What attracts me to Dr Taylor Swift is her humility. Despite everything she achieved in her life, she is one of the most humble celebrities in the world. I have seen her open her coffee shop concerts with "Hi! I'm Taylor", her biggest tour concerts with "Hi! I'm Taylor", award show lives (even Grammys) with "Hi! I'm Taylor" and today at this significant moment when she is receiving her honorary doctorate with "Hi! I'm Taylor". I am constantly amazed by this woman and her down to earth persona. Congratulations and best wishes for your future.

There are tons of musicians who would do this. Its very lucrative. Swift was paid 100 thousand dollars to give this speech. The speech itself was written by a professional speech writer. Politicians, actors, musicians all compete to give college commencement speeches because there is a lot of money in it.

Yes TS received the title Dr from NYU however TS did not receive this title the same way 99% of us would. Also google if TS received her Bachelor's and Masters. Yes TS DID work hard in her craft but she did not earn her honorary degree by passing exams, sacrificing her youth and mental health attending higher education 8 plus years like 99% of us do. Honorary Dr and PhD sound and share the same Dr spelling but they don't share the same weight.
She joked in a Vogue interview that she really wants to get a doctorate degree from NYU because Ed Sheeran received one from another University. NYU reached out to her, and yesterday she received the honorary title Dr. from NYU.
At the end of the day I hope she inspires her fans to study hard and take school seriously so that they can achieve an actual Doctorate, something that TS coveted but didn't do.

I have been a fan of Taylor for years (almost 15 years to be exact) and she has always inspired me to the best version of me. In fact, thanks to her and her music, i have been studying in the UK knowing that English isn’t my first language. I will be graduating this year with a Masters’ degree. I never thought that I would graduate the same year as her and here we are. Her speech was everything I needed to hear because she once again inspired me but also perfectly described what it’s like to grow up. She is a model and she has gracefully overcome every challenge that came her way while remaining kind, caring, talented and incredible 💜

No one is bullying her. She is a famous incredibly rich pop star. She lives a life few could imagine. I think she can handle a little criticism. She has a nice singing voice and is a attractive. She has used those traits well but there is nothing that special about her. Its customary to give the person who gives a commencement speech an honorary doctorate. Its just an empty title and she certainly didnt do anything to earn it.
