Wow. This is a great performance. Absolutely loved it all, especially the tenor solo. I wish my Jazz Band will sound as good as this when WE perform it October 30th. The only (slight!!) problem I had was that I wish the bass were playing with the trombones at the beginning, would have sounded amazing. Great job guys (and gals!)
Sister Girl on the bass has got it goin’ on! It would’ve been great if they could’ve matched her in articulation, phrasing or whatever needed. My opinion she was head and shoulders above the rest. Disclaimer: If I was in the room I might have an easier opinion but, it just seems the horns were sloppy and there were no dynamics. Guitar was good; drummer solid and had flair; keyboard I couldn’t hear which is ashame since I play keys. I have the chart in front of me so it seems she was playing the ink OK. Leader just emailed the chart this AM. Looking forward to reading in next rehearsal….and we have a trumpet player that can go 128va. Insert eyerolling here. But all in fun. Reads a helluva lot better than I do.
