I am a retired university music professor, French horn specialist, and sometimes recorder player. I love the fact that you are really a STUDENT of music. Keep up your videos. They are inspiring!
Keeping a rhythm is my weakness. I didn't realise it coming from string instruments, but when I started to learn the bodhran I found I was only in time with myself and not other instruments. I found metronomes were good, but I got a lot from recording myself and playing it back. During playing, I didn't notice how out of time I was, probably due to concentration, but listening to a played back recording, really highlighted my issues.
Cajon is a great instrument! With the brushes those rubber bands are used to adjust the fan of the brush for different textures. Mre fan brings higher pitches, less fan is more like a stick/mallet. You can also get a felt head kick pedal (like a reverse drummers kick pedal) that lets you use your foot for the bass sounds.
Never heard of that box drum. I think when you put the time in for practice it pays off. Us you have a really good sense of rhythm. I love drumming. But never learned more than a couple of rhythms. Very impressed. Well done 👏
You are fun to watch!
And cute as a bug!

The cajòn is an Afro musical instrument from Peru (19th century). It was brought to Europe in the second half of the 20th century.
Thank you TH-cam algorithm
Rhythm isn't easy. I occasionally play darabukas. I'm nae too bad, but rhythm definitely isn't "easy"!
Now I’ve gone and bought a used cajon 😂
Haha, hope you enjoy it! 🥁
Cajones...
Could you just stop getting me interested in musical instruments I don't really need but very much want?
