Austria was a fair great power in 1914. The issue was geopolitics. To loose the russian alliance and Italian betrayal turned to be fatal. After 1919, many austrians promoted what became the super-K u K aka League of Nation then EEC then European Union. Otto von Habsburg was in European parliament. A kind of meta-morphosis.
If Saint Germain was fairer, Austria could have kept South Tyrol (excluding Trentino) and at least the southern Sudetenland as it is portrayed here (full Sudetenland would have been some incredible 'border gore'). But the past is in the past, and the current borders are fine the way they are. There's no significant german-speaking minority in Czechia anymore, and South Tyroleans have a great deal of autonomy within Italy. No more wars, no more revanchism, no more hate. Europe is facing far more significant problems these days than such little territorial squabbles.

It's the map of the Austrian provinces of Austria-Hungary except I added the southern Sudetenland and removed Istria and some provinces that belonged to Hungary later on so it's more recognizable
@@Ptoly as an italian just a mistake the Tyrol part, you should have added only the german part of South Tyrol, Südtirol, alto adige. And I belive the sudetenland has more sense fully then Slovenia.
@@AshleyGravesreal You misunderstood that, these are not the German-speaking areas but the Austrian duchies of Triol Styria Carinthia Upper and Lower Austria Parts of today's Slovenia also belonged to Carinthia and Styria However, Burgenland, which is now part of Austria, is not on the map here The Sudetenland is part of the Bohemian Crown
