      The stability drop in the middle of it is pretty bad and Austria or France (or both) could try to enforce a PU over you, but if you ally them first they get a truce when breaking that alliance and the CB goes away once the government stabilizes.

    I find it's generally doable to beat Genoa and lucca in the first war, they often are allied at the start my ideal Milan start is getting a claim on lucca from the estates and deccing em on 11-12

  • @drchaos2000
    @drchaos2000 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    if you the restart until things are nice kind of player... on day one when you summon the diet there is about a 30% chance you get a casus belli on genoa right at the start... that speeds thigns up significantly before genoa fills up with tradeleague minors or big allies, and genoa isnt only a great money maker and defensive position for you it unlocks most of the juicy mission tree early

  • @huginnmuninn2155
    @huginnmuninn2155 ปีที่แล้ว

    A day one war against Genoa is typically easy - they have no allies, you can often stackwipe their army (rng with a good merc stack tbf) and you can often get lucca or Savoy in on it.
    All you need is the estate mission, and Genoa is yours and the perm claims to help you along - And if you fail, just restart.
    Also, taking Istria from Venice lets you release Dalmatia which is a useful vassal and you need Istria for missions!

    I did 2 runs as military dictatorship Milan and Monarchy with House Sforza. I think if you want a more historically accurate run, definitely have a monarchy under Sforza. Although their dynasty was very short lived.

      It doesn't reduce the amount of crownland you get in total, so it doesn't actually do much. By the time you revoke (if you revoke it at all), you'll easily be at over 50 crownland just from seizing every once in a while.

    • @james01gr
      @james01gr 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lys_marathe problem with seizing is that is making weaker clergy and merchants. And increases the influence of nobility and in the long run it is very difficult to revoke that. For the first 50-70 years it works. But when you grow no. Even when you have extra land and you want to sell it to get money instead of getting loans, you make nobility even stronger as you cant seize the land back.

    • @lys_mara
      @lys_mara 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@james01gr I agree with that, but it's very easy to revoke unless you're playing a nation with crazy nobles influence modifiers. It falls off in usefullness later on in the game anyway, so by about mid-game, you'd probably want to revoke it regardless.

    dude. your strat involves Austria as an ally. Milian and Austria can curb stomp Venice basically no matter what allies it gets. you should open with reconquest litterally as soon as you get the allience. or after one month if you get it right away. that gives you tons of claims and actually uses your allice. just feed Austria literally any 1 province you need to.

    • @septianhari582
      @septianhari582 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The strategy is quite everywhere, but basically it will boils down to:
      - merc spam (and loan), I find hiring 5-10 over force limit is okay since you'll get PU with france anyway. Careful tho not to get more than 5 loan, or your PU france will get debuff like "onion only on name (-100 relation)
      - fight on good terrain, gascony with highland is good, try it.
      Rely on alliance is not always good, from my experience, portugal is a dead weight, but maybe your run say different things.

    • @ALittleMessi
      @ALittleMessi ปีที่แล้ว

      IMO the best way to deal with France is to cheese the event(guides are everywhere, Arumba was one of the first) and call an offensive war with either Burgundy, Aragon, Castile later on your own terms. You can still get the PU mission, or go for the chunking up France strategy which manages AE better

  • @cinnanyan
    @cinnanyan ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Going back to Monarchy might not be too bad, if you could get Naples and maybe Burgundy.
    Also, this is a good country for using mercenary ideas imo.

    • @ALittleMessi
      @ALittleMessi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It kind of sucks for Milan because on one hand cool government type(s), and the other you can easily get BI, Emperorship, Naples PU, and being monarchy for SP formation. It's the biggest struggle for me but I think being the boring monarchy just gets you so much more, but probably taking the Sforza version for a way better ruler

    So guys I have a quick question I once played as Milan and for some reason I decided to improve relations with the ottomans and they started their war with Venice as usual, to my surprise they returned my cores, now my question is what is the minimum positive relations you’d need for that to happen in every game also do you get any AE for it I take it my question will be beneficial to those who didn’t know this was possible

    Hawk, I don't understand why you always delete the horse at the beginning of the game. Even if you don't want it, AT LEAST keep it until after your first war, or consolidate during the war.
    You start with 10,000 manpower and 10 units, you delete 1 unit, you are deleting 5% of your manpower right there. And its worse with smaller nations.
    Late in the game, 1 unit doesn't matter, but at the very start manpower is the most important thing. More important than money in this game.

    • @lys_mara
      @lys_mara ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you disband a unit, the manpower being used by it returns to your manpower pool, unless they've taken a hit and haven't been reinforced.
      On a side note, expansion early game is super slow, so I'm not sure why manpower would be better than money. Money funds wars - it funds reinforcements, active units and mercs, forts - while running out of manpower just puts a higher strain on your economy and doesn't affect your war all that much unless it drags on, in which case 1k manpower won't last you that long.
