Holy crap!!! Where is this overly amazing Darkness coming from? That song was amazing! Justin is back to his demon singing ways and the music is just fantastic. Open Fire and Barbarian alone have already been better than their past two albums (not saying they were bad but they weren't overly amazing) and this sounds like this will be their best album since their debut. Go Darkness!
Agreed. One Way Ticket was awesome but nothing compares to Permission To Land - imo it has been the best album of the whole century alongside with Stiff Upper Lip by AC/DC and Runnin' Wild by Airbourne
I love it! The Darkness have to be one of my top favourite bands, really. It's as if Thin Lizzy, AC/DC and Queen had a three way and The Darkness is the tearaway bastard child of that crazy night!
Ahhhhhh...... this album is like a reminiscence about how i feel in love with The Darkness for the first time. Catchy Riff, Eargasm Solo, and Justin soaring vocal.....
Absolutely LOVE IT! How have I gone almost a month without hearing about this?! Like The Cult and Airborne shoved in a blender and topped with a metric shit-ton of Darkness awesome! This album is going to be amazing.
I hear foxy Shazam's lead singer in here. It's a duet, that's why people are getting confused about Justin's voice. Awesome song. Can't wait to hear the album!
This is the best belated birthday present for me. The Darkness uploaded this on my birthday. I have loved them sense "I Believe in a Thing Called Love". You guys always kick ass!! \m/
Awesome sauce! Some people never listened to Hot Leg then? It's clearly Justin using one of a number of different style anges he's capable of. He's just growling it out this time because it was obviously felt that it better suited this particular song\subject matter this time. Other tracks off the new album are different. Really...it's no biggy. Just makes me smile though that you get the metal dinosaur trolls always banging on about his 'over-the-top gymnastic falsetto' on media sites, and yet when he does show another side with this...people are now moaning where's his usual style gone! Sheez.
For some people no matter what The Darkness do they'll just never like them. They made up their minds a long time ago and will continuously spread some hate. So in the end it doesn't really matter. If they keep making music coming from a good place they'll always have people on their shows, buying albums and t-shirts and simply having a good time.
Sofia Mendonça Absolutely!...and I'm one of 'em. Been with 'em since 2003 and I ain't goin' anywhere. Personally, I honestly prefer a select following to mass appeal for this band. Didn't enjoy a sold out Wembley crowd if I'm honest, but I loved the Shepherd's Bush\Apollo\Electric Ballroom vibe so much more. As you say, the haters will jump on anything, regardless. If it was another PTL or even Hot Cakes, then they'd be 'stale and predictable'. Others even said Hot Cakes was too 'acoustic and light'. Now we have a much rawer balls-out sound and, no surprise, that's no good for them either. I say Fook 'em. I don't want them trolls liking what I'm enjoying here now anyway. If they did, then something would be wrong. I love all of their back catalogue, but I have to admit that I've taken to the first 2 tracks off of 'Last of Our Kind' quicker than I did for Hot Cakes.
Pen Fold I don't have any problem with people not enjoying a band, a book or anything for that matter, but these days it seems that in order to dislike something you need to HATE IT too and probably be rude and offensive towards who don't share the same taste. Like if you scream your hate becomes more validated. That's what really annoys me, it's such a waste of energy.
Anyone who thinks this is new vocal territory for Mr Hawkins I think must have missed the hot leg CD cuz I think it's right up that alley.....which is awesome!!!! Either way its a great tune.
An interesting different style of vocals on some parts of this song make me wonder what the rest of the album is going to be like. I am genuinely excited been a fan rite from the start, looking forward to seeing a live show soon
Heard this for the first time yesterday morning on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show (BBC Radio 2), whilst driving in to work. I cranked it right up, and it decided for me right there that i love it! Lol! Great tune to drive fast to! I picked-up almost straight away on the Cult/She Sells Sanctuary influence, but hey, is that a bad thing? Hell NO!! Y'know, i may just buy this album. This bodes well. I'm enjoying the drumming of Emily Dolan-Davies too (although sadly, Emily has since moved on to pastures new, making way for Rufus 'son-of-Roger' Taylor to fulfill drumming duties for the forseeable future). Always enjoyed the output of this band, and this sounds like The Darkness have come-of-age, maybe. If that is the case, the guys are sounding pretty damn good for it. Nice to have 'em back... \m/ (:o)
He sings like this all the time, but the radio never plays those songs. Get all their past albums. Off the top of my mind I can think of ths song "Is IT Just Me" give that one a go, it was off their first one I think.
It's wonderfully performed (try to sing it... is really hard!) and surely a GREAT live track. After 3 strong beers. And the right rock girl beside. And a couple of crazy friends along. This is the winning reply to "Everybody have a good time". Is not the groundbreaking track you want in a decade, but C'MON, we're lucky enough to have again a Darkness album!
But what's exactly a groundbreaking track? Isn't that something that takes time to evaluate and then is collectively seen as such? No sneer, honest question:)
Sofia Mendonça Something really different from what you already heard, but can tingle some mass common chord. "I believe in a thing called love" was a groundbreaking track, as much as Bohemian Rhapsody was too. "Open Fire" is something you alredy -know-.
Gaspare Burgio But isn't that still subjective? "I believe in a things called love" was played a lot for a long time before it got big. But maybe I'm just mixing what a successful song is with a "groundbreaking" one.
Interesting to hear Justin's vocal range. Never heard him like this before. I like it.
Sounds like The Cult meets Motley Crue. I think I'm in love! I've loved The Darkness for years. They just keep getting better!
Sure, but The Cult and Motley are gods on Earth. They are of another planet.
Possibly the Most Splendid DARKNESS song in Many a moon! Yes a touch of the Cult.. and a nice steady vocal from JH.. a perfect combination!
Thank you for hearing what I am witnessing . They got the vibe of 'fire woman'. It's a good homage.
This is one of my GOAT songs. I’m either listening to it or singing it at almost any moment in the day.
Oui, absolument parfait 👌
Holy crap!!! Where is this overly amazing Darkness coming from? That song was amazing! Justin is back to his demon singing ways and the music is just fantastic. Agreed. One Way Ticket was awesome but nothing compares to Permission To Land - imo it has been the best album of the whole century alongside with Stiff Upper Lip by AC/DC and Runnin' Wild by Airbourne
Voimis ATHX Some damn good taste in music there.
I liked Hot Cakes A LOT!
Joshua Meye Its about time!! These new songs are *awesome*!! Filled with energy, classic rock, catchy, uplifting..just brilliant.
Voimis ATHX I think Hot Leg had some really good shit on par with Permission to Land
I love it! The Darkness have to be one of my top favourite bands, really. It's as if Thin Lizzy, AC/DC and Queen had a three way and The Darkness is the tearaway bastard child of that crazy night!
Amen to that, Bro!
BurnBabyBurn! I second that!
Alan Curran completely agree its very Cult has that atmospheric lead which I love its one of their best songs I think, back with a bang
Alan Curran Funny you should mention Queen, since Rufus Taylor is supposed to be drumming for The Darkness now.
Also in hear The Quo in their tunes! Brilliant band, especially LIVE just awesome 😎
I'm a metal head. This sounds old school. i dig it
One of the best songs and one of the best bands I have heard in a long time.
I thought this was The Cult when I first heard it. What a damn good track, and a return to form!
Its The Cult and Motley Crue slammed into one....and I fucking love it. More of this please Darkness....bring it on.
Saw someone mention this song on Justins TH-cam channel.
Justin Hawkins rides again
This song fuckin ROCKS
Sounds really like The Cult in the mixer with Mötley Crue. Never expected it from the Darkness... keep making this great stuff guysss
Ahhhhhh...... this album is like a reminiscence about how i feel in love with The Darkness for the first time.
Catchy Riff, Eargasm Solo, and Justin soaring vocal.....
Who's selling the sanctuary then?
That was my very first thought as well.
i agree, very cultish.
James Haskell haha i think its safe to say we all wanted some sanctuary
jason hutchinson brilliant man
She Sells Sanctuary.
Best

(In my opinion)
Man these two new songs have me fucking hooked. Hopefully the whole album is as good.
What's the other song?
I've been waiting from something like this since Permission to Land. I love the Cult/Hot Leg vibe!
I don't bloody care what anybody says - this is the best Cult record for years.
holy crap good music in the 21st century. about time this is rock n roll
By far the best The Darkness song
perfection
Absolutely LOVE IT! How have I gone almost a month without hearing about this?! Like The Cult and Airborne shoved in a blender and topped with a metric shit-ton of Darkness awesome!
This album is going to be amazing.
The new drummer is selling sanctuary, and I'm buying it on vinyl.
OMG this song fucking rocks! It's punky kind of like Get Your Hands Off My Woman mixed with Hot Leg style vocals. The chorus is pretty catchy too.
Sounds great here the voice of Justin. Also, the track is so good. Keep Going like this.
Listened to this song for the first time in a couple years...now IT'S STUCK IN MY BRAIN!!!
These guy really seem to enjoy what they do. Great music.
This is definitely shaping up to be the best darkness album since Permission to land, can't wait! Really like justin's vocal's on this one.
Great song. Justin has an amazing vocal range. Im really hoping this album is as varied as the first two songs I've heard.
Can't. Stop. Listening.
I hear foxy Shazam's lead singer in here. It's a duet, that's why people are getting confused about Justin's voice. Awesome song. Can't wait to hear the album!
kurt stacey
There's no Foxy.
Adampullae sounds just like him for a sec at the first. Can't wait for this and a new foxy Shazam hopefully soon.
kurt stacey no new foxy :( they are on hiatus
Boo! Church of rock and roll is a sick album.
Just keeps getting better and better! Every song that comes out is a new favorite. The Darkness best band in ages!!
The darkness meets the cult, love it.
Awesome! Got my pre-order in, can't wait for the full album!
Sounds like an 80's spandex wearing, perm flicking rock band..about bloody time..hell yeah :)
Cuanta vida le da esa guitarra! aguante the darkness! que salga el disco yaa!!
Thank God for The Darkness
I try to blow the speakers out when I turn this one on🤘😈
It's like The Cult meets ACDC. Nice work Gents!
1 minute of song and what can I say? Hell yeah! See you in Spain this summer, can't wait for this 1st time
Dear Allotherbands of the modern era.. THIS is how you play a guitar solo: 2:42

Talent and fucking hard work
I can already tell I'm gonna love this album.
Im so glad that the darkness are back! And i think they are here to stay! Thank you for bringin good music to 2015 !
This was amazing live at the Judge Roy Beans when i went to see them in Newbridge, Ireland, fantastic live band
Best rock song of 2015 so far!
This is the best belated birthday present for me. The Darkness uploaded this on my birthday. I have loved them sense "I Believe in a Thing Called Love". You guys always kick ass!! \m/
This album is going to be killer. Can't wait for my signed vinyl to arrive on the 1st of June! Keep it coming Darkness

Sofia Mendonça Some people just want I Believe In A Thing Called Love over and over. ;)
Sofia Mendonça Absolutely!...and I'm one of 'em. Been with 'em since 2003 and I ain't goin' anywhere. Personally, I honestly prefer a select following to mass appeal for this band. Can't wait for my vinyl, sounds freaking great!
Good job guys, was hoping for a classic darknessey-type sound like this, love the song!
Love these guys and cant wait for the new albumn!
What an awesome song! Also, it kinda reminds me of Queen's "Headlong" at some parts.
I like it! Sounds very much like The Cult.
their best song
Anyone who thinks this is new vocal territory for Mr Hawkins I think must have missed the hot leg CD cuz I think it's right up that alley.....which is awesome!!!! Either way its a great tune.
Glad you guys are one of the few still releasing good new music in this style.
Han vuelto los mejores The Darkness sin duda!!!
Great solo
Back in the 80s :D Great song!
An interesting different style of vocals on some parts of this song make me wonder what the rest of the album is going to be like. I am genuinely excited been a fan rite from the start, looking forward to seeing a live show soon
feels...so....good oh yes
I didn't know The Cult were making a new album?
Howly shit! Love it!!!!!!!!! If The Cult and U2 had a baby
Wow, did you just compare them to The Cure, fucckkkkk
Danny Nash Shit whoops, I meant The Cult!
Alex Ephgrave The bigger insult is mentioning u2...
Not a bad thing geez
Friday Night has The Cure in its DNA.
Awesome song!! Looking forward to the O2 Academy in December now 👍
It's a shocking cult like one, that's amazing, heard it on the radio this morning and i suddendly blow up awake, amazing
This band reminds me of The Cult so much. Love it though!

OH MY GOD...THAT HAWK IS JUST A ROCKIN AND KICKIN ASS....! DAMN DUDES....
AWESOME GROOVE.

It's fast, heavy and rocks as The Darkness usually do!
This Is Rock at its best
Can't say I liked it myself and I love The Darkness, usually.

Awesome song
This is an absolute bop!

Ese solo de guitarra suena muy bieeen
Did they hire Billy Duffy for the guitars or what?
my thoughts exactly!
FreeLand Sounds incredibly Cult like, glad I wasn't the only one who thought that.
It would be cool if that's really Billy Duffy playing.
FreeLand He is a personal friend of Justin's
FreeLand
At least there is still a band that plays shit like this. That's writing new Rock n Roll music unlike anyone else left in the industry.
