@@_matt_hammond_ how much did you pay for yours? All the ones I see listed are above $200 and I just want to make sure that’s what they’re going for before buying one
@@_matt_hammond_ nice, I just purchase mine on eBay today. I’m a complete beginner though and I’m a little confused as to why it comes with a memory stick and not a Hi8 tape ? Do you mind explaining? Thanks in advance
It's so weird that people are saying that a Handycam from 2002 is "vintage". Also, great job at deinterlacing the footage properly -- I don't really see anyone on here do it right, let alone do it at all.
So you buy a cable online and that plugs into the camera and then your laptop. You then screen record the footage on your laptop and that’s it:) plenty of tutorials online
@@_matt_hammond_ Back in the days of Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) televisions they got around refresh rate 'flicker' by drawing every other line in one pass. So, the electron beam that lit up the screen would draw line one, from side to side, then line three, down to line 479, before going back and drawing the even-numbered lines. This was not a big deal, until we tried watching this on computer monitors with 60hz 'progressive' (drawing every line) refresh rates. Then, whenever you paused a frame, or the camera panned from one side to the other, there would be a 'venetian blind' pattern, as one frame was 'interlaced' with the next. De-interlacing either takes two half-frames, combining them with a 'tweening' algorithm, or doubles each frame, shifting the duplicate down one line.

Sony camcorder recordings just have that look. Sony is doing something different than the competition.
