Hi Sara, thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I saw a friend of mine who crochets and she explained to me that after I attach the scarf to the hood I will continue all away around the hood with the pattern as you explained. I was over thinking it I guess. I like your tutorial and your pattern very much and I'm making this one in a turquoise for my daughter-in-law and will make more, I'm sure!
Thanks I don't crochet but this is so easy, I have written down everything and am definitely going to try it. I anticipate making mistakes but eventually will get the hang of it. So excited to start this project for friends and family.
I've been waiting for you to put this up. I went to Michaels the other day to get the Caron Cakes and the display was gone so I asked why they took it down and they said they didn't, someone came in and bought every single cake! So I called the next closest Michaels and they didn't have any either. Boy someone really loves that yarn!
I heard they discontinued some colors and it seems that Key Lime is one of them. However, they are launching some new, very beautiful combos! keep posted :)
I know what you mean, were we live we only have 2 Michaels (none near) both are an hour away in 2 different directions and they are always running out But this brand does really have some nice colors, when they have it in
Thank you so much for this video. Just finished one and I'm on love with it. I will be making a bunch for xmas gifts. Again thank you and please keep doing tutorials. If I can make a recommendation I would love to see a tutorial for list in time shawl or the 6 day blanket. Thanks again.
Hi Sara. On the good part it looks like one end is straight and the other is round. I have round on both ends. How do you make the good look tight. Thank you MaryHaynes
Your tutorial is very descriptive and easy to understand. I love the pattern and I'm working on one right now! :) I do have a question, though. Would this look as nice if you did a double crochet throughout instead of the half double, single, half double pattern?
Sara, I love your video! However, I still need a printed pattern and have had no success by accessing the poshpoochdesigns web site....any recommendations for a link so I can get going on this scoodie asap? I'm dying to make this for several friends for Christmas. Love your design! Thanks, Karen
You can find the Pattern in a PDF form in my Craftsy shop at this LINK: www.craftsy.com/crocheting/patterns/scoodie-hooded-scarf-with-pockets-/249317 or You can "copy and Paste" the pattern from my blog at the link above.
I know this is an old video, but I've just found it and I've got my hood all finished! Now I'm working on my scarf portion, and I was wondering instead of 60-80 chains for one end of the scarf could I increase it to any number of chains? I'm making it for a older friend of mine and I want her to be able to really wrap up in this. Thanks ahead of time
Hi Sara. I just started the hood. Can you tell me how many inches yours is top to bottom? I started with 27 chains but yours looks longer than mine. It may just be the camera angle but I want to be sure in case I need to change hooks. I crochet rather tightly. Thank you!
I've made the Scoodie out of Caron Simply Soft in Turquoise which wouldn't have been my first choice, but Joann's or Michaels didn't have the Caron Cakes you suggested. I too found your tutorial a bit confusing as I didn't know which loop to use so some rows showed a ridge at the top of the hood which kind of looked neat, but I discovered that wasn't the loop I was supposed to be using. I made the Scoodie for my daughter-in-law, and will be mailing it to her today. I have pictures, but don't know how to add them to this comment. Any suggestions how to add them if you'd like to see it, please let me know.
Hi, Sara! I have a few questions: First: Once you have crocheted the hdc and done the ch 1, do you turn your work and crochet back into the last stitches worked or do you keep going around in circles? Second: I have crocheted 37 chains and my count is 74 dc and sc total. Is this correct? Third: Due to the fact that my yarn is thinner the measurement of the back of my work is aproximately 9". I think this is a bit small for an adult, could you tell me if, I make my foundation of 47 instead of 37 and I follow the pattern the same way you describe it, will it end up the same? or do I have to make any changes? I would appreciate very much if you could help me with these questions. Thank you in advance Greetings from Mexico City Maricruz
what are the measurements from front to back for example from the forehead to the back of the hoodie? I'm using a thicker yarn and it's built up pretty quick I've only gotten about 12 or 13 rows but it seems pretty big for the Youth pattern if I did the 25 rows it would be super big
Hi Sara, I posted the pictures on your facebook page that you gave me below a few weeks ago, and haven't seen them or heard that you received them. Where do they show up? Thank you.
Hi Sara, I am in the process of making your Scoodie watching the tutorial, but I'm a bit confused. I see how you attach the hood to the scarf portion and go all the way across and make the second part of the scarf however many chains we want it either 60 or 80, but I wondered how you work on both ends of the scarf portions? Do you go back and forth on the bottom of the hood to get to the other side and for how many rows? I wondered if anyone else had that same thought? It appears that the scarf portions go in a different direction too! You say the first time how to attach it, but don't show it in detail, or maybe I'm overthinking it. Thank you in advance for your response.
I am not really sure what you mean. The Scarf portion is worked back and forth in rows. You might try looking at the written pattern. The Link is in the notes under the video. That might explain it better.
Sara Love your pattern, I have a question. Can you demostrad your work on the other size of the table. Will be much easier to follow your instructions. Can you do that Please. Thank you very much. Happy Holidays.
@@SaraSach when I clicked the link it took me to your webpage but finding the Scoodie is a bit difficult.....still haven't found it and still searching. I love your pattern for this Scoodie, especially since it has pockets! 😊💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
In the written pattern if you chain 27, 1hd in 2nd from hook then 1hd in next 23 then 2 in 25th chain, it leaves a chain empty on the end. Is this correct?
- Starting with the hood, Ch 27(37) 1 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 hdc in the next 23(33) chs, 2 hdc in the 25th ch, turning working down the opposite side of the ch, 2 hdc in the 1st ch, 25(35) hdc, ch 1 turn. (54, 74 hdc)
Ruby I enjoy your tutorials but this one at the beggining is a little bit confuse. You said made a chain of 27 stitches and worked I did not understand. Could you explain better? Thanks.

You know what? Caron Big Cakes are 10.5oz just about the exact amount of yarn, in acrylic for those allergic to wool. 😀

Would you say this pattern would be good for a beginner crochetter?
This not a beginner pattern, but it is a easy pattern. It does not have any hard stitches or techniques.

If you are using a thicker yarn you will need to do less rows. Youth - 18 -19 inches (Fitted Hood)
Adult - 20 - 22 inches (Slouchy Hood)
Thank you.

Hi Sarah I love your videos was wondering if this could be made with a chunky yarn and what would I have to change to make it work
Kathleen Boldorff I have not made it with a chunky yarn, so I don’t have that answer. I would probably measure as I go and see how it measures out.

In the written pattern if you chain 27, 1hd in 2nd from hook then 1hd in next 23 then 2 in 25th chain, it leaves a chain empty on the end. Is this correct?
- Starting with the hood, Ch 27(37) 1 hdc in the 2nd ch
from the hook, 1 hdc in the next 23(33) chs, 2 hdc in the 25th ch,
turning working down the opposite side of the ch,
2 hdc in the 1st ch, 25(35) hdc, ch 1 turn. (54, 74 hdc)
Thanks for this pattern Do you have any others that you also use this brand of yarn?
I am actually working another design using this yarn, right now. Should be ready in a couple of weeks.
I really love this pattern! Question though, if I didn't want it pointy in the back, would I just increase more going around that part?
I would think if you wanted it more rounded, you could add a few more increase stitches to smooth it out some.
Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try that then, thanks!

My scarf in the back of the hoodie is puckering (or flare out) is out suppose to do that? My stitches aren't to tight.
No, it should not be puckering or flaring out. Usually it happens when you stitch too tight, so you maybe you added some extra stitches.
