    This is the best reaction video. Clearly you understand what is happening, and the gravity (no pun intended) of this moment. More importantly, you were amazed and excited by every milestone and you cap it nicely with the catch moment. I love it and I can hear the little cry in your voice with excitement. It’s toxic.

    Great reaction.... do you think it hovers and lets the earth rotate and then just comes down??

      The center engines all gimble. So they have thrust vector control for the precise landing. The booster uses that to swing into the arms at the last seconds. It's not actually hovering during the landing, just a well controlled descent. Allows them to be as fuel efficient as possible and make use of the chopstick hardware to fully arrest the booster.
      For actually returning to launch site there is a boost back burn, and then the booster essentially flies using the grid fins and it's body like a giant wing. So it's basically falling with style.
      Hope that's a reasonable explanation! Thank you for watching and commenting, glad you enjoyed it!

      @@cuddlefishez I understand there is a boost back burn, but my question is at what altitude are you no longer apart of the rotation of the earth? like maybe it doesn't have to go as far back as we might think depending on the altitude and at what point you're apart of that rotation.

    • @cuddlefishez
      @cuddlefishez  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@recifebra3 So the distance covered by the rotation of the Earth in the amount of time that the booster is coming back is about 200km in absolute distance. The rotation of the earth never stops and always continues eastward its about 1000 km/hr. Booster goes 4000ish I think. But the main answer is that the gravity of the earth always is trying to pull the starship and booster back. To escape the gravity well of the earth it is all about the velocity, the rotation of the earth helps assist with that when launching east. Altitude is independent of this. So the booster has to fly back quite a distance still. The atmospheric drag decreases at higher altitude which makes it easier to go faster horizontal to the earths surface. There are good online resources for orbital mechanics if you want to learn more! Good question! Hopefully that helps answer it!

      Understandable, but I won't change my way of speaking. There are many clean and wholesome channels! If I spend the whole time worrying about how I speak. I would never say anything at all. I understand some people don't vibe with it, but being honest, that is not my problem. I swear for my own personal reasons, and if folks don't like it, they can watch other stuff! I am going to keep doing my own thing. Thanks for watching!
