A very pensive and serious work that I think succeeds quite well. Throughout, I was consistently impressed by the very personal and human quality of the writing. I never felt like the musical material became overly discursive or rambling, which, given the variety of material on offer is certainly something to be proud of. The musical narrative was clear and I never felt as if the story was lost, and instead was impressed by the consistently propulsive feeling in every beat. I personally find writing for band and wind ensembles quite challenging, but you've accomplished a texture that's at once effortless and strong enough to be communicated with samples that often struggle to match the fullness and intensity of the "real thing"-- no mean feat that, and I applaud it. It is, in my experience, a sign of very strong writing when it communicates even when the sonic textures struggle to match reality. The written score itself is a delight, at once simple and clear with a direct style that I find both quite legible and easy on the eyes. Very nice work on the engraving front-- and I am particularly impressed with how well it translates to a TH-cam score video. I myself struggle to condense scores into a version that will work in that format-- especially ones for larger ensembles, and yet here it is rendered with a clarity and grace that is quite fetching.
