    They stayed friends so long because there weren't any opportunities to scam the group, before... This was the first in-person Fanfest in several years. It was the perfect opportunity. Wouldn't shock me if those two were scamming people IRL in the mean time.

    So my group of friends also got screwed over by Sume(He was known as Sumo back then or Kartel Baruha). The FC leader and some of the guildies knew him from Coil and when I met him was around the 2nd branch of the Alexander raid release. We had dated for almost a yr and Fanfest 2016 was the event we thought we were going to have a great time at. He boasted about owning a company and he had lots of money, he said he had reserved a suite at the hotel that the convention was going to be held at. He also said he was going to pay for a guildmates ticket and airline ticket so that he could join up with everyone at the FC that was going.
    Well the day of that people were starting to get ready to fly out to Vegas and the FC leader gets a call from the guildie at like 3 or 4am saying that there is no ticket reservation at the airport and Sumo was not replying. So then the guild leader woke me up to try and contact Sumo since I had his phone number, he had blocked my number and Facebook and he did the same to the majority of the other people from the guild, I guess he forgot who all was a part of the guild because the people who didn't get blocked could see his profile but we couldn't.
    So no airline ticket made us wonder if theres even a hotel reservation, guess what? There wasn't. FC leader was freaking out and I'm pretty much in shock, since the night before he kept saying how excited he was to finally meet and how much fun Vegas is gonna be. So FC had to get 2 rooms for lodging so that like 7-8ppl had a place to sleep which cost her $1200 and she also bought a airline ticket for the guildie who had his family drive him like 1hr to the airport. The dude disappeared and we never saw him again until a friend just msg'd me about this vid. I was a little skeptical but the moment I heard his voice from the stream, he's def the same guy who pulled this shady crap at 2016 Fanfest.
    He didn't ask for money(that I know of) but almost everyone in our guild group got tickets, I'm not sure if we were like a test run to see if he could do it or if he just gets enjoyment out of lying to people like he did.

She was totally rational and told everyone about it right away and he just kept digging his hole deeper and deeper until he one day blew up when they confronted him together and we never saw him again. Yuuniel Nuve (Yunni), Gilgamesh Aether: 16038915
    -> Ramuh Meteor: 40029366
    Kromix Nuvela (Sume), Gilgamesh Aether: 20578417
    -> Ramuh Meteor: 40029918
    -> Odin Light: 40028636
    -> Lich Light: 37117228
    All of these characters share the same character model as their mains, although not the same hairstyles were used, the faces are set the exact same way. Lodestone numbers don't change even with a name change, so making note of this would be a good idea.
    I can only paste lodestone numbers as TH-cam's algorithm will automatically delete this comment otherwise.
    Another character on that came up in the lodestone search for 'Kromix Nuvela' is a female Au'ra in Brynhildr Crystal: 42844328

      That's a great rule if you base all your interactions with other people on absolute distrust and never intend to have close/meaningful relationships. The actual truth is that there's no "rule" that will bring you perfect security AND perfect relationships. The best you can do is believe the people in your life, while still allowing yourself to look for red flags. The situation these folks in the video went through isn't their fault because they "broke the most important rule"; the situation was absolutely too good to be true, and it would have been better if they could realize that, but malicious people took advantage of them. It didn't happen in a vacuum. Bad people did a bad thing. You can and should set your own boundaries, and even clearly communicate with people about them, but trying to deal in absolutes will only drive people away.

I had my "best friend" of nearly 13 years end our friendship over a woman with no explanation that "best friend" completely ghosted me. It still fucks with me to this day and set the tone for my friendships going forward, but like Xeno said you fuckin learn from this stuff and learn to hopefully spot these types of people before a situation like this happens. Really glad you reacted to this so it gets out more and so people can be wary of these two and maybe see in their own friendships some huge red flags. For future reference for everyone, like 4 days after the lottery you are able to buy tickets, once you submit your payment you get QR code / print version of it and etc, I got my ticket on March 6 for example, I guess this will depend on the place the convention is made or the online retailer for tickets, but waiting for a ticket right before the fan fest on a digital world is very very fishy.
    This is a really unfortunate situation, but I highly recommend people to just handle the trip by themselves all they can, not depend on other to manage the trip and this way you have control of the situation (in every trip something always happens imagine just giving control to someone else so more things end up happening).

      Also, they clearly didn't consider the people they scammed friends, they were marks to them. They kept trying to milk the group over and over again, as was made apparent, were careful enough not to let them connect the dots and then cashed out with Fanfest. Admittedly, 1.5k for a 6 years worth of work integrating themselves into a group is beyond pitiful, but it's sociopaths.

    I don't think holding onto ticket info is shady, but I'm the mom friend in my group so I always hold the tickets and important information.
    Granted if asked to produce said information it is never a problem and is done when requested without any hurt feelings.

    Traveling with others you never met before in person is a big ordeal. When it comes tickets and stuff money wise never trust it unless you have some kind of actual proof not just words.
