up completing it. 5. NH is still constantly getting updated. Just scrolling through the upcoming features channel gives an idea of how active the devs are with adding/changing stuff. Whether or not you want to invest this much time into a game is up to you, as getting stargate is 100% not worth it solo lmao 6. Today
@@dashinking Are you ever going to attempt TerraFirmaGreg, TerraFirmaRescue (heard of thisone as well) anytime soon or in the future as the next big challenge? Or any other insanely hardcore pack?
This is actually so cool o_O I did not know that this much parallelization was needed though.... I've had a lot of fun in the early game automating stuff with Opencomputers. How much did you use it n your run?
GG! This is insane! I would love to have watched this journey live, are you going to do another run? Fully understand if not... you do need to do things outside of GTNH
I dont know, just asking - how will all these chunks be loaded when u are in the opposite end, the other end will it be working?. I am certain u r away like 100 chunks apart. How will those work out?
Sir (or madam?), as a mainly 1.16+ modded player whose favorite tech mod is create and who couldn't get past MV on Nomi, absolutely incredible work, I cannot fathom how or why someone would spend this much time on one modpack.
I think the mod has a reputation for being difficult to approach and tedious, but to me, it's not as bad as most say it is, though I completely get that it's not for everyone. If you start off with an easier pack (like Nomi) and stick with it past early game, it's fun to be able to build up a factory and gain access to cool stuff.
CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700F GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super 32.0 GB RAM Some things that made the game perform much better compared to previous years was the addition of Angelica and switch to Java 19-21. I don't think my PC is the best as it was a prebuilt, but it ran pretty well and only had to be restarted occasionally due to garbage collection.
I already linked one in the description since I didn't make the design. If you need further explanation, I'd suggest joining the nh discord since there are already a few posts about universal automation and you can ask questions about it.

Okay okay, fine I'll play the damn modpack already. Stupid youtubers and their sly tricks. Will report back when I beat the game
good luck
i have no words, how much did it take u? like 2/3 years? and how many days is game?
In real time, it took a few days over a year and about 1.5-2k hours actual playtime. It's harder to say in game days but judging from my playtime, it was ~36 years
@@dashinking its incredible, im strugling with e2e and u made this, i cant imagine how much patience and motivation u have
No wonder the ancients ascended if this is what it takes to make a single pair of stargates.

Man this is fucking nuts. Congratulations
seeing the platline and assembly line come after rockets is so weird for me, having only experienced this pack through watching someone play a variation of Garden of Grind (the skyblock no other dimensions (except a couple) version).
OMG looking at this
So unbelievably impressive
And yes I feel like a noob now

I know you can find a list of people who contributed to a stargate world by searching who has a role, but is there a reverse list of stargate worlds and how many players contributed to it?
Not that I know of, but it would be cool
fantastic work! this really look like it took dedication and resolve to finish. Any tips for someone like me who’s starting GTNH fairly soon?
I'm playing Nomifactory rn and I cant wait to play gtnh! After some time GregTech becomes really interesting!

EDIT: I only played nomifactory so far, wish me luck lmao
I only played nomi before this too, it's a good introduction to gt
@@dashinking Thanks, that's an insane commitment though
Man all those Multiblock Structures.
Did you have access to some sort of 3d Copy Paste Tool at least? Otherwise this looks very tedious.
The easiest method is using the Ring of Loki from Botania with which you can place markers that copy the blocks placed near a set position. For large multiblocks, you can place the controllers/hatches by hand with Loki then use a multiblock projector to build the rest automatically.

cool thanks
Absolute goat
Have no idea how do you play more than 1k hour. On like 200-300 hours game starts breaking itself. Items disappear when i put them from inventory to inventory, orefinder stops detecting veins etc.
what version are you on? I rarely ever hear of issues that severe unless there's something really wrong with the version
@@dashinking it was 2.5.1 java 17-21 when i was playing
I was playing on 2.5.1 for a large part of the playthrough, that's pretty weird
threefold needs to come backkk
wow this is insane...
@@dashinking alright thank you very much

good job!
This is incredible, waw, everything about this was great, GG.
A few questions if you do not mind when you have time :D
1) Can you elaborate a bit on the workflow you used during the pack mainly? Did you you design systems to be balanced using spreadsheets, by drawing diagrams, by freestyling and eyeballing it as you go ingame or something completely different? Also, did you keep a To Do list or tree of sorts or just used the quest gui to guide you each time you logged on? I am super intrested to hear about that part of the playthrough as well if possible :D
2) I noticed you did not invest time in making builds more complex aesthetically than they need to be, a flat 2d center to outwards flat design mostly, was this done on purpose to cut on time (as I imagine that would have drastically increased the time to complete) or are there any other particular motivations of why it was done like this?
The questbook falls off hard after HV in describing your options imo
Whether or not you want to invest this much time into a game is up to you, as getting stargate is 100% not worth it solo lmao
6. Today
@@dashinkingThanks for taking the time to respond! Really appreciate it :D
@@dashinking Are you ever going to attempt TerraFirmaGreg, TerraFirmaRescue (heard of thisone as well) anytime soon or in the future as the next big challenge? Or any other insanely hardcore pack?
other than doing another gtnh run, I don't have any specific plans atm
This is actually so cool o_O I did not know that this much parallelization was needed though.... I've had a lot of fun in the early game automating stuff with Opencomputers. How much did you use it n your run?
pretty much only for the crop bot and NIDAS (a method of displaying your current energy usage and storage on screen)
This inspired me to play GTNH up to the point the fun decisions go away lol.
Is this mod pack good ?
yeah imo
Damn... nice job. Wish I could be this good at modded Minecraft.
No words, Amazing job.
Well, at least i got a lot of watch now since ifound it
GG! This is insane! I would love to have watched this journey live, are you going to do another run? Fully understand if not... you do need to do things outside of GTNH
I am doing another run but it won't be live sorry
I dont know, just asking - how will all these chunks be loaded when u are in the opposite end, the other end will it be working?. I am certain u r away like 100 chunks apart. How will those work out?
Most modpacks have a form of chunkloading - in this case I'm using Server Utilities which is a replacement of FTB Chunks
Sir (or madam?), as a mainly 1.16+ modded player whose favorite tech mod is create and who couldn't get past MV on Nomi, absolutely incredible work, I cannot fathom how or why someone would spend this much time on one modpack.
I don't even know why I did either
@@dashinking honest confession gregtech as a mod scares me
I think the mod has a reputation for being difficult to approach and tedious, but to me, it's not as bad as most say it is, though I completely get that it's not for everyone. If you start off with an easier pack (like Nomi) and stick with it past early game, it's fun to be able to build up a factory and gain access to cool stuff.
@@dashinking no it's just that I'm god awful at planning and automation and have zero patience for waiting lol
Understandable, the waiting is pretty bad lol

im curious to know what kind of pc specs were required to be able to play without crashes
CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700F
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super
32.0 GB RAM
Some things that made the game perform much better compared to previous years was the addition of Angelica and switch to Java 19-21.
