What couldn't Isiah Thomas do? Great hops, great passing, great athleticism, great jumper, great handles, outstanding defensively, the reasons he won titles in international, college and the NBA
My dad had this on VHS when I was a kid and I loved watching Isiah. Still my favorite player.

I am so happy they posted this. Young people can SEE HOW SPECIAL ISIAH WAS. I am from Chicago and I watched Isiah play since sophmore year of High School. He has always been SPECIAL. He would fit in just fine in this era of Basketball. I hate that people never got to see him playing SUMMER League Pro AM tournaments. He was a serious Showboat and use to EMBARRASS guys with his dribbling skills. He had serious handles and was bigger and stronger than he looks on TV. Standing next to MUCH TALLER NBA players made him look small BUT when you stood next to him you would be like DAMN HE NOT THAT SMALL.
@@713anand That's why Magic flipped on Isiah during the 88 Finals. He was sick and tired of Isiah outplaying on the biggest stage. How can "Big Bro" be the best when Lil Bro was showing him up?
I genuinely think this is in part why he was kept off of the Dream Team. Barcelona was the NBA’s, David Faulk’s, and other advertisers stage to introduce Michael Jordan and the league to the world and in that environment with other greats as teammates Isiah would’ve stolen the show and taken shine away from Jordan.
@@mobetta2092 it was bad timing for Isiah. The pistons and isiah had a terrible reputation being physical and hurting players and the dream team was right after the pistons walked off the court after the bulls beat them. In reality, the Olympic team didnt need him. They were winning gold either way and the other guys (particularly jordan and pippen) didnt want to play with him or hang out with him for 2 weeks overseas. Most of the time the guys were just hanging out, playing cards and golf. Why hang with someone they didnt like.
@@MrAitraining you're a dumbass, the league was already tough, wtf are you even talking about. Watch any playoff series in the early 80's BEFORE THE BAD BOYS.
Great video. You missed the shot he made over Ralph Sampson. I was in Germany in 1986 and watch the all-star game over and over and that was the shot I was looking for in your video :0.
Imagine if Isiah Thomas walked into the NBA and had this talent waiting for him. Jabbar-greatest ever in NCAA and NBA history. McAdoo-3 time scoring champ, MVP. Chones-took college team to NCAA Finals. Haywood-Olympic and college superstar, ABA ROY and MVP and NBA superstar. Butch Lee-College POY, Final Four MOP, Olympic legend, NCAA champion and he was the 12th Man on the Lakers. Then he later got No.1 overall picks Worthy and Mychal Thompson, NCAA champion Billy Thompson, NBA champion and All Star Maurice Lucas and NBA champion All Star Mitch Kupchak. Magic's roster was always better, but skills wise head to head, he was nowhere near the player Isiah Thomas was. Isiah better defender, ball handler, created his own shot and tougher physically. Isiah was the Pistons go to player from Day 1. Magic became the Lakers go to start in 1987, his 8th year.
I think this was a key All star game and MVP for Zeke. It put him in that stratosphere and the Pistons were on the climb as well. Not known as Bad Boys as of yet but Thomas definitely let it be known he’s up there And was one of the best
@@Maal7432Stockton was arguably the best pure point guard of all time. I love Isiah. But to say Stockton shouldn’t have been on that team is ridiculous.
@@malvolio01 Prime Stockton vs Prime Isiah is not even close. Isiah could take over a game. Stockton just did pick & roll with Malone. Isiah gave up scoring to run the team differently. He wanted to win first. When it was all star game time he was a real highlight reel.
The ONLY reason why Isiah is not my favorite player of all time is that I grew up a Knicks fan. So I gotta go with 1. Ewing 2. Thomas then 3. Grant Hill.
You see how all of those guys actually played basketball in an all-star game? There's a sense of professionalism that goes along with playing or doing anything at a high level... imagine a doctor, lawyer, plumber, or any blue collar worker being unprofessional like those guys are now -- it's sickening....so I have no patience for the guys now, they are a sorry excuse for professionals.
Iverson is a legend but I'll take Isiah Thomas ahead of him all day any day no questions asked. Isiah beat all those legends in that era man 😂. The Smiling Assassin lol they all still bitter but you see he's still smiling.

The best little man to ever lace em' up. People have no idea just how unreal he was!!
He's kind of the prototype for all the dominant small guards. He could give you 30+ points just as easy as he could give you 20 and 10.

Zeke was special.. Really really special..
Watched this game when I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
That put back dunk on magic when Bird miss was clean af and I did not expect that he really could do everything 2nd best pg ever
Natsu .D. Uzamaki 💯💯 1st ever (imo)

Bad boys for life... 6”0 Isaiah , taking then all on!
What I love about this is that they treated this like a playoff...
A real nba all star game.
where is the clip when he shot over Ralph Sampson baseline? That was the best shot 6'1 over 7'4 :)

NBA championships in the 80's. Magic 5. Bird 3. Dr. J 1. Isiah 1. MJ = 0.
