Ryuken absolutely has to get into the battle especially given the sheer grief Yhwach put his family through. And it wasn't just them. An expanded role would be perfect and would tie in perfectly with his postwar position as his and Uryu's relationship heals.

Kubo has more balls than he can juggle. If he had been willing to kill off more of the good guys (or just created more bad guys) Tessai might have had something worthwhile to do. Maybe he was working some great kido spell to help stabilize the three realms but Kubo could have spared a single panel to indicate that he played any role besides minding the store.
Isshin is there to connect with Rangiku and Toshiro. He’s going to be proud of Toshiro’s incredible strength and his new bankai . and there’s a good chance he’ll step in to save Rangiku from Gerard.
Cour 4 is where Isshin might use Bankai since it’ll be a BANKAI season anyway. Ryuken being a powerful character in his own right. But most importantly to expand on Soken’s plan to put down Yhwach once and for all.
Highly doubt it, the reason they cut aizen talking about isshin bankai in ebtr is probably to avoid creating false expectation on his bankai since it wasnt showed in the end
Although he did some long flashbacks like TBTP, EBTR and FRIEND, Kubo is more for short ones, some pages summarizing the background of certain characters, that's his way of doing, working in more than a chance depending on the character, but many times leaving open questions and a desire to know more. Anyway, considering that a 50% of cour 4 will be of original contents and that the arrival of the fathers was anticipated, I definitely expect an active role for them (and many others). Like you said, I think the best solution is to have the daddies going to help the respective sons in time of crisis, since both of them will technically defeated by their respective opponents. Isshin can arrive like he did in FKT, when Ichigo lost to Yhwach, emotionally broken too, perhaps having some battle with the god (losing tho). Ryuken instead MUST come to save Uryu from Jugram, engaging a duel with the blond and proving why he's "the last quincy" (eventually a father ans son against him, but it doesn't sound very like Kubo, I see the scene more like Ishida senior sending away his son after giving him the silver arrow, taking care of the enemy by himself). The final final battle against Yhwach will be fine just with Ichigo, Aizen and Uryu, obviously far expanded.
Now that I think about it, I'd love see an extended scene of Isshin and Ryuken joining in the fray. If Kubo could showcase their abilities through their encounter with Yhwach, that would be great. Isshin doesn't seem to have shifted the responsibility of avenging Masaki entirely to Ichigo; the reason he shows up could be possibly because he has something to say or to do a thing or two. I do hope that Kubo does allow these fathers to support their kids in this battle, when they can't push through it. Let them be there for their kids at the right time.

I think kubo missed a trick without having all the war potentials fight together so this would kinda make up for it.
I really hope there is a connection between Yhwach and Soken. Whether it be they actually knew each other or it’s just that Soken was around long enough ago to learn about the ending of Yhwach’s original empire and Soken ended up being the man who figured out that Yhwach would return. I think it would be so cool if both of these fathers at least got to meet Yhwach (not sure if I want them to fight, even though I’d like to see Isshin’s bankai), but I do want them to stay the driving factors that give their sons the final push to take down their respective opponents. When it comes to them fighting, the most I would want is Isshin helping Ichigo to fight for a small portion. And then the same for Ryuken helping Uryu maybe against Haschwalth.
I don't need Kubo to give Isshin a whole new fight (even tho it would be cool), but what I would love is Isshin playing a role in getting Ichigo back to his feet after Juha breaks his bankai and leaves for the Soul Society.....the stuff we got with Renji, Rukia, Orihime, Ginjo and tsukishima were absolutely great, and a substantial Isshin moment on top of that would elevate the scene even more
It’s things like Ryūken and Isshin being still oddly nebulous in their roles in the story even in the finale outside of token assistance implies either they’re going after the true evil in Hell or will be revealed as its subordinates against Ichigo and the others alongside Yoruichi Kisuke to maintain the status quo that truly only benefits Hell in a hypothetical situation in the Hell arc That’s why I hope for the finale cour to fix things to make their stances clear to be on Ichigo’s side
If not for this video I hold have completely overlooked the fact that these two characters have the biggest reasons the hate Juha. Their hatred is immense. It would be more than appropriate to see them join Ichigo Renji and Aizen in the final fight
I see them helping out their sons in their respective battles as the most likely use for their characters. Isshin could also take renji's place in getting ichigo back to his feet. But I honestly agree with you in the fact that a yhwach-ryuken interaction would have been more interesting than isshin (even tho that should be absolutely fantastic too if it takes place). I think its more important we see ryuken interact with his son, help him defeat jugram and wrap that arc up as a priority to anything else for his character. Plus it'll be fun to see the 2 main quincies from the wandereich and traditional schools fight each other.

The final battle is already a 3 vs 1 between Aizen, Ichigo, Renji and Ywach. You could easily bring more characters in it since so many are already there anyway. But now that Isshin and Ryuken have arrived at the royal palace, there is no point in making them fight in Soul society, so I think they will have to fight up there. Bleach has way too many side characters, so it's very hard to make them all do something in the end... it would be cool to see Ginjou en Tsukishima take part in the fighting too, same goes for Chad which does absolutely nothing except fighting random statues. Now that we've seen Soldat are infused with Ywach's newfound power, maybe we will have a true final battle in the ruins of the palace while Ichigo fights the king himelf. Could also be a good time to bring back arrancars converted to Ywach's cause and stuff like that. Feels like Kubo forgot about those very quick.
I don't know man, Kubo might be more lenient now to characters teaming up with the big bad especially like how he did the Cinderalla fight in BTW, he even made it so Billy Banx can pitch in the fight
The whole Hirako(vizored)-Aizen-Urahara backstory is only six episodes long in Bleach anime. From we seeing Hirako having suspicions about Aizen, Urahara becoming a captain, Aizen turning the other captains into hollow/ confronting Urahara & causes him into exile, IS ONLY SIX EPISODES LONG! For how big of a character Urahara and Aizen are for the story, I always considered it a crime.
Izuma Ishida what happened to her? Ryuken's mother is presumed dead (add another lost loved one to the list)? It's a fair comment that characters, plot points, and secrets were left hanging ready for the thousand-year blood war in the manga. And to be fair to Kubo, he and everyone else thought he would have years to finish the story. Instead, he got sick and was given a deadline by the publisher to finish off in months. The new twist is how the hell is Uryu affected by Auswahlen and his mother isn't? If Uryu is somehow responsible for his mother's death (by unconsciously activating his ability or his mother activating her ability to save Uryu), adds yet another heartache for Ryuken. There needs to be a scene where Ryuken and Uryu either mend their relationship or break it for good. Both dads should be at the final battle as backup for their sons and help with the aftermath, both are doctors.
I think Isshin will go protect Sado and Orihime when the battle of Ichigo and Yhwach becomes to craze for them to make party of it. This way Ichigo can go all out without distraction
Kubo subscribes to P.T. Barnum's: "always leaver them wanting more" philosophy. It keeps us on the hook right up until the moment when he eliminates any possibility that it can happen. For example, we're unlikely to see Ukitake's bankai except in a flashback (no idea how damnation effects bankai). Sure, I'd love to see Isshin and Ryuken go all out in a battle (even if it was with each other, but that would almost take Shinji's bankai to set up at this point). The problem is a lack of meaningful opponents left to fight. Several people have already mentioned the potential of having Isshin help Toshiro and Rangiku against Girard, and I like that idea for him. But unless Ryuken helps Uryu with the Haschwalth fight, his logical opponents are narrowed down to Yhwach himself. Since his original role was to deliver the Still Silver arrowhead to Uryu he will still need to fulfill that function (unless Kubo changed that part of the story). I could see him initially trying to fire the arrow himself and failing in front of Uryu who then takes up the arrow and makes the shot. And I don't see any reason why Ryuken has to survive the fight.
Isshin will be there to pat Toshiro on the head. But he'll release bankai first. Ryuken needs to fight Hashwalth but I don't see how he fits with between the Balance and the Antithesis. Hopefully they both fight Gerard and go fight Yuha after, but it would it be weird for Ryuken to not help Uryu.
Personally, I think isshin will likely help in the fight against Gerard. Would be perfect to see him helping Toshiro and Rangiku, bringing things full circle back to when he was their captain. As for Ryuken, honestly, I have no real idea. My best guess is to assist Uryu, but it's seems unlikely. Ichigo and Uryu coexisting matters, like both of their fathers. It's also important to know Ryuken and Isshin have been alive long enough and are knowledgeable to Juhas spawning back into the universe. So the answer is NO! Ryuken and Isshin absolutely do NOT need to be involved with any fights for any reason. They are already serving their purpose, in which is to both coexist without fighting teacher. Quincy (Ryuken) Shinigami (Isshin) But if you really think they should get involved, you would be continuing the cycle of hatred between the shinigami and Quincy. We already witnessed Yama ji, vs Juha. And despite how Yama ji lost, it no longer matters.
If they can add in a few new fights sure, but the quality of the fights must be up there. I dont really want a flashback filled or heavy dialogue fights.
I don't think you should rule out a team up of Ichigo and Uryu against Yhwach since it definitely seems like thats the direction they going with. Heck, Kubo gave us Ichigo and Orihime vs Yhwach so that team up is 100% guaranteed especially with the arrow plot.

That doesn't really work for justice to isshins character. He needs to fight so we can see his bankai and show himself to other characters.
