I have bought three usb flash drives and none of them work. When I go to safety, the format usb is not highlighted so I cannot format. Did you have to format your ssd drive with a computer first? Or was it plug and play into your tesla and you were able to format it in your car? Can you tell me the name brand of the ssd drive you purchased? Your link just shows a whole bunch on Amazon.
Try using ones other owners have used. May just be a compatibility issue. Samsung has one that works. I don't remember the name. If it foes format but doesnt work, you have to add a folder and a specific name for the folder must be entered in order for it to work
This is not a "solution", all you did was replace the thumb drive with another drive. The first thing you should have done was plug the Tesla drive into a computer to see if it works. But obviously drives fail especially if they are not rated to handle the amount of read/write times, of which they will get a lot of because the dash cam is always recording when the car is basically on.
Picked my 2020 Model Y up from the Tesla service center today and they are useless! I will never buy another Tesla! My car was serviced for this issue three times and the problem has come back hours after picking my car up today. No one to call when you have issues like this. All I can do is schedule service 6 weeks from now and they will still not fix it! I am tiered of Tesla! I love the car but its not worth keeping with the poor service that hey offer.
broken in my 2020 model Y as well. seems to be a known issue on reddit. it’s the entire usb port. plugging in a game controller won’t work either unless you reboot the car.
Sorry, not a real solution but rather a masking solution. As if we did not know that replacing with another USB flash drive will fix it.
What needs to be done to actually fix the issue with USB drive connectivity in Tesla ? Formatting, rebooting Tesla simply does not work.
I'm thinking the mcu has to be replaced, but the service costs 2400 to do, just so our usb ports work again😢
I had to pay approx $300 to get the actual USB drive replaced. I was informed by Tesla tech that even USB drives have a life.
