This is exactly what I need. My printer of over 10 years is struggling to work and I only print one page of text every few months for labels or signing contracts etc. 100 sheets of thermal A4 paper costs under £12 and will last me for years. I don't like how modern printers only work if connected to the internet so they can check you're buying their rip-off cartridges and not refilling old ones. Some companies have even made it so the scanner won't work unless your ink cartridges are full. This looks like a great solution although I wonder how many pages it can print in its lifetime? Thanks for sharing Dr J!

Japanese businessmen use these when they are with customers ,away from the office. Very handy indeed.

This is brilliant - my standard wifi printer experience sounds just like yours - a daily standoff with whatever device is trying to connect to it! Very interested in this.

**THERMAL PAPER WARNING** for viewers who would purchase this product. When thermal printers/word processors first came out we bought one to do office work and loved this as an alternative to using ink cartridges or toner. We used it to type hundreds of songs for a music ministry (this was using a word processor so it was a long time ago). We filled books of this thermal paper with beautifully typed up music. Well here's the warning, all of that paper faded to yellow and our "archives" are now barely legible because the letters that once looked beautiful and dark turned into faded barely visible blurbs. Hundreds of hours of typing some archival music and much of it was lost (only because this was when we backed things up on paper vs cloud today). So this is long term experience with thermal paper and you should beware if this is for any long term archival purposes or important documents. It won't last so nothing important should use this type of printing process (nothing formal or important). I hope this helps someone!! I love the idea of this printer, it's adorable, I just know what happens to thermal paper over time and the burned in type, will go bye bye. Of course you can always make copies with an ink copier or scan these in to something so not saying it's not worth a buy.. just a heads up!

Nice little device, as long as it's no more than £59.95, I'll buy it (because that's what I would imagine the price point should be)

This would have been a nice addition to my Palm Pilot VIIx circa 200 or so. I'm serious. Back then I always had to find a local printer to connect to--- a difficulty in meetings outside of my own office.
I even have that fold out keyboard. A printer this size would have added to the magic.

Lots of mentions in the video of sticking the printout to things. Can you get thermal printing labels or do you need to use sticky tape ? I can see no application for this printer as a home device. I can print from my 'phone directly to my inkjet printer that sits on my desk and is ready whenever I need it to print from any of the PCs, phones or tablets in the house
This looks to me like a very niche product. How long lasting are the printed pages or do they fade after a time and the paper looks very flimsy. A quick look found that 200 A4 sheets of thermal paper can cost £23 - OUCH !

I don’t think you can get sticky thermal paper. I always use tape to stick my labels on though. For me, my printer is in a cupboard and is slow to start up, also the ink is very expensive and doesn’t last long. So I get a lot out of this thermal printer. I agree that the paper is expensive, but then again ink isn’t exactly cheap! This certainly won’t replace my inkjet, but I’ve already used it twice in the last week!

If you will use it for postage labels, don't cover the whole label in parcel tape, it'll bleach out and fade the text, it has some weird reaction with the thermal paper, camp's tip of the day 😉
