I’ve had a lot of questions about Hobonichi lately - the size of the books, the paper, which covers are good for which books, how to choose what to buy, so I thought I’d take you through all my Hobonichi planners, notebooks, covers and drawer pouches.
It’s a long video which I know many of you love but if you’re interested in something in particular, here are your timestamps:

💕💕💕I’m having the same struggles with choosing which planners I wanna use for 2023. I thought I had my mind made up with the new English Hobonichi Cousin, but then Sterling Ink just launched a new planner that’s just like the cousin but it’s B6 size which is my preferred size. So, that will be what I preorder on the 1st. I’m also still using an Erin Condren for my stay at home planner. I’ll probably never stop using those planners, as I’ve been using them for years. I too love planning and it’s also my favorite hobby. I love everything about it especially when it involves cute stationary. I’ve just accepted that I will have anywhere from 3-6 planners in any given year. The process of setting them up and the new feeling is something that brings me great joy and I’ve always been someone who says you only live once so do whatever makes you happy… and buying all the things for my planning habit is my happiness.
Anyway… I hope you find planner peace and I just know you will make a decision and I hope it’s what makes your heart happy. 🎀

💕 So many options! This probably doesn’t help but Hobonichi have introduced an A6 weekly calendar insert this year - a week over two pages. Plus there are the memo books in all the sizes for your notes 🤔 which can be collaged or stickered or washied all over 🤩. Personally I could not go past the Records and Hotel Travelers Company covers released this year so that’s what I will be using for 2023, but still struggling with what planner inserts to use as well. I swear it’s been eating at me for months now 🤯 the struggle is real, and I don’t even have a work/social/personal life that requires any kind of planning 😂😭 Seriously looking forward to your haul though. I LOVE that you wrote so much! I think the weekly supplement is a regular thing. I’ve thought about getting it before but the columns are even skinnier (I think). Yes! The TN is really making me happy. I’m going to be using my passport for everyday personal planning. Loving it. Super excited for 2023. ❤️
They have had the A6 weekly supplement for years. I’ve made it work by drawing a line across near the top. Things related to a particular day, I’ll put in each column. Underneath the line, I break up the two page spread into 4 sections for different kinds of to-do lists/goals etc, so that gives me two columns to write in for each, instead of just the one super skinny section. It’s very portable. If only it had a monthly section, it would work perfectly for a slip-into-a-purse EDC.
The decision has been so difficult for me every year, too. I love the weeks for everyday carry, but I love the A6 size better. They do have a weekly insert for the A6 that I might try out. But I will get the A5 for capturing memories. I love your cover collection and look forward to seeing what you buy this year:)

Loved it Desley 🌸 The prettiest cover I think I've ever seen - by which all covers are now measured - is the one with the jelly cover from Messy Bun Creations with the coloured dots underneath. Beautiful 💗

I will be getting a weeks in the Marie (aristocats) print. I might get my daughter one too, she turned 25 yesterday. We both love cats & have one that looks like Marie. I also will get an A6 in English. I will add pencil boards, again in the Marie print. I have Gillio covers for both the weeks & A6. Both in pink! Your covers are so pretty!!

Fantastic video. You'll do an unboxing when it arrives, right? I don't have to think about this until later because I'm the spring roll out. So for work I switched from the Cousin to a notebook. That has worked brilliantly for notes from catch ups with the boss, ad hoc meetings, attendance lists at meetings, and random to do lists. It's worked really well and I'll carry on with that for sure. But...a big but...I don't plan out my weeks and I'm really noticing that as things have become more frantic as the year has gone on. Thank you NHS! It's there I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do. I really just need a book of weeklies. I love the cousin because the weeklies are just the right size but I don't need everything else.
On a less confusing note, the Cousin for home life is still perfect and my ❤️. And I was the sceptical one! I don't decorate at all anymore. Zig dot pen on the weeklies and I just write on the dailies!
Thank you! Yes probably a couple of unboxings lol. So happy to hear about your notebook for meetings. That’s what I’m thinking too. You could get the A6 weekly supplement and slip it in your notebook cover. I’m also finding it frantic without my weekly setups so I’m considering the same thing (or the A6 planner and set up daily plans). So glad the personal cousin is working well 💕

I am having the same struggle deciding on which planners to buy for next year. I like planning and journaling as a hobby like you and like to try new planners. I am thinking of getting Sterling Ink B6 planner avec version for work. I love & collect the Hobonichi weeks and will be buying 2-3 for 2023. I use a Hobonichi A6 Days Free to reflect on the day and gratitude. Days Free allows me to write on more pages. Whatever you decide will be great and if you change planners later, it's ok as long as you enjoy what you are doing.
I totally agree - you just have to enjoy what you’re doing. The Day-Free is a great option and I did consider that one. But went with the Avec for journaling 🥰
Oh and I meant to say - the Sterling Ink looks pretty good! I watched her video the other day and B6 is such a good size.
It is nice to see all these great looking planners. I am sure you'll be able to choose the best one for your use; although they all do look really nice. I can only dream of owning one. It is so expensive in my country and I can't afford to buy. I do love journaling so the most affordable thing I could get is a B5 sketchbook, it has 128 sheets (256) pages and it only cost me a little over USD3.00 (converted from my country's currency), which I use for 6 months.

Love the separate health journal! I have a cousin but it’s pretty full. I try to fit work school my house my dtr and my health and it’s a little squished.

Great chat, thanks. Nice to hear an Aus accent! I've been in Hobonichi for 8 years come 2023. Going to pare down to an A6 (Mina Perhonen Anemone) for planning and an A6 notebook as an accompanying commonplace book.

I use a Weeks to carry in my purse. I use a Cousin for my main planner to hold everything. I also had to order a new 5-year in the A6 size as my current 5-year ends this year and it's a real chunky monkey. For that, I make my own cover out of a piece of fabric I like. I am awaiting my order as it is 'shipping soon'! but I NEED to know about the sticker in the front of your Techo - the F*** off one!

Hobonichi weeks because it is complete, slim, and you do not have to buy a cover….I have small handwriting, fits my style.

Yes! That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking since I filmed this - an Avec and a notebook in the one cover. Just need to decide between A5 and A6 but I’m SOOO tempted to go A6. I just love this season 🥰🥰🥰

Ahhh so many options! I like the idea of the A6 daily and notebook in the one cover, especially for work, it sounds like it’d be really easy to carry around the office! If you’re missing the emoji back-planning, could you maybe use a weekly for that? I know it’s smaller but might be enough room to put a few emojis and text over the left and right pages in a continuous line? 🤔💖💖💖
I do love the idea of the planner and notebook in the one cover but I’ve decided on and a6 planner plus a5 notebook because I’ll most likely leave the planner on my desk anyway. That way I can put personal todos etc in there too and not feel like it will be on display.
Yep the emoji back planning is still not featured in the new lineup. Im still thinking about that 🤔

I appreciate you sharing all of the covers you have etc but wow was that overwhelming 😂! I will be using a weeks planner to carry around in my purse. For me it is the perfect size because it fits in almost all of my purses and I change purse a lot. Then i will be getting a cousin for daily journaling of what went on in my day. I like to write a run down of my day including health things all on the same page. I will be getting a cousin avec for creative journaling / common placing so i can stick in papers of whatever i want and not worry if it gets chunky. And lastly I believe i will be getting for the first time an A6 5 year techo in the bloom set. I think i will be using it for writing down current events. As far as the covers i like the Finish Fruit Tree one for my cousin, the avec will go in the same animal crossing cover from last year and the weeks will be the hardest to decide for me. I am getting the bunnies weeks but i also like the light purple one and the cream one with the boots and bird, the museum one that’s landscape and the cafe one. Yikes too many options. I am getting the bunnies for sure and one other option most likely. 💖 💖💖

I know how you feel about the a6 vs a5. I started this year in an a6 and added the hobonichi weekly supplement planner and loved it. I'm still undecided but moving into an avec is definitely a must to accommodate chunking.
Yes! Have gone with the Avec for journaling. But didn’t get the supplement. I will be ordering again on October 1 so I have time to think about it 💕
I scribbled weeklies in rings and then deco-memoried in my MUJI A5 Weekly (inside Hobo A5 cover). For 2023 I’m going to continue planning in rings, but my creative memory “volume” will be the Hobo A6 - just need to decide Original vs. English. TFS - I really love your thumbnail photo 💗
Oh thanks so much! I love it too. Ah the Muji - I’ve never tried it. I also think the Take a Note looks interesting. But this year I’ve gone mostly A6. I went with English for my health journal and Avec for journaling. ❤️

Yep we’re moving heavily into clinical, already supporting multiple hospitals around the country for whole exome sequencing, cytogenetics and so much more. It’s definitely fascinating. I just love it. And love that even those I’m in sales and marketing, I’m still using my science degrees 👩🏻🔬💕

@@amycampbell2264 we work with clients overseas as well but for clinical, there are definitely places in the US using providers like us but local to them. It’s amazing and going to make a huge difference via personalised medicine.

Oh no! Now I’m more confused! I have a cousin and notebook, was thinking of a5 avec and notebook, then I discovered take a note that has more space for weeklies so probably will enjoy more as I feel guilty of not using consistently the dailies in my cousin. Now watching your video I’m thinking I might need a B6 ( not so overwhelming dailies and portable) 🤪😭😭😭 heeeelp!
Oh no!!!! B6 is a very good size. And the Tke a Note does seem very good. But I just love the Hobonichi system so that’s where I am right now. I do have a B6 notebook that I might use for something but the majority for me next year is going to be A6 🥰

💞💖 Hello! Have you considered a B6 for work? Sterling Ink is coming out with one that looks like a simplified Hobo Cousin in a B6 size. I think I’m going to stick with the cousin for another year at least. I’ll also be introducing the Weeks to my lineup.
I just saw the Sterling Ink yesterdays and it looks stunning. But I’ve gone with A6 for next year, will see how that goes. It will be weird without a cousin!! Ooo which Weeks are you getting!? ❤️
