To be fair, I’m sure the members of this orchestra could play all these concertos by memory, they have played the same pieces for soloists at these competitions over and over 🤣
Listen to the Jacqueline Du Pre recording of the Elgar! Then watch the black and white documentary of her life. You will be transporter! I wish Jackie could have heard this young lady play! She would have loved it! Spectacular!
I don’t understand her phenomenon. Technically very good, nice sound, an objectively good understanding of form but there is a lack of something... maybe it is a lack of character. When you are listening to Jacqueline du Pre, Nicholas Altstaedt, Sol Gabetta, Steven Isserlis or Santiago Canon-Valencia you are fascinated by their playing and you can’t wait what’s next. I don’t know maybe this is the matter of predictable, one-dimensional playing, very proper, so-called nicely playing but without the power to seduce the soul, without a charisma. She is a really beautiful woman, nicely playing the cello, but it is not a top soloist level. She needs to find herself.
Musical Mind she looks a bit insecure. Not technically, it seems like she is hesitating before playing every note. But I think that this is just her character.
Funny thing. Musicians rise to the top of their profession though hard work and dedication not because they are born geniuses. Same for composers. What are you trying to say? It's nice to have gut feelings. But they are your gut feelings alone.
I see what you're saying, but what she has achieved is unachievable for most people. Musicians like du Pre are miracles! Their gifts shouldn't be normalized.
🎉she is wonderful ! ❤
Потрясающе!!!!
Best cellist ever!
The soloist amazing of course. Brava. But what really amazes me is that nobody looks at the conductor 😅
Samuel Matus as always 😂

What piece is this? I am sadly not familiar with it, and I would like to hear a more well known interpretation as well.

Typical professional music critics musings. He who judges the most says the least.
