I was invited to join long ago, and attended twice, and did not like it. The priest had a minor role, and mostly women dominated it, doing readings, and reflections. Not for me!
Seems like women dominate most every thing in many groups like this. I. Was invited to join the third order of St. Francis, Third Order of St. Dominic. Etc. Neither one was for me
"The priest had a minor role, and mostly women ... doing readings, and reflections." This is called healthy anti-clericalism and a genuine revaluation of the laity.
This priest does not really understand Opus Dei. This is called dangerous half-knowledge. He also seems to be afraid of clerics losing influence in the church and lay people becoming too important. Opus Dei only practices the new liturgy out of loyalty to the Pope and the Second Vatican Council. The form of the rite is not the most important thing. But what is important for every Opus Dei member is the sanctification of work, of him-/herself, of his fellow human beings and of the world. And this with joy and humility. Anyone who is truly Catholic... will now smile and rejoice. Those who are not... is in the clutches of the one who creates fear, anxiety and confusion.

@@glennso47I have been considering both of those. Also third order Carmelite. Can you tell me what it was you didn't like?
That would bother me, too. Zero tolerance for it.

It’s a cult.
