  • The repair of the tripod socket is relatively straight forward.
Canon part number for the socket: CB5-2639-000
This part was also successfully testet to fit inside a 1DsIII.
The 4 screw holes in the socket are not threaded, so better pre-thread them with the original screws before assembly.
    Thanks for watching!

this scares the shit out of me, every time i take something apart that should be easy something always strips or breaks off.
also no glue to put the rubber back on? how long did that hold up? Last thing, thanks for the video Im going to be attempting this soon and it helped a lot

Hi, thanks for your comment! I don't know for sure, but since the camera is built quite similar, there is a good chance that it will also work on a 1DxIII.

Canon told me I needed to replace the entire bottom plate. $150 shipped!

@@TFPrinceUPDATE! I received the plate and noticed it was replaceable so I called them back and got someone who was willing to help me out and do some digging. He found the correct part and seal. You do NOT have to disassemble. It’s just 8 screws. 4 for the cover plate and 4 for the socket. Took less than 5 minutes to fix.

@@frankporter2807Well, then you might have a different 1DXII. On mine the mounting holes for the replacement thread are hidden like you can see in the video.
But on the other side, I did not need any seal...
