More specifically, vaporwave is a nostalgic melancholic genre that usually takes old music, slows it down, distorts it and then cuts it up and stitches it back together. Simpsonwave isn't all vaporwave, but the graphics themselves are in the same style as vaporwave- old, slowed down, distorted and small sections replayed in sequence, all with a melancholic look and feel. It's appropriate, and they just went well together.
