    You are soooo right about holding them gently. Just sliding your hand under a trout keeps it more calm. It's when you actually grab it and apply pressure that they fight you.

    I see you use mentioned that you use barbless but it should be noted when targeting wild trout barbless is REQUIRED in nj. The barbs really can rip the lip up pretty good when being removed. These fish often times see a lot of targets. People need to make sure they’re primping barbs.
