Mavic 2 Pro is on my list for my second drone. The first one is a toy but it's good for learning to fly/control. Kinda holding out to see if a 3 pro is coming.
Yeah Stewart's good hey i got the mini an im heaps happy with the little beast and Stewart's advice with it was awesome after using this toy i definatly want the pro2 but since the minis firmware update having manual control of the shutter speed ect has got me satisfied to just use it for filming for now
Now this dude is a true cinematographer! Excellent guide, never before thought to use the drone like an elevated static tripod and then have the subject enter into the frame, that's very simple yet totally clever!
This came up on my first search. I’m so stoked I watched this. Great content so informative! Makes me want to buy a drone NOW. New subscriber! Can’t wait to see more ….Thank you
Saving this video! I already do some of the selfie shots but you just expanded different ways to do it. Thanks a lot. Going to add a few of these for my upcoming drone Australia compilation
I do mainly vehicle dash board filming. Recently picked up flynore mini 2. Having some regrets of not researching more about sensors. Fir safety and subject tracking modes. Do you have any advise ? As a story teller I am relieved about what you had to say about subject and composition in here. Eliminating a real need for an expensive maverick 2. At this point I wouldn’t waist time with navicular air. Thank you from the states.
Dude I've been a subscriber to this channel for a few months now, and your vids are so informative. This channel has giving me lots of ideas. Still trying to learn alot from editing, but my main focus is selecting when and where to shoot on my MP2. Thanks and great job, keep them videos coming. Looking forward in an upcoming trip to Scotland and Ireland. Saying hello from Orlando, FL. 👏🏼👏🏼👊🏼🔥
Hi Stew Some great ideas for the novice. Question for you, what is the reason you shoot at 25? ive always shot at 30. It's the way I was taught many years ago. It's said Americans shoot at 25fps but us Brits shoot at 30fps. Thanks for sharing Ray K UK YNWA.
Hi Stewart, I found your tips excellent. Especially where I walk in to and out of a steady shot. This also now enables me to show myself and explain to my viewers of where I am and what I am seeing. Talikg in to the camera which is hovering either above or behind me. Great Stuff!!
Nice vid. You’re right about the quick shots. They are a pain but now and again you can drop them on a 24fps timeline at 80% or 25 at 83.3%. Smooths them out pretty well but the auto settings cause grading problems, granted.
What kind of drone do you have? Is it super expensive? I really like the quality. This is just so cool. I wasn't sure if they would be able to do this, but I guess they can.
Great content, always on the spot, and really inspiring for anyone new to videography and drones!!! Thanks a million time Stewart & keep up with the good work here!!
I really like the final tip. Never thought of that. I find the active track feature very frustrating at times. For some reason I have a difficult time selecting a mode other than spotlight. Am I the only one? Thanks again Stewart.
So I am interested in filming myself doing cardio exercising. This means that I wont be able to have a static camera as I am moving. I also have no friends. So my question would be if it is efficient to invest in a drone like this. I mean, as shown, it can follow you and target you while filming. But is it reliant, like, what if I am running through the neighbourhood on the sidewalk and there is stuff all around, other people walking by, dogs, road-signs, trees etc... Like, does it even work? In this video he is walking alone in a desolate area without a lot of obstacles all around, so in such a situation it seems to work pretty damn well, but what if there are obstacles like I mentioned, as there will be if you are running in a non-desolate place? How smart is it in this way, and would it even be safe. I do not want the drone to fly into other peoples heads or try to knock over the trees and what not ^^
Watch a superhuman Scottish man stand on a beach in full sunshine and not burst into flames! 😊 Just a tease, Stewart - love your videos, and am of course envious that you have the epic Highlands in your back yard.
Hi. Don't know if it could be used to film yourself, but. I like using course lock on the original mavic pro (not available as an option on the mavic 2!). Which is a shame, because it's very useful in getting Smooth rotations while moving forward, or backwards.
Great Info.I really like your channel and you put out some great information. I have a question in regards to manual camera settings in SPOTLIGHT MODE. Does the drone still remain in manual mode in regards to camera settings etc?
@@DroneFilmGuide But if you use quick shots yes it changes to auto but I see you can switch back over to manual before you press go.Only thing is it chooses 30fps instead. But at least one can still shoot with the 180 rule in quick shots instead if auto where it will choose your shutter speed
Hi, thanks a lot for talking about these non-Pro limitations of the Quickshot-Mode ! I agree that the automatic flights are great, but due to the limitations concerning exposure and colour, it is indeed nearly useless. Hopefully you can give an impulse, to make DJI thinking about changing these limitations. I Like your videos as well as your mind-set concerning the whole gear-hype, which i came across in earlier videos.
I’ve love the tutorials that you make and have been putting your lessons to good use ever since I started my own channel. I recently purchased the Mavic 2 Zoom and have used these features while film my flying vlogs. QUESTION! Which microphone were you recording this with? There didn’t appear to be that reverberation that I struggle to get rid of in my similar setup.
Soundstripe looks good, but should be a hobbyist subscription with limited downloads for a couple of dollars a month. Do they not have plans for world domination? Great video content BTW. Thanks ( I have a mavic pro, davinci resolve, Galaxy s10)
Some interesting ideas thanks, would liked to have seen how tip #4 looked though. First time I have seen your channel, so I am now a subscriber and look forward to improving my videos by learning from yours 🙏
Can I suggest that you reduce the intro to this video? Watning for one minute before we get to the essence of the video seems a long time. Great tutorial by the way.
Useful tips! I often do outdoor stuff alone, already bringing alot of stuff in the backpack. No place for a drone on many occasions 😥. But then I capture shots on a diffrent day, with the same weather as the prime narrative...kinda cheating but whatever makes the final edit complete. I will definitely try to implement some of your tips in a future production. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, thumbs up from Sweden!
how does this work, doesn't this go against the VLOS rule? you literally have your back turned to the drone at times...and I doubt you have a observer. So do most people just ignore that regulation lol cus I see most youtubers do this.
I woke up today without owning a drone. Watched this video...and now I own a drone. DJI pay this man!
Mavic 2 Pro is on my list for my second drone. The first one is a toy but it's good for learning to fly/control. Kinda holding out to see if a 3 pro is coming.
The redReiter You should get the Phantom 5. I got the Inspire 1 V2.0 since short. Awesome drone too.
@@oliviergoggins well I already got the Mavic 2 Pro. The inspire drones are a bit pricier, and I just have it for fun not for work.
I like my deerc d15 more than my Dji

Amazing! Can wait to try it! Thanks.... from Mont-Tremblant, Quebec
You are so nice sharing your tips. Thank you!
Haven't got a drone, stayed because you're a great speaker. Nice one man!
These are some great pointers for new drone users
This was fantastic! I was learning this through experimentation, but it was nice to hear I was on the right track!
Beautiful scenery. Loved the music and sounds.
Saving this video! I already do some of the selfie shots but you just expanded different ways to do it. Thanks a lot. Going to add a few of these for my upcoming drone Australia compilation
Excellent video. Always, always enjoy your informative videos. 👍🏼👍🏼😃 Thanks very much for showing 👍🏼👍🏼

Man, thank you so much for this 🤝 respect ✊
These are great tips! It's good fun flying low, and the footage is usually rewarding. 🙂
Thanks
Very good tips for filming yourself with the drone. I will have to try some of them out. Thanks for sharing.
I love your channel man! I use lots of your tips, and it is satisfying to see my footage get better more and more!
Thanks for sharing this. Very helpful in bringing someone’s drone footage to the next level. Keep it up and more power.

Can the dji mini 2 follow you by tracking?

Can you do all this with a mini as well?
Great tips! Thanks!
YES THANK YOU! this is just what i needed to watch so i can better understand how to film with a drone:)
Hi! Does the new Mini Drone have the same settings too?
Brilliant! Thank you so much for your videos.
super nice vid. thank you DFG
I really like the final tip. Never thought of that. I find the active track feature very frustrating at times. For some reason I have a difficult time selecting a mode other than spotlight. Am I the only one? Thanks again Stewart.
Hi there is a tip about how most people manage to hide this big remote that they are holding when theyre trying to film themself ?
So I am interested in filming myself doing
cardio exercising. This means that I wont be able to have a static camera as I am moving. I also have no friends.

Thank you those are helpful tips! Appreciate your insights and videos!
Great video 👌
Superb stew👍👏
Awesome info, thanks a lot
Thanks for the great advice. What video software would you recommend for putting the video together?
Any basic editing software is fine I'd say. We use FCPX but you don't need to go that far.
Super thanks mate you gave me some really nice tips. You got my sub 👍
awesome tips as always!

Course Lock is (was) our favourite mode.
Wow I just wish I could put together a video like this. The drone video's I mean
I just wish they had more flight options on the Phantom 4 like they do in the Mavic 2 Pro.
I now want a drone!
Great Info.I really like your channel and you put out some great information. I have a question in regards to manual camera settings in SPOTLIGHT MODE. Does the drone still remain in manual mode in regards to camera settings etc?
Yes it does (unlike Quickshots).

It's a Tascam Dr-10. Glad you're enjoying our videos!
Some great info here, well done am enjoying your tutorials.
Hi, why do you shoot in 25 fps?
Good video once again. I'm going to try the spotlight out now after your tips. The others I agree with as well.
Where can we hide the controller and its case?
Nice video mate 👍 can you advise how to create/tell interesting vlog story? I understand it's no rules game but still some rules apply. Cheers
but like.. what drones do this?
You’re accent .. subscribed!
I spotted the happy accident! helix lost you? looks AMAZING
Nice video
Tq man for the free learning resources i can say it was everyday i’ve to check my mail🤣🤣🙏🏼btw tq very much bro
Like the way you are talking so much and this special dialect ;)
YO Stewart ma men, you been to my local town, Aldeia do Meco, Portugal (shot at 3:02) :D
Thank you. Setting my controller down is a little unnerving, I might get a volunteer to walk into frame.

nice
why do you shoot in 25 frames rather than 24?
It's the European standard. 24 is the US standard. They both look the same though.
Hey I didn’t know about your 8 hour drone class. May I follow i it using a mavic air?
Certainly! It doesn't matter what drone you have for our Masterclass.
Drone Film Guide is there a promo code? Or maybe you will let one of your biggest fans in ;)
@@BeckersReviews That's a step too far I'm afraid but you will find the link in the description to this video gives you a $50 discount! 😀
