    A recap of the HYW battle i fought last month between The English and Franco Scottish.
    The actual battle lasted 3 hours but i posted a shorter version with the most important and critical parts of the battle.
    The English fielded a strong center but their flanks looked very venerable something that the Franco Scottish aimed to exploit from the start of the game .
    Hope you will enjoy the video.

    Was really nice to see how the struggle on the english left affected the outcome of the whole battle.

    Excellent. I appreciate your very detailed tactical commentary.
    I also like the dynamic back-and-forth line of battle that these rules seem to encourage. I may have to try them one day 😊

    Great battle. The English left went from the weak point to the focus of their victory.

      Thank you my friend glad you enjoyed the report! Yes it was unexpected. The turning point was the shooting phase and the English Longbowmen taking advantage of their Mass Archery rule breaking the fist unit of French Men at Arms. Then the second unit was doomed. Also the isolated Schiltron unit was very slow to do something against the fast Longbows and English Mounted Knights. Thank you for watching my friend!

    Great battle report. Perhaps place the dice somewhere than in center of table top in order to preserve the asthetic and allow viewer a more immersive experience.

      Thank you dear Joe!!yes maybe I need to purchase or make a dice 🎲 container to roll in and avoid rolling along the table..you have a good point there. Thank you for watching my friend!

    Good game. I can't understand why the French didn't position their cavalry better. Knowing how important and powerful that unit is makes positioning it very important to the French player. To move the crossbowmen to block off the gap that allows the cavalry to move/ charge was poor to say the least.

    • @MedievalWargamer
      @MedievalWargamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Dear Rune! Glad you enjoyed the game.. you have a very good point but because I was playing Solo and SWORDPOINT rules are not the best to accommodate Solo gaming I deployed randomly using a die Roll.. 😂😂😂(Right -left-center) Also the problem with the French mounted knights is that they are impetuous and using the SWORDPOINT HYW supplement rule of Arrogant Pride ( give a +1 modifier to morale roll in order to hold the French and not charge) scared me that they will attack unsupported a very coherent English line (line of battle rule makes coherent lines very strong regardless of the unit quality) in the other hand the Longbowmen were shooting at the slow moving Schiltrons with ease and I had to move the crossbows in order to threaten them and fire back.. but as you correctly mention this move in combination with the main line moving forward blocked my Mounted Charge! I believe my biggest mistake was in the Franco Scottish right flank. I should not have moved and isolated the Schiltron. The Schiltrons are very slow moving and work well together not as an isolated entity..i think there is where the Franco Scottish lost the Battle. But in the other hand i was not excepting the two French units of MAA to break so easily from longbow fire.Thank you for watching my friend and for your great comment!

      @@MedievalWargamer I've played games with units subject to similar rules and I used the same concept to check them in case they failed and would be forced to be drawn out by charging too soon so your answer makes sense. You are going to laugh now because I must say, I was enjoying the battle so much that I didn't realize it was a solo game until the end! I was too busy taking in the beautifully painted miniatures and the details of the battle. Your narration was excellent and made the game turns seem to flow by effortlessly. What line of miniatures did you use?

    Hello Nik, enjoyed your report on the Swordpoint rules as always. I have a question though. I have never seen a battle of yours on these rules when the French would have won. I am starting to suspect you in favouring the English ... Lol

    Awesome vid! How did you make the banners and clan heraldry for the Scots?

    • @MedievalWargamer
      @MedievalWargamer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Fraser! The banners and coat of arms on the shields I create many years now using PowerPoint pint to scale and then I just add highlights for dirt weathering etc…simpler heraldry like the cross if St Andrew on the shields I paint.
