The account of the foam was very informative, but I did miss Liam's wig. And how cool to have your handprints in the concrete ballast! And remember: enjoy every sandwich!
Hey James. Liam did a fabulous job of explaining. Loved we could put out permanent mark on the new boat. Liam even wrote Dexter’s name too. Sandwich was delish, although I could only manage half 😂. Have a lovely week ❤
Liam did an amazing job. I’ve never been so invested in spray foam application....ever. He explained it really well and I found it fascinating. The thermal temperature reader was a nice touch. Thanks Liam, great job 👏 🙂🐿🌈❤️

Hi Anthony and Paul. It’s really interesting to see how a boat is insulated. Liam is definitely really knowledgeable and it’s great that you have got to document the build. Sandwiches from Chatsworth. That’s posh 😄Take care. Nick

Hi, gentlemen! So glad to see all of that spray foam going into the boat. Certainly in addition to insulating, it helps the boat float?!? Ha! However, after seeing the cement ballast, I'm thinking more foam is needed! Ha! Anyway, enjoyed seeing the steps taken for the boat build. Have a wonderful weekend! 💙🚢⛴🚣♀️ (that's me in the canoe 😂).

He did a great job. Made up. Aww it was a great idea of his to leave our permanent mark on the boat. He even wrote Dexter’s name in later. Have a good weekend ❤
Happy Friday Evening to you! ❤ That was more interesting than I would have thought. I now have an idea of how spray foam works! 😊 The ballast part was interesting too. It seems better than bricks and it's very cool you got to put your signatures on the boat. Very nice of Liam to film that for you as well. Anthony, I hope you had a fabulous birthday! I had to look up Prague because I don't know much of anything about the place except I did realize that I'd heard of the astronomical clock before. Anyway it looks like an interesting place to visit. 🥰 Have a wonderful weekend. ❤
Hey Dorothy. We thought this was going to be dry but Liam did a great job. Had a fab birthday thank you. Prague was amazing and the clock was just incredible, especially because of its age. Have a lovely weekend ❤
@@anthonysmith-storey9247 Friday night was pretty exciting. Tornadoes very near by and the power was out until this afternoon. I had no idea how bad it was around me until I was able to get back online today. Spring in Indiana... sigh... March definitely went out like a 🦁here.
I found the process fascinating considering I don’t own a boat but love watching waterway vlogs, especially yours! Stay safe and see you next week - and love to Dexter.
That was interesting, I'd never thought about the insulation before. Liam is a natural, and thats because he really knows his stuff. Lovely his idea to get your handprints in the cement. Looking forward to the next installment, Crick is getting closer. Happy boat build xxx
Hey Susan. Who thought someone could make a dry topic such as insulation entertaining. He did great. He definitely knows his stuff. Can’t believe how soon Crick is going to be upon us. Have a great weekend and take care ❤
😂 Hope it doesn’t feel like that when we are aboard. It is going to be double glazed and the skylights are triple glazed. Should be nice and toasty. 😊. Have a lovely week ❤
He really did Glynn. We were made up when he sent the footage over. Definitely looking forward to the next stage of the build, but especially the internal fit out. Hope you are having a good weekend ❤
The thermal image clearly proves the benefits of insulation. Great explaining of the works from a to z! The sandwiches in the end certainly help to keep up the team spirit. ❤
I think this is a great way to introduce your new boat, a lot better than just showing the finished product when you have moved onto it, are keeping the same name, or having a new one
Thanks Christopher. We wanted to share as much as the process of our build. Liam has been really accommodating and it has been good to see the build process ourselves. We are keeping the name Morning Star but we are having it Painted this time. Have a great weekend ❤
Great to see, Liam does a grand job 👍 Tv personality in the making 😅. So cool to see the insulation process. We are so enjoying your build and mega excited for you both ❤❤❤
Aww thanks Jacqueline. He did a sterling job and definitely needs his own channel. We are loving seeing the process and can’t wait for the final build. Have a lovely weekend and hope to see you at Crick ❤
And I am finally caught up which is both sad and great; sad because now I have to find something else to watch while knitting and great because YAY, I am caught up and will get a new episode every week! I am looking forward to seeing how your new boat looks as it progresses. Oh, and keep showing Dexter 😁
Hey Marcy. Aww great you are all caught up. Hope you are enjoying the build process as much as us. Can’t wait to see the interior fit out take shape and finally the colour. We are beyond excited. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤

Hey Barry. He really did make it interesting. Not a great feat talking about foam insulation. Hope you had a lovely trip to the Philippines. Sorry you won’t be at Crick. Have a lovely weekend ❤
Wow! That was great! Liam is a natural on the camera, as well - good job! 👍 Lovethe handprints - we have 2 sets of small handprints on our concrete driveway from the 1960’s. Sadly, no names or initials. Those kids must be my age, now!
He really did do a fab job. The handprints were his idea too. He has since put Dexter’s name in too. Love stuff like that. I bet you would love to know the background of the handprints in your drive. Have a fabulous weekend ❤
I can see why you like getting video updates from Liam, he is a pro! And funny to boot! Happy with the progress and enjoying the journey with you. I hope you had a lovely birthday week Anthony, welcome to Club 50, I’ve been a member for a few years now😂. My advice, eat lots of coffee and 🍰. Love to you both and cuddles to the pup❤️❤️
Aww Dawn he has been amazing. Such a nice guy with a fabulous team. I had a great birthday thank you. Prague was beautiful. Great advice too 😂. Have a fab weekend and love to you and your family ❤
That was great! Liam did a great job videoing and explaining. I love how animated and expressive he was. He was like the David Attenborough of Narrowboat Buidling 😂. Give him a channel or at the least guest appearances. Love that Pete and Caroline were there with you. So excited for you both!!!! ❤️🤗❤️🐾 Kathy
Glad you enjoyed Kathy. Liam was amazing and so knowledgeable. He definitely needs his own channel. Aww we love Pete and Caroline and are travelling with them to Crick. Been great company. Have a lovely weekend. ❤
Hey Guys! Liam (kinda miss his long hair 🤣!) did do a great job explaining & filming how the insulation was done. You KNOW they did a good job! Love the hand prints in the ballast cement - what a great idea! I'm SO excited to see the progress on the build-out & am SO happy for you guys! Have a great weekend! Love & Hugs to all! ❤🐕❤
He really did do well Kathy. Really knowledgeable. Loved putting our prints into the cement. Made it very personal. Can’t wait to see the internal fit out. Have a lovely weekend ❤
Really pleased you enjoyed this Clara. Liam did a fab job. Dexter is with us in the Lake District curled in front of the wood burner. Have a great weekend ❤
I really love how all three of you put your hand prints into the ballast ! Liam..you did a great job explaining the insulation process so anyone could understand it. I also absolutely love the stove you've picked out for the boat, it's really a nice focal point for wherever it will be!
Liam’s idea Beth and a great touch. He really did amazing with the videos. Glad you like the stove. We definitely wanted a cleaner alternative to solid fuel. Have a lovely weekend. ❤
I love a good engineering video! It's crazy how much tech goes into modern narrowboat building. Not surprising of course, but it remains fantastic. So much math and science! With all the CNC tooling, I imagine the build out is much quicker and much more "accurate" than ever before. Looking forward to seeing her on the cut!
Hey Andy. We were surprised to see CNC cutting used but definitely makes for a more accurate build. Great for us as we didn’t see the boat build from scratch. Glad you are enjoying. Have a fabulous weekend ❤
I agree Liam did a great job but hell I’m so bloody excited as it’s so close, I just can’t start to imagine how you’re feeling. What’s left? Painting, fit out, have they done the power and water yet, probably not but if they can do what they did a few videos back in 11 day it really can’t be far from finished. Oh guys so exciting. 💕
Hey was great Pauline. We are so excited. I think the power/water etc is next and then the fit out. Can’t wait to see it all coming together. Hope you have a great weekend ❤
Great update guys and it’s fascinating how they apply the insulation. I’m sure it will keep you all warm during the winter months. Have a lovely weekend.
It’s always so good to hear a really committed professional talk about his/her area of expertise, well done for letting Liam speak for himself. My lovely Robin print arrived last week, I love it Paul, can’t wait to see it on the wall in my home.
Hi guys, what a terrific piece of filming Liam did. I found it so informative, instead of simply showing the insulation being sprayed, he showed us everything from start to finish from seeing how the chemicals are mixed to how it is sprayed, increasing layer by layer. Liam is a natural with the camera. What a treat, all those yummy goodies. Can’t wait to see next weeks Vlog. Happy cruising, Laurel & Keith 👩❤️👨🐶🍔
He really did a great job Keith and Laurel. Definitely learnt a lot ourselves. Didn’t get to see this process at all on the last build. Liam is a natural on camera. Ant believe he fed us. Those sandwiches were huge! Have a great weekend both of you ❤
Wow that should help keep you both cool and warm when needed. And to put your special touch to it! Fantastic. Enjoy your weekend and looking forward to further updates!
Yet again, quite excited for you! As someone who enjoys DIY, home improvement and "how things are done" type videos, I enjoyed the insulation segment quite a bit. Oakum should consider offering videos like this on a company channel. It'd go a long way for potential clients. Liam did a nice job. You two imprinting your hands in the concrete was moving. That's pretty special. Hope all is well. All the best!
We were made up he sent all that footage over. He is so knowledgeable and loved seeing the insulation process. It was Liam’s idea re the hand imprint which was a great touch. He even wrote Dexter’s name in. Have a lovely weekend ❤
I quite agree, Liam should have his own channel. lol What a difference that insulation makes. Jings! Your wee pals roll looked massive! Anyways, looking forward to your next instalment
Thanks guys for this great update and yes I think Liam is a really good presenter and should have his own channel. I hope that you three are doing well. Have a great weekend. Take care and all the best. Stevie
WOW, it is so amazing to see how your boat is being made & the progress of the build! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Liam did a great job with the video too! Thanks Jan. Great for us as we didn’t get to see all this last time. Liam has been great at sharing content too. Very knowledgeable. He definitely could have his own channel. Have a lovely weekend and take care ❤
Hi Paul, Anthony and Dexter-Dog. This is so interesting watching your new boat develop. Great preparation before the spraying of the foam. Liam was really clear in his explanation of how the foam all works. Love the huge Barm cakes sandwiches. Do you call them Barm cakes in Yorkshire? I was surprised to see your ballast is actually poured in concrete. What a great idea, (instead of laying bricks). Love your new Van. A great Vlog as always, and really interesting. Please give Dexter a hug from me. Take care.
Glad you enjoyed. It is brilliant for us to see too as we didn’t get to film much last time. Liam is great. Definitely barm cakes for us. We were surprised when we saw the concrete used, but when Liam explained it, it makes sense. The van is great. Not been far enough from the boat to have had to sleep in it but it is a great addition. Have a lovely weekend ❤
Liam is a wonderful speaker. So detailed! Every video is more exciting than the last. Love the “special signature “ you alll left. Lunch looked yummy. Hugs to all. See you next week ❤
He was great Mary. Glad you are enjoying. Loved making our mark in the concrete and Liam has since written Dexter’s name in too. Have a lovely weekend and take care ❤
Yeah Liam needs his own channel 🤭🤣Wow guys your new home is coming along nicely 😀👍🏾like the idea of your handprints- that’s it, it’s yours for life, you can’t sell it Ever 🤭🤣great video x take care of yourselves 🤗🥰🥰
He is great Jeannie. Such a natural. Excited how it is all coming together. The hand prints was Liam’s idea, he even wrote Dexter’s name too. Hope you are good ❤
So far so good, your boat is really starting to come together! This must be so exciting to watch the process first hand. Speaking of hands, how fun to have both of your handprints immortalized in concrete! 😎
Jay it has been great watching the whole process. We didn’t get to do that with our current boat. Liam’s idea to put our hands in the concrete. Such a good explanation from him too. Have a good evening ❤
Hi guys Boat taking shape now. Does it have more ballast than that in the bottom? Hope all is well with you all. Not best of week here, due to certain things. Anyway looking forward to the continuation of the build. Have a good weekend. X
Hey Bill. Definitely is taking shape. That is the total of the ballast. Very different to a lot of builders. Oh, hope you guys are ok. Have a good weekend ❤
Hi guys, a very interesting and informative vlog. It's really coming together. Can't wait to see more. Nice touch with your hand prints in the ballast. Take care, Bryan & Donna
Hey both. Glad you enjoyed. Definitely does feel like it is coming together. Liam is very knowledgeable. His idea re the hand prints too. He even wrote Dexter’s name. Hope you both have a lovely weekend ❤
I always wondered about the spray foam, that’s fascinating to see it put on. Liam was very good on camera! I can really see the advantage of the foam now as it is closed cell, so no moisture can get in and it will actually protect the steel from the effects of condensation as well as keeping you three all nice and warm. Very good ☮️
He was brilliant Crichie. Really good of him to send all that footage too. Can’t wait for the next stage of the build. Have a great weekend and take care ❤
Very interesting Liam was brilliant even I understood everything he was saying and yes he does deserve his own channel and I am really excited for the next stage of your new build have you got a name for your new boat yet I’m just curious lol hope you are all well love to you all and a big cuddle for Dexter have a good and safe week guys see you soon x
Hey Maureen. We were made up when he sent over the footage. He definitely should have his own channel. We can’t wait to share more of the build. It has been an incredible process so far. We are keeping the Morning Star name for our new boat too. Love and best wishes. ❤
This was great to see. I told Liam this week he should have his own channel after he sent me some videos. Sandwiches and cake from Chatsworth…..I’ll be asking for that next time I go down instead of taking it myself 🤣. Good to see Caroline and Pete make a cameo appearance too xx
This is Liam’s answer:-The boat builder manufacture builds the joinery using CNC machines. Each component has a calculated weight, which is consistent between all builds - because it uses the same footprint. Knowing these weights ahead of a build, allows the builder to know weight distribution between port and starboard. Knowing the weight also had a secondary benefit of knowing exactly how much weight to apply for the correct displacement. Exceptions to this come with customer consumables, however you can take a “ calculated guess” ie a wardrobe will have X amount of clothing storage; which means there will be X amount of weight applied in this zone. In knowing all the weights for each individual product; it takes away much of the guesswork. If a boat ballast needed to be adjusted, it can be done - although it’s very unlikely. Most often the ballast would be adjusted if there was a layout change or customer re modifications; but - like a car - Oakums sell a finished product and so it’s designed for the pro ❤
Thank you Anthony and Paul showing the different stages of built🙌🙌🙌 Liam is a champion 🎉 his passion is evidence and knowledge is deep. So glad Liam is taking good care of the iconic built. I wish Oakum gets many more orders after showcasing your new boat at Crick Boat Show. Very exciting to see how far it has gone. Cannot wait for the finished product!😊 will Liam and you all be popping champagne 🥂 at the finish? Do film that when you get the chance🫰🫶🫰🫶

Good afternoon guys! What a fantastic process you've shared with us. It would make sense to me that the insulation would also provide some sound deadening. Yes, I think Liam should start his own TH-cam channel however I think he should sport the nice wig he had on from the previous vlog! 😂 Seriously he really presented well and provided great content for you guys. Take care and have a lovely weekend ❤
Loved seeing Liam and his part of the video. I got a little emotional with the hands in the concrete. That is awesome. Liam is so sweet.
@@dorothydotson7154 oh no! Glad you are ok. Keep safe ❤️
@@anthonysmith-storey9247 Hopefully that's the closest incident of the tornado season for this spring. Too close for comfort.

I found the process fascinating considering I don’t own a boat but love watching waterway vlogs, especially yours! Stay safe and see you next week - and love to Dexter.
Thank you Glynnis. Been great for us too this time round to see the boat build from scratch. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤
Interior looks like a deep frozen passageway in Antarctica with ice on the walls 🙂
Will you have double or triple pane windows?
😂 Hope it doesn’t feel like that when we are aboard. It is going to be double glazed and the skylights are triple glazed. Should be nice and toasty. 😊. Have a lovely week ❤
Really interesting, we've seen this being done at Aintree
Loved seeing this footage Helen. Liam is very knowledgeable. Seen an Aintree boat today. Looked lovely. Have a great weekend ❤
This is so interesting, I’m glued 😊
Lucky having Liam to fom for you. All the jobs being done that no one really sees after.
He has been amazing Carol. Definitely good to see the process of the build. Hard to imagine all the work. Have a lovely weekend. ❤
Great to see the insulating process, Liam did a great job, can't wait to see next steps.
Loved to see the thermal imaging Umberto. Liam did well with the videos. The sandwiches were very welcome. Hope you have a nice weekend ❤
Can’t wait till Crick, the start of a new chapter. And see al the upgrades and changes. Enjoy this journey like I do. ❤
We can’t either. Crick will be very special for us this year. Have a lovely weekend ❤
The Oakums crew are brilliant. Looks to be a very enjoyable build process for all concerned. :-)
They are indeed David. Been a pleasure to work with. Great team and great boat. Can’t wait to see the interior fit out. Have a good weekend ❤
Hi Paul and Anthony looking great Liam did a great job on filming they should use it on a shop video I liked watching the foam expanding in the short time it’s looking great I would have liked to see it at crick but I just got back from the Philippines keep them coming thanks guys Grey work to you both and Liam cheers Barry Sydney Australia 🇦🇺

Glad you enjoyed Kathy. Liam was amazing and so knowledgeable. He definitely needs his own channel. Aww we love Pete and Caroline and are travelling with them to Crick. Been great company. Have a lovely weekend. ❤
Liam was great I didn't think I would enjoy watching but I really did the boat looks massive inside bit like Caroline bab 😊😊💓💓
Hey Pamela. He was brilliant. Such a dry topic made interesting. The boat did look massive. Those baps 😮. I could only eat half. Have a fab weekend ❤
Hi Paul & Anthony, how exciting and interesting. Have a fun week. Love from downunder ❤️❤️
Hey Katelyn. Glad you enjoyed. Liam did a great job of explaining. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤
Yes Liam should have a channel, I enjoyed the learning and he made it easy to understand. Thanks Liam, guys give Dex a hug from me💕
Really pleased you enjoyed this Clara. Liam did a fab job. Dexter is with us in the Lake District curled in front of the wood burner. Have a great weekend ❤
Fascinating stuff!! Oh yes, Liam is a natural in front of the camera. Nice shirt too! Thanks guys for keeping us updated xxx
He really is Carole. Great footage and explanation. Have a lovely weekend ❤
Liam’s fashion channel - love that shirt! Great detailed explanation of the process too!
He did a great job Caroline. Glad you are enjoying. Have a great weekend ❤
Thank you Liam for filming and sharing the process with all of us.
He did amazingly Greg. We were made up. Have a lovely weekend ❤
Great update guys and it’s fascinating how they apply the insulation. I’m sure it will keep you all warm during the winter months. Have a lovely weekend.
Thanks Mark. Great for us to see too. Liam did a great job at explaining. Have a nice weekend ❤
Very informative and Liam is very knowledgeable but i loved him more in the blond wig! ❤
😂. He was great fun to work with. That blonde wig 😂 ❤️
It’s always so good to hear a really committed professional talk about his/her area of expertise, well done for letting Liam speak for himself. My lovely Robin print arrived last week, I love it Paul, can’t wait to see it on the wall in my home.
He did a great job Joy. Definitely good to have a passionate expert share their knowledge. Paul is made up you got your print. Have a lovely weekend ❤
Thanks Sheryl. Yeah definitely a great way to insulate. Loved we got to put our forever mark in the concrete. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤

Thank you
Yet again, quite excited for you!
Liam is such a natural. The thermal camera was a fab touch. Those rolls! Way too much for me. Have a lovely weekend and take care ❤
Thanks guys for this great update and yes I think Liam is a really good presenter and should have his own channel. I hope that you three are doing well. Have a great weekend. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thanks Stevie. It is really taking shape now. Liam was great, so knowledgeable. Have a lovely weekend ❤
WOW, it is so amazing to see how your boat is being made & the progress of the build! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Liam did a great job with the video too! Hmmm, wonder if this could be a new sideline for his boat building business? Looking forward to the next boat build update. 😉Have a terrific weekend! Take care 💕🇨🇦 PS…. Belly rubs for Dexter 🐾😘
Thanks Jan. Great for us as we didn’t get to see all this last time. Liam has been great at sharing content too. Very knowledgeable. He definitely could have his own channel. Have a lovely weekend and take care ❤
Nice one lads looking good he shud av a channel he took to it like a boat to water din he .Hows Dexter getting on have a top week lads cCheers 🙂🐶🦆✌️
That was fascinating. A lovely personal touch with the hand prints.
Thanks Alan. The hand print was Liam’s idea. Loved it. Have a good weekend ❤
Awsome guys ,so interesting 👍 xx
Thanks Su. Been great for us to see the process more this time round. Have a lovely weekend and nice evening ❤
Great to see the boat build coming along and hopefully that spray foam will keep you warm 😊
It really has been fab watching the progress. Fingers crossed for the insulation 😊. Have a great weekend❤
Hi guy's hope you and Dexter well, boat coming along nicely, are you enjoying having the van
Thank you. Definitely taking shape. Love the van. Yet to sleep in it but great for days out. Have a lovely weekend ❤
Hi guys
Boat taking shape now.

It really is Dawn. Can’t wait. Have a good weekend ❤
Very interesting, thanks! I'd love to know the rationale for the poured concrete ballast, if you or anyone else knows.
Most often the ballast would be adjusted if there was a layout change or customer re modifications; but - like a car - Oakums sell a finished product and so it’s designed for the pro
❤
This was fantastic, simply beautiful work and Liam is a great presenter! Makes me want to move to the UK and live on a narrow boat
