Just knew someone had this out there....j j martin ..you are brilliant... you have no idea what this means to see... thank you so much... Love BUDDY RICH ❤
Great find, only seen Willowcrest & Mellow tone before from that concert, great to see new content even with the sound problems buddy still gives amazing performance. What a band that was his Killer force and Machine Wow! Thanks for the upload❤
Buddy has the same killer (force) look on his face that he had at Northsea Holland July ‘78. This brings me back to when I saw them live so many times. I can’t believe Buddy is gone now almost 4 decades.
he had chops like that-gets off the BR band, puts the horn in the case and goes and gets a career in computer tech...WTH??? He hasn't touched the horn since '79
evidently, there was a problem with the sound set up which was why buddy's reaction to it was the way it was. a great find, though.do you have any more footage of this concert?where was this?
To have feedback issues like that with a big band... They must have had it blisteringly loud out front. Hope they got what they deserved from Buddy. You look at live videos from London or Copenhagen and they're always well mixed and totally together sounding as far back as the '50s and '60s. Interesting, huh? At the beginning of the second chart, willowcrest, Buddy is definitely in pissed mode. By the end of the chart, the band seems to have cheered him up a bit. They're playing their butts off.
SETLIST (I'm not starting at the beginning because the recording repeats for some reason) 19:27 Time Out 26:32 Willowcrest 31:33 Funk City Ola 36:57 Mellow Tone 42:40 Not a song but that stick recovery man 44:20 Machine
This, Band most be high on oats and proteins.. Playing this tight. Actually I heard they had to eat Matzos and The Eucharist before the show..Then got Blessed and Amens..

Awesome! I've only seen a couple of tunes from this set, so it's great to hear and see the whole thing. Nice!

Saw the Buddy Rich Big Band in 1977, 1978 and 1986. All great concerts :D

Along with Buddy, Chuck Schmidt and Steve Marcus anyone know who else is in this band?
Mark Ohlsen asst. lead trumpet
And who was that 2nd Tenor player? Killer sound, burning time feel, great solo!
Buddy always had smokin’ bands whether he realized it or not!
Gary Pribek
Thanks much. Great player!
Look in buddy’s face during willow crest says” I know I’m the best “
evidently, there was a problem with the sound set up which was why buddy's reaction to it was the way it was.

I’m guessing late 70s as Buddy is playing Ludwig Drums and we have a young Steve Marcus
Absolute solid gold treasure here. With all its production issues, really choice playing going on.
Mike McGovern

I’m sure the sound was fine in the house except for the occasional feedback this seems just like a typical bad soundboard recording.
Was that Tom Harrell?
John Marshall
John Marshall
Buddy does not look happy.
Not his tempo
Side handles 😬
Ridiculous drummer
