It would be! This is all speculation on my part, obviously, but I do think there's significant evidence to suggest that MTG's philosophy toward Plarium and RAID could be better for the player experience in the long run.
This video was absolutely awesome! I appreciate the analysis and I now actually understand what's going on with the sale of Plarium. I certainly hope they do what you said and they make Raid an evergreen title and actually add lots of much needed QoL changes to make the game much more enjoyable!

Thank you! Honestly, the research I did has really helped me to feel better about RAID moving into 2025. Like you said, there's been so much negativity lately. It's nice to see that there's a real reason to hope for the future of our game.
Really loved the in depth approach here. The news about potentially expanding into the Chinese market has me most excited- hopefully MTG has plarium clean up a lot of the ongoing QoL features before that launch to benefit new and existing players
Yeah, that would be nice. In addition, China has a bunch of laws governing gacha games, which may impact how mechanics around shard pulls, etc operate. That could be a nice improvement as well.
As usual, you slayed this video! I'm officially nick naming you "the Teach", Saph is "the Professor" but you my friend, are definitely the TEACH! I Really enjoy the breakdowns of ALL your content, so easy to understand and comprehend, you are still my fav. Keep it up for us "simple folk" out here. LOL
I completely agree with your point about the shift in focus. It's high time the game prioritizes player experience over profit-driven decisions. Expanding the player base and making those necessary quality-of-life improvements would be a game-changer, and it’s exactly the direction Raid needs to go in. Here's hoping for a more player-centric approach in the future!
Agreed! My biggest contention has ALWAYS been that prioritizing the player experience in a game brings both profit and longevity. Aristocrat was never worried about longevity. I think MTG MUST be. That's the biggest reason I think we'll see a shift toward a player-centric approach.
@@ColredPlaysRSL with MTG's history of valuing their communities, I think they’ll see the bigger picture! As for the "dry January" going around by the big spenders taking a stand - It’s a way to show the devs that their wallets won’t just keep flowing without improvements. Do you think it’ll make an impact?
I do! I think MTG is probably currently assessing all aspects of RAID's performance, including community sentiment. When they see major CCs publicly declaring their objections to RAID's current operating model, I think they'll want to address it relatively quickly once they take ownership. Hoe much of an impact will "dry January" have? I don't know. But the timing is perfect.

Say what you want about Plarium, but Raid is a damn good game and extremely addictive and I'm looking forward to continuing playing it for years to come. I hope MTG does it right
Thanks for the in-depth dive on this sale, really puts things into perspective. One thing to note, its not all of Asia, I think its only China but the rest of Asia can play through plarium play. I'm playing from Singapore
Heh, me too! In the end, this is all just speculation, but the evidence does seem to point in a positive direction for RAID. We'll just have to wait and see.
@ColredPlaysRSL Speculation based on good deductive reasoning and great research / insight into both companies is speculation I can get behind. 🙂 Good work!
Great video colred! I really hope your right! I really dont think we will feel or see change until almost next Christmas sadly these big companys take alot of time to get anything into action. I do think the gameplay will feel better eventually but for monetization i dont think will change at all prices of pack will stay same or go up imo.
You may be right. There's a lot of inertia at big corporations. The good news is that MTG is not as large as Aristocrat was, and mobile games are MTG's primary focus, whereas they were Aristocrats second or third focus. So I think we MAY see movement on some issues more quickly than we've been used to in the past, but there's no telling (yet) what that timeline will look like until we see it.
nice that it's the owners of Ninja Kiwi, they're a very user-centered/user-friendly developer if thats anything to go by, hopefully we get a similar focus on quality in raid
Excellent breakdown for why plarium has been squeezing our nutz these past few months and will likely continue to do so untill the company switches hands
I think we've already started to see some minor shifts in Plarium's approach to the game. Technically, the sale hasn't gone through yet, but I'm sure there's daily communication with MTG in preparation for the move. So the small hints we've been seeing may be a result of MTG's influence.
I like Aina! She brings a weaken, a dec. DEF, and hits hard! The problem is that she's very squishy. So in a killable team, you're going to need some shields/ally protection/strengthen buffs to keep her alive long enough to do good damage. If you've got that, she may do quite well.
Currently running rector, giath, stokk, zavia, lanakis. Generally 2 key nightmare but sometimes it takes 3. Thanks for the info on her!!@ColredPlaysRSL
I was too. Honestly, the general sentiment about the sale made me skeptical about my own first-take, so I really researched as much as i could. But I honestly can't think of any reason why this sale wouldn't be a good thing for RAID and its player base.
As I have little experience in this domain, I recognize that the high cost of the deal could worsen the situation, cause as u know that need to covered. However, this year has seen more quality content creators, and I’m observing solid decisions and solidarity. We must also consider competition. With that in mind, so i m optimistic for 2025
The purchase of Plarium has been financed over a 4 year term. That means that MTG hasn't invested their own capital, leaving them with operating flexibility. Also, the cash generation of Plarium is so strong, that should further improve MTG's operating and expansion capacities. So, I don't think the purchase of Plarium will mean an increased focus on price-gauging the players. Rather, I think the strategy towards revenue generation will focus on growing the player base and leveraging that increased population into a higher volume of sales. At least, that's how it appears so far. We'll know more once MTG takes control.
i wish there was a way to get mtg to watch this video and heed the advice to change gears away from 100% predatory profit maximization, for the sake of the future health of the playerbase amidst competition from king arthur and godforge in 2025. one idea i had for plarium to put out a raid spin-off game was to link the siege game mode with a new action title featuring raid champs, along the lines of fortnite/valorant/marvel rivals. all players in the clan have a 24-hour window to put their favorite champ onto their clan's squad to battle against the other clan. if you have no interest in playing the action game, you can just keep playing raid and let the action game control your champ in battle like a npc. or you can download the action game, register with your raid um playerID, and take control of your champ yourself to try to take down as many of the opposing clan's champs as you can to win the siege. your abilities in the action game can loosely correspond with your champ's a1/a2/a3/passive skills in raid, with 10-15-20 second cooldowns on the non a1 skills during battle.
Cool idea! It sounds fairly complicated to implement, and I don't really see Plarium going this route, but I like the concept. I do hope they find SOME way to improve siege mode this year. Thanks for the comment!
Of note you might also know that Plarium generated a large additional interest in RAID on purpose by marketing some enticing incentives to it's other game players such as Stormfall/Pirates, etc to come play RAID. This inflated those numbers in Google look ups and of course sales for a period between May 2024-July 2024. I will say RAID is still their biggest money maker which is what was attractive to the buyers and I do think they will focus on keeping it a top game. The thing that seems hopeful for me as Plarium will get out from under the Casino game mentality parent company.
I think that game companies are always trying to drum up interest through various marketing strategies. As a CC, i see it all the time. Game companies try to poach players and content creators from other games through sponsorships. That's why we're seeing so many King Arthur sponsorships on RAID channels right now. I don't think that approach will be affected by this sale, but, like you said, there are other good things that may happen now once Plarium is out from under the umbrella of a casino company.
Since each boss in the game requires a specific hero, and getting them out of 800 heroes is almost impossible, very necessary free heroes to choose from as periodic f2p rewards 🤔. Plarium need to do this.
I like that idea. I think we've seen soem very good free login champs as well as excellent fusion champs. But I would like to see an increased emphasis on helping newer players progress, and that could require specific early game champions as rewards.
@@ColredPlaysRSL I've been playing for 1,5 years, i still don't have Seeker and Armstrong to farm the 6th clan boss for 1 key. This system will be good and needed also for many players who playing for a long time

@ColredPlaysRSL yeah it's not very often you get a game as established as raid. I think they're nuts for letting this game go. This game has the ability to always be at the apex by really listening to what people want. It's a good move for raid itself having an actual gaming based owner and not gambling but yeah I'm actually looking forward to see where this goes. Good work on digging deeper into the sales too man👍
The problem with greatly increasing the profit margin to make Plarium an attractive target is the acquiring company is going to want that profit margin to continue and grow......cash grab only gets worse....
There is some threat there, right? If the profits don't match the previous year, the new owners may get unhappy. At the same time, since Plarium should benefit the overall MTG ecosystem, as long as the whole company's profits are better, there may be less of an emphasis on Plarium's direct contribution. That could ease the pressure on the "cash grab" in RAID.
I don't think that Snowprint will get control of any of Plarium's assets, BUT if they're customer service is so good, that may one of the synergies that MTG envisions as beneficial to Plarium's operations. I like that idea. t👍
Sadly this is about a year late for me. I quit about the time they added empowerment for epics. Was in top 100 live arena at the time. Yeah, that's always true. I hope we see positive change. I don't like the long-term outlook of RAID if we don't see some significant improvements in the next 12 months.

Hmm , we shall see if it's the best year , they have soo much time to fail hard
Yeah, that's always true. I hope we see positive change. I don't like the long-term outlook of RAID if we don't see some significant improvements in the next 12 months.
thank you for the breakdown. I've had already forgotten the selling of Plarium. 😂
You're welcome! Yeah, I think the sale is going to have a major impact. I'm already impatient for it to happen. The sooner we get away from Aristocrat, the better.
