- I show you my step-by-step my balayage technique using ONLY HAIR PAINTING! This is a true balayage tutorial. All formulas for lighter and toner included! This was the first time Erin has lightened her virgin hair so we went for a natural lift. If you want a more dramatic look bump your developer to 40 volume.
This technique does not just apply to red heads with hair “gifted by the gods” like my mode, @ErinLivesWhole! It can be applied to anyone. But keep in mind your formula will change depending on how strong of a lift you need for brunettes darker than a level 5 or previously colored hair so adjust accordingly!
Also in this tutorial I share my favorite tips and techniques to create ribbons of color that look natural and blended. NO BLEED MARKS TO CHEETAH SPOTS! Balayage can be very challenging, but after you watch this tutorial you will feel confident to paint hair like a pro!

I’m curious do you need to wash your hair before coming to a salon for a bleach, balayage, highlights etc like many years ago the hairdresser would always ask not to wash or use any hair products like oil, serum on your hair for a couple of days.

How can you make it lighter looking? Leave it on longer? Less toning? I’d like mine much more dramatic. I, too, don’t see much of a difference after all that time and effort. That’s a lot of processing on a beautiful natural redhead. I think her hair was beautiful to start with.
She didn't want it to be too dramatic so we started off really natural. It was the first time coloring her hair so I wanted to respect that! but I would bump up your developer and you can saturate the lightener more.

Erin, before I say anything I just want you to know you look absolutely beautiful! I can’t help but to be super disappointed that there isn’t more of a dramatic look here. There is almost no change from the before and after, except for the blowout and curls. Daniella, you technique is stunning, and you are clearly talented, but Erin already had naturally beautiful sun kissed highlights. To put her hair through this damage for there to be little to no change at all, is just really upsetting. Not to mention the time and money Erin spent on this session. I honestly feel you owe her a refund or a re-do.
She was a complimentary service and I NEVER damage my clients hair! She also asked me to keep it really natural so I also don't push my clients into color that they aren't comfortable with. Be careful what you assume

Hi!! Hopefully you can advice me. I got my hair done and I wanted the exact same color that u client has. I know is a red hair color but has more copper than red but my hair stylist made it more red than copper which I didn’t want, I want more copper than red. If you will have to simulate this natural hair color which shades would you use? She used on my hair shades eq 7cr and 7cc.
Can you recommend a level 7 or 8 red for very pale skin with alot of redness and blue eyes
