This brought a faint memory to me, me and my faction built this huge Outpost close to Westpoint next to the river and we called it the "Fishing Village", we built it cause incase we stayed far from our base we can always just go here cause it will be dangerous to go out at night cause umm night sprinters(Its a mod), we worked days real time on it and then we went to this event then one of our own fell off a roof then we laughed our @sses off for weeks, its good memories but its all gone now. I miss it
Yeah love building big old compounds with friends and yeah thats a cool name for the village! And ah yeah night sprinters are always scary! And oh god so in the end someone just fell off, did they die or was it a broken leg ect?
@@Noughtical They got a broken leg and then they said F### it and they just commited suicide. might i remind you after we finished the village we went to an event at like a military base with a map mod and that is where he fell off
Ah yeah that’s fair enough, broken leg is manageable in singleplayer but in a multiplayer server yeah that’s hours of your life just sat with a broken leg
Yep exactly all ready for anything you wanna do really, working on a part2 to this video where I’ll plaster everything and turn it into a fully working base :) Thanks!
Bro, I had no idea there was a way to remove curtains and retain their original look. I was soo aggravated, thinking that I was gonna have to settle for the "bed sheet over the window" look. Cheers, mate!
You're also going to need garbage bags to get some rain catchers going and a crowbar to take windows out of their frames from other houses. Solid work tho oh and a tip start with lvl1 walls and upgrade them in order and they'll end up being stronger than going straight lvl 3
New-ish player here, thanks for the video. Me and a mate gonna try this. Only thing I would have done differently was build around the first staircase so it became indoor, rather than building 2 sets to delete one
I always pick up curtains. The improvised sheets are good for in a pinch. But I usually just grab some real curtains. They look more cool and you have different variants. Its just a small touch. But the curtains are more heavy and it can be annoying to find something but it really looks better. Also plastering walls and painting them looks cool. The wood looks good in natural forest areas but it can be a bit awkward if you just made a wall inside a building. But if you like the survivor realistic look the wooden walls look great.
I was wondering, If you put a rainbarrel on the 2nd floor, instead of the 1st floor... can you still plumb a sink on ground level? Or does it only work if it's directly on the roof above the floor you're working on?
@@Stinokuni Yea it has to be on the roof directly above , on any square adjacent to the sink. You can build a platform outside to put a barrel on thatll serve the ground floor it doesnt have to be directly above the sink.
IIRC if you start with level 1 walls and upgrade to level 2, then level 3 you can get more strength out of them, even though it does cost more in resources
If you do a follow-up for this could you touch on how to get rooms to register as enclosed if you get glitches? It's been a nightmare trying to build enclosed rooms in my compound
Trying to build enclosed houses is a nightmare in general, at least for me. I 100% agree that a comprehensive video explaining how to deal with bugged rooms/buildings would be a nice thing to have.
@@DrunkenAlchemist1 for what it's worth i found second level and above my big rooms wouldn't register as enclosed but if i put a dividing wall through the middle they were both now enclosed. It means my base now as loads of smaller rooms instead of big ones
FOR WINDOWS... Although not really a Necessity, You can add Glass by Using a crowbar and removing intact windows from the houses. If you don't have the Higher Carpentry skill for Level 3 walls, not to worry, you can build the lower level walls (gaining XP in the Process) and as you get better, you CAN upgrade the walls. AT LEVEL THREE WALLS, you can use Plaster to make your walls paintable! At any level you can upgrade your floors by simply picking up the tiles you like from other buildings. Even with No Windows on the First Floor, if you want, you can plant your garden there as well, but you'll have to either haul the water in by hand, or plumb a sink in there (with an outdoor Water Barrel on the Second floor).

Another tip, if you build lvl 1 walls first and upgrade them their hp stacks so they're much stronger than going straight to lvl 3
Good tip!
wow nice
Log walls has more HP than even level 1->3 walls.
And you’re ready to build a sink underneath the waterbarrel and enjoy clean water! Great vid!

Yeah I was planning on making a part 2 to this series and doing things like this!
Very nice , maybe a part two where you fit windows , plaster and paint walls , fit carpets , make furniture and plumb a sink .
Yeah exactly and sure, I’ll get working on that too! :)
@@Noughtical In your own time mate its alot of work 😓

Hey guys welcome to my Minecraft let's play 😀
and today we are gonna be building my first house in minecraft! 😂
excellent basic building guide. thanks. exactly what i needed.
Glad it helped!
Love me a bit of base building! Next time make it BIGGER!!
Yeah one of my favourite parts of the game! And yeah that’s the plan, you can always EXPAND a base!
@@Noughtical always need somewhere to put your weapons!

the carpentry in this game feel so realistic, i love it
Yeah I really like it, I feel like it is perfectly balanced and realistic!
@@Noughtical just wished my back didnt turn into a spring every time i try to barriade my windows, "wdym you cant carry 50 pounds of planks?"
Yeah that’s the only downside lol 😂
Would be sick if you do a video on how to plumb in a washing machine.
Yep planning on making one already! 👍
Keep it up bro. Gonna use this method then 'coz I live in the forest near the lake.
Will do! Yeah its a good method and yeah love living in the forest its always refreshing away from the big cities and towns isn't it!
Did you not use a crowbar to install some window frames? Doesn't that effect the temperature indoors?

Have you tried the More Builds mod? It'd be fun to see what kinda base you could come up with when you've got access to more structure types
Ooh I’ll take a look at that mod thanks for the suggestion :)
can you attach a generator to power the base? or is that limited to original buildings
You can place a generator down outside and it will still work you just need to fuel it :)
Don't destroy your stair. You can disassemble it
Good point that will defiantly work!
great tip im a noob so all new info is great
Adding onto existing house, and getting the game to recognize it is now an interior space... How-to that PLEASE!!!
Does your extension have a roof?
@@Noughtical If floor tiles count as roof, then yes.
How you tur around the wall
You can press R to rotate walls, if it’s not that there will be a prompt on screen with which key to press!
But cant zombies destroy player built wooden walls?
It's a ton of work, I haven't done it and prob won't
Can zombies destroy man made walls?
Yeah they can however you can turn it off in sandbox options :)
You can also pick up windows with a crowbar :3
Yep a great tip!
