I stack only from AMPEX and have since 2014 I won't buy anywhere else just my choice. Over the years I've done ok, but I did not stack early on meaning I bought what I thought was a cool design and paid premium. Now I just go for the weight and best price.

I got an interesting Silver Eagle yesterday. It pings the correct frequency, but it is a very short ring. I still have to fully authenticate it, but I have heard of silver coins giving short or no rings when struck. Especially if they have internal cracks.
Watch out for SD Bullion. Called after my first order and asked why I wasn't offered my first purchase at spot which they advertise. The cust rep was rude and condescending. Will not buy from them ever again,

I have a Buffalo round that has the correct weight but thuds…literally no ping at all. How is that possible?

Finger method doesn't work on smaller coins that aren't as heavy, you can't hit them hard enough to hear them well enough, so you need a pocket pinger. Works fine on dollars, but still not as clear as a pocket pinger
How to test things like the silvertown rectangles? I purchased some directly from silvertown. And at many times written to them about Facebook ads selling silvertown rectangles at $10 each which has to be a scam. They told me as soon as they pull one down two more pop up. So I would only buy it directly from the silvertown mint. A way of testing those would be nice.

Are graded morgan dollars from NGC or PCGS a good investment? Do the values on the graded morgans increase? Would it be best to own some graded Morgan's or would it be best to invest that money into silver eagles or something? Thanks for all opinions, just curious.
To me rounds are best and when it comes to sovereigns I choose maples as premiums are lower.
Probably not if you are buying at "retail." If you know what you are buying and know "the market" and are paying under its value then maybe. But you don't know what the future will bring. It would be pure speculation. But if you enjoy it and can afford it then spend your money how you see fit. But I wouldn't do it thinking I'll make out when I sell. Numismatics are for "collectors" and speculators, not your average Joe. Again, unless it pleases you, or your honey.

I'm surprised the youtube coin folks haven't said anything about the NGC securing a restraining order and preliminary injunction. Really need to look at coins even if graded.
The next thing is the US Mint is instituting a "wait room" when popular products go on sale. Of course there are subscriptions, but they also stated that if you "camp out" in the wait room it doesn't mean you're first. The order is random up until noon eastern when coins usually go on sale.

Just curious, is the ping test affected by altitude/air pressure? Obviously it must be, but have you ever tried pinging it inside something like a vacuum chamber (at various pressures)?
No. Not enough to make it inaccurate. Of course it wouldn't work in a vacuum.
Please explain to me how this test in a vacuum chamber would work. Sound doesn't travel in a vacuum. Second, how is he getting a coin in and the phone and striking said coin?
My silver eagles have the right ping and don’t stick to magnets but some measure in between 3.1 to 3.3 but never pas 3.3, Are they fake 😅
I always test for fake silver with a Platinum Test kit. Platinum is often used to counterfeit silver since it is so shiny!! Watch out for Plat!

No. Not general circulation coins. There may be special issued 90% silver "commemorative", or from a mint set, tho. Compare with regular post 64 quarter and you'll see the copper in the edge like regular "clad" non-silver coins.
Thanks for app recommendation i was going nuts tryin to figure out if these are fake. I have 2 roaring lion 1 oz silver coins i swear are fake from sd bullion they sound like pocket change when ping test is done no ring at all barely. So im gonns see about a refund the weight is under 1 oz also. I thought my eagle were fake cuz they weigh 26 grams and it says on google should be 31 grams no less or its fake but they passed this apps ping test so im even more confused now 😅
